So Many Dietitians
I did slim for life...that life last four years..and they gave tips on dealing with people's comments and how they are actually sabatoging your diet. I said now who would want to do that...well the people that are used to having you be the fat person...cause if you aren't, who is? Take this for what you will. You know the hearts and minds of those you affiliate. My sisters do this to me whether they mean to or not. We have all switched roles so many times. I was the trimmer, athletic one for most of the time. The older one was the pretty one with the 36, 24, 36. And the younger one had to fight for a spot so she picked pot head. None of these things are even close to what we are now. Competition though...it is a theme when dealing with body image and relationships and self esteem. The comments are a killer!

Someone wrote about wearing our problems on the outside...oh so true! That's why it hurts so quickly. Funny though, if we ran into someone with a diability we wouldn't say the things that get said to someone fighting the food/exercise/health battle.

How Do You Keep Yourself Motivated?
Look for the surprise motivator. This just happened to me. I was getting a little irritated. Then I realized I made it to 5 miles in under an hour. I realized my jeans were loose. Then I realized maybe I could fit into some clothes I hadn't tried on in a while. SURPRISE! I am doing it. I believe everyone's surprise motivator might be slightly different. Just noticing that I was able to do these things has helped. I was so used to NOT being able to doing them. Now they just are! It was a nice surprise and I had a big smile for it.

I like the idea of adding to what your eating instead of taking away. It seems like a natural way to stop eating the food that hurts the most. Good luck!

weigh everyday
I don't like to weigh every day. I have heard it helps deal with the reality of the situation. I tend to not change weight, but rather distrubution. So, to feel better that my numbers aren't moving, I use clothes to let me know I am getting somewhere.I believe there must be something to the weighing in concept or it wouldn't be used in the doctor's office. I have done a few program diets adn they always did the monitoring with the scale. I was speaking to my sister about this topic. Her program has her weigh everyday until she reaches her goal weight and then it is once a week for maintaining. I wonder if there is something to getting frustrated with the numbers not moving that is part of the process of changing habits, really changing habits.

weigh everyday
I meant to say the benefit...It helps me see some progress in some places and then look at what I can do to bring along the rest. like maybe more of a food that eats belly fat or an exercise that concentrates on my stomach.
