I am in my 30s and struggling to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a child I was extremely skinny (naturally, no diets). Needless to say, I developed some really bad eating habits because eating too much or the wrong things didn't have an impact on my general health. To add to the mix, I had to gain 17 pounds just to join the Air Force. Being as I was an active teenager, I had to increase my food intake signifacantly and it was rarely the good-foods. By my mid-thirties I realized that I no longer had the same active lifestyle to be able to eat like I did as a teenager. I tried to change my lifestyle then, but I only knew one way and it was hard to change. It wasn't until I was tested for high-cholesterol that I finally changed. I was certainly not obese, at 5'4" and 140lbs. Which made it harder to get support from family and friends. I have frequently slipped into the comfort foods and activies many times. It was never the scale that brought me back, it has always been my health.
