Good morning all....Windstream was down pretty much all day...there was an hour left in the work day before we were back up and running....amazing.

The furbaby is doing very well, and aside from annoying the other dogs by trying to play with them (haha) they are all getting along fine. She sleeps in the mudroom (it is heated) and I have been putting a puppy pad down for her; she has used it every night (such a smart little girl).

My weight has been jumping around the past couple of days so I have not recorded it. Yesterday I was at my limit for carbs and my sodium was way up so not so sure what it will look like today. I may have to do a day of virtually no carbs...wings for lunch and maybe that or a burger for dinner...to try to get it back down...but at the same time trying to keep the sodium low (that is the toughest part) and sodium does effect my body with very little effort.

So we will see. I typically do my weight around 8 or 9 (even though I am up and working at 5am). It was high last night at bedtime, and typically I can tell at bedtime if I need to drink a lot of water over night. I tried to down the water whenever I got up so I will see how well it worked.

I hope you all have a great day.

It sounds like you are both doing good! I know how frustrating it is to have your weight jumping around. I lost two pounds this week, but really wanted more. I guess I need to start working on the exercise harder... We are supposed to have a warming spell so that will make the outside walks easier. I'm having a hard time getting in a rhythm with my school work, so getting that sorted out will make exercise time easier too.

I'm also working harder on my water. For some reason I just haven't been drinking much and I need to stop that. I brought 4 bottles up with me this morning and am not going to stop working tonight until they are gone!

Tonight is my first dinner out, since going gluten free. I have some coworkers in from out of town. Luckily we are going to a dinner club that is known for it's steaks, so I will just need to ask for one that has not been marinated. I'm looking forward to a nice evening, most of my coworkers are really awesome. When we travel in groups, people generally think we are family.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Sheryl - 2# is awesome! I have set my goal to 5# a month so that is 1.25# a week...anything over that I will take it and count myself ahead. So when I do get another stall I will not get discouraged but can remind myself that I am already ahead of goal so it is 'okay'.

The water....I read somewhere to drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces a day and that is what I try to do. I think it holds true; at least for me it does. When I drink that and more then I tend to do much better on the scale. Hang in there with the water.

How was the dinner? I love a good steak!!!!

Hey Juls hope you are doing well!!

All is well in the PNW...it is cold and snowy and the snow is not going anywhere anytime soon. No big plans this weekend and that is fine with me. As a matter of fact I am looking forward to staying in tonight. I have a pork roast in the crock pot and will make DH some rice to go along with it and we can settle in for the evening!!!

Hope y'all have a great weekend.

Hello--I am new here. I'm a freelance writer and a student in a career switcher program, currently living with my 9 year old son and 76 year old mother. There is no space to exercise at home, so I must *motivate* myself to leave the house. We have a quarter mile walking path around the lake behind the apartment, so that is option one. I get my son to do that with me sometimes. I have decided to join a Zumba class, as I used to love to dance. Starting that tomorrow a.m.

It is COLD here in VA this a.m., but the sun is shining.

Hi and welcome to the group! It sounds like you have some great options for exercise and you are motivated! What about a video game system with exercise games? I use my Wii often and have a Zumba game for the xbox that I haven't used yet.

I live in Iowa, so I know all about cold, but we have sunshine this morning too!

Let us know how we can help motivate you!

Hey Moxiemama and welcome to the group. There are a couple of us that try to post daily on here to keep one another encouraged. That walking path sounds like a great option and nice to get out of the house. Bundle up!!!

Hey Sheryl how are you doing? I miss our Wii....but DH decided (over a year ago) that they wanted PS3 instead...we don't hardly ever play it because I don't care to play it and he played the games more when I played with him. It would have been a great option for me now.

Moxie - I live in Washington state and it is cold here...too much ice to try to get out and walk on the paths...unless I had some of those spikes to put over my shoes...which of course I don't. I am not so sure my Southern blood could take it though.

Hope y'all have a great day.

This weekend was not me at my finest.

On Friday, doc told DH that he has migraines with vertigo. He has always had headaches, but recently gotten a lot worse. Now they are daily and the vertigo causes nausea. The meds they gave him on Friday seemed to make things worse.

Saw a different doctor yesterday. 4 new meds make him seem high. They make him tired, but unable to sleep too. His boss is not being very understanding. I suggested he call HR and see what his options are. He works for a Fortune 15 company, in the medical field, so they should have something in place...

Anyway, he was in severe pain all weekend, making him cranky and kept lashing out at me. Plus it was super cold, so got very little exercise. Between the stress and lack of exercise, I've gained 5 pounds since last week. I was drinking a lot of diet soda though, so I'm hoping at least some of it is just water weight from all the sodium.

Yesterday, my 19-year-old, who lives with her dad, took a "bunch" of pills and ended up in the emergency room. We're not at all sure she actually took anything. She was fighting with her dad and I think maybe she was just trying to punish him. This is the second time she had done this. But he called 911, so after they determined at the emergency room that she was not in any immediate attention, she was transferred to the psych ward. I have to go pick her up later, meet with the pdoc, then go pick up her meds and take her back to her dads.

Anyway... I know I'll get through it, but it was rough. I ordered an aerobic step that will arrive today, that will help me with getting more exercise when the weather is bad and I can't walk outside. And after today it is supposed to warm up into the 20s, so I will be able to walk outside again for a while.

One good thing... while at the hospital, which is not far from our house, it dawned on me that when the weather is bad, I could go there and walk the halls. It isn't something I could do several times a day, like walking around the block (1/2 mile trip) but still, another option!

I hope we all have a fabulous week!

Good morning and welcome Moxie.
Sheryl sounds like you have had a stressful weekend - I hope things start improving hang in there!
Jaime how is the move stuff going?
I have been spent the last couple of weeks at the "pretend retirement" home every day. They had a huge exodus of employees and everything we had decided on in terms of our house was lost in the shuffle (from where we had lights and electrical outlets) to the color of the baseboards and paint. Been a long process as everyday we find new errors and have to drive back and forth to sign off on amendments. Hoping by this weekend everything is said and done.
Also decided to start tracking at 10 lb goals. Hoping that will get me more motivated and stop the back sliding. Weight is steady but not going down down down.
Hope everyone has a terric day!!

Hey all!

Sheryl so sorry to hear about your weekend...that is so much stress to be processing. I know you are a strong lady and will get through it but can be quite a load to carry.

Juls - not moving...DH got an offer from the company to open a new branch up here so that is what he did. He is settled and has two people starting for him next week. So getting in the groove of things.

My daughter is going through a process of trying to join the Navy...so far so good if she can get a job that she wants. I really hope she gets offered a job that she will want to accept. I know she is excited at the prospect and I am excited for her.

TOM is around the corner and has me a bit miserable with the 'binding' issue that I seem to have before his monthly visit. Otherwise I think all is good. I met my mini goal of 5# for January and actually doing a bit of a Fat Fast today since we are going out tomorrow night and I know that wine will likely be involved.

I hope you all are having a great day. Remember take it one day...one meal...one moment at a time!!!

Thank you ladies, just being able to vent in a safe place really helps. Not exactly something I can post on FB because I'm sure my daughter doesn't want everyone to know and not my place to tell... It is nice being somewhat anonymous here.

Jaime - I'm glad things are going so well for your husband. It seems like this is coming together really fast! Good luck to your daughter. Our armed forces need good people so I hope they offer her something she is excited about. My nephew joined the Air Force about 6 months ago and will be a linguist. He is learning Farsi right now.

I'm lucky in that I only have to deal with TOM twice a year. Because of my anemia issues my doc just has me keep taking my pills. Of course now that I'm gluten free and should stop having anemia issues... I don't think I'll mention that to her Very Happy

Juls, I'm so sorry! That really sucks :-/ Since I work in real estate I know how much work it is doing that stuff even on the corporate level when I don't have a personal interest in the outcome. This will be your home, so even worse! But it sounds like you are getting through it, and what choice do we have?

I understand how short-term goals can help. I guess I have smaller goals in my head, though the site is tracking my ultimate goal. I've already lost 4 of the 5 pounds I gained over the weekend, so there is a good chance it was water weight like I thought. Just need to keep moving in the right direction.

DH has applied for short-term disability. If his job wasn't constantly being on the phone with the customer, and if he had an understanding boss, he could probably work through this, but his whole job is on the phone and his boss is afraid of "setting precedents." As a boss, I understand that, but sometimes there needs to be exceptions. He should hear back in 4 days if he is approved or not. Hopefully, when he finally gets in to see the neurologist in 2 weeks, they can help him enough to get back to work!

My daughter is back at her dad's and they put her on medication. Hopefully she sticks with it. She is a "genius underachiever." Her IQ is sky high, but she didn't even graduate high school because she doesn't like to be told what to do. She hasn't help a job for more than a couple of months either. I kicked her out when she was 17 because she would not respect us or our home. Our house is 150 years old with all of the beautiful old wood work and 4 panel doors and old leaded glass... and she kicked holes through two of the doors. She burned up the carpet in her room with cigarettes, stole from us, then lied about it even when she was caught red-handed... it was crazy and I couldn't take it any more. Hopefully she will take the meds like she is supposed to and turn her life around.

Thanks for the support everyone! Have a great day!

Sheryl - that is great that you have almost shed those pesky pounds! It sounds like you are doing well on gluten free and I am very pleased for you. Have you gone to any of the group meetings yet?

Your house sounds so beautiful. I am sorry for the struggles that you are having with your daughter; the hardest love to give is tough love, but you have done it and continue to do it. I hope that these new meds will work for her and that she will get herself on track.

I did a Fat Fast yesterday and surprisingly was not hungry at all. My calories were at 1000 and 80% of my RDI was fat. This morning I had lost 1.4#....so very nice surprise. We are going out tonight and then to a concert and I was trying to do some damage control (in advance). However, not so sure I will even have the two glasses of wine that I pre-planned for tonight...I am so pleased with that loss...haha.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Thursday all!!

Jaime - way to go on the Fat Fast - I really think I need to buy the Atkins book because I have tried to read through the posts on low carb group and get lost (not hard for me to do).

I do have something I think that will help with your binding - Phillips Colon Health - I buy it at Costco (way cheaper than any other store) and the pills are a lot easier to swallow. You might want to give it a try - I take them daily. Also all the healthy gnc stuff for menapause - finally threw it out - was doing nothing for me - I think it actually made me smell wierd if that makes any sense.

Sheryl - the whole house thing what a mess - I think the people who left (designer and lead sales) were pretty mad - we weren't the only ones dashing to get things redone and finalized so we would be in the queue for the build.

On your daughter hang in there and stick to the tough love. I have a friend who is regretting not practicing it and has a 28 year old unemployed daughter with a 3 year old....and guess who is footing all bills and primary care giver.

Crossing fingers all goes well with hubby.

Well - one more day until the weekend YEAH!!!!

It's Friday! Though I wish we were having another long weekend. Two days never seem like enough.

I have not heard from DD since I picked her up from the hospital so I have to assume that no news is good news.

DH is having good days and bad days, though the headache is ever present, just different intensities. I'm afraid it will be that way until he meets with the neurologist.

We have no big plans this weekend. We have our 13-year-old with us, but between the migraines and my school work, I think it will mostly be a veg out on the couch weekend for them. Hopefully nice enough for a couple of walks though.

Next weekend, if DH is up for it, he has a "guy weekend" planned with one of his buddies. He lives about 5 hours away from us, so they try to do it once a year. While I'll miss him, I look forward to the time alone too. But it will all depend on how he is feeling.

Juls, I'm glad it sounds like you've gotten everything worked out! When do they expect construction to be complete?

I haven't been to any Celiac meetings yet. Between work, school, and the kids, I don't seem to have a lot of free time. And I think I have things down pretty good. I have a couple of friends with it and have been on a lot of forums, and I seem to know more than a lot of people. I'm not ruling out going, just haven't felt it was high enough on the list of important things yet.

I hope you have an awesome night Jaime! It sounds like a lot of fun, and if you want the wine, have it, and if you don't, skip it. Do what is going to make you happiest.

I hope we all have a wonderful weekend!

So it is Sunday...I always get a tad bit crabby when 60 minutes is on....I know the weekend is over and a full work week is just around the corner.

Jaime how is your fat fast going? I did a ton of research on the internet and started yesterday. Seem to have some cheekbones and tummy seems smaller. Weighing in tomorrow so we will see. I am surprised I am not starving to death.

Sheryl hope you are feeling better and got to veg out. We did finally get everything worked out with the build and put the last of our deposit down. Because there is such a huge shortage of framers in MN (guess the good ones moved to ND with all that is going on there) we won't be in our new place until September if they break ground in March. May end up living with my parents in WI for a few months. That should be interesting as I haven't lived with them since I was 18.

Hope your weekends went well!

Good morning everyone! The concert on Thursday night was great, but it was after midnight before I got to bed and then starting work at 5am well it was a long tiresome day. We did not go anywhere Friday night and then hockey on Saturday night. TOM is here and blah.

Sheryl - I hope your daughter is doing better

Julie - how is the fast going? I am glad you got the builders squared away.

The fat fast has gone well but I was off it Thursday (ate out and wine). Did it Friday but then had pizza (no crust) Friday night so kind of but not really...LOL. Saturday I didn't do it. Sunday I did it and doing it today and tomorrow for three full days. I do not feel hungry on it. Wednesday thru Thursday I will do it at 1200 calories and then start induction. I have already met goal for January and partly knocked some of February goal out...so that is a good thing.

I hope y'all have a great day.

Drumroll....fat fast is going well!! I am not weighing myself until after TOM has left the building (I HATE HIM!!!) based on hubby's suggestion and his knowledge of how I react to my scale. My face is thinner (only a double chin) and my pants are loser so that will suffice for now.

Jaime sounds like you had a great Thursday and weekend. It has been a long time since I went to a concert. Jealous.

Sheryl hope you and your family are doing okay!

That is great Juls! Cannot wait to hear the verdict. Fat Fast is going very well for me too. I am on my last day of 1000 calories and will go to 1200 calories tomorrow through Friday. Then will go back to my RDI and induction. If this loss continues then by Jan 31st I will have lost 10# this month alone...amazing....and will have already met my February goal. I will be working on March goal. I am very close to Onderland!!!!!!!! Haven't been there in about 4 or 5 years.

Hi Ladies,

All is as good as to be expected here. My daughter is back to her old snotty, the world-owes-me-something self. She is not talking to me because I would drop everything and drive her to a doctor appointment that she knew about for a week and wouldn't make a plan for.

DH is doing as good as to be expected. He must not be that bad because he and his buddy had a "guys weekend" planned for this weekend and as of today, he still plans on going. I'm kind of looking forward to a weekend alone and everything I can get done in his absense.

The weather has been nasty here, bitter cold, then warm but thunderstorms, then bitter cold again, so I haven't been getting out as much as I want to go for walks, but been going up and down the stairs about 25 times a day trying to get extra in. I play the Wii too, but the stairs seem to be more work.

I'm glad your fat fasts are going so well. Keep up the good work!

Wow happy February..I cannot believe it has been this long since I posted and I am sorry.

Sheryl I am sorry that you are still having these problems with your daughter.

I hope your Husband is doing well and that his guy's weekend went well. I also hope that you had some good 'down time'.

The weather has been decent here. Ash Wednesday is this week and I have decided for Lent that I am going to commit to a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise daily. God has been good to me giving me the strength to stay the course and this is one area of my life that I have been negligent on taking care of the body that He gave to me. I will do my daily exercise (which will suffer through for awhile as I am good at making excuses) and will focus on how thankful I am.

I hope everyone is doing well.
