Would love some ideas of what kind of bread you eat so you end up satisfied but not too many calories. I would rather eat bread less often and really enjoy it. Any ideas?

Try to stick with the darker breads. Your ryes & pumpernickel.

I'm low carb. I can't do breads at all. Nor grains of any kind if I can avoid them. Gluten is killing me! ack

When I was first on the plan, (I'm such an addict!) I couldn't totally give up bread, so when I did break down it was with a variety made by Pepperidge Farm called "Very Thin". It comes in white and wheat, and their serving size is 3 slices. Each slice is nearly identical in size to the typical pre-packaged slices of American cheese. Not much thicker, either. The nutritional values are really low in carbs and calories. It's a very tasty bread, makes excellent sandwiches and delicious crispy toast. I love the texture: it's not the smooshy-soft loaf bread, nor either is it the tough and dry "health" bread. It reminds me distantly of the texture of English muffin bread. I still love it - but know better! alas.

It's worth checking out, at least... if you're determined to eat bread!

My favorite is a sprouted grain bread, Ezekiel 4:9 Cinnamon Raisin Bread. It is flourless, organic & low glycemic with 80 calories a slice, when toasted, it satisfies the craving for something crunchy and sweet.

Stick to breads that are wheat-gluten-free. You can buy breads made from brown or white rice flour in any health store, as well as sprouted grain bread.

Try avoiding high fructose corn syrup, and any form of sugar as well. Breads made from rice or spelt usually already cut that out for you. Smile

I gave up all wheat and most grains and went from 206 lbs to 174 in 2 months. I read Dr Davis' best seller "Wheat Belly..."

Amen, give up on all bread. Eating 100% whole wheat does not help. OK, that may be very hard, but I have had bread (small portion) maybe 3 times since last July. No better way to lose weight fast, giving up grains. When you do eat it, take it with a healthy fat like olive oil to modulate the sugar spike that is coming, the reason grains promote fat storage.

I love bread and right now if I have a sandwich or make toast I use a brand that is 40 calories a slice. I find you have to be careful when toasting these low calorie breads as they seem to go up in smoke rather quickly.
