Was on a salad and salmon diet for three weeks and lost 20 pounds. I lost all cravings for sweets and carbs after 2 weeks. Then my birthday came along and people took me out to dinner, made cakes, and yes, I was even given chocolates. I didn't go crazy, yet now I'm finding it hard to go back to my strict salad and salmon diet.

Am I a sugar and carb addict? Is falling off the wagon even once - one too many times? Any suggestions on how to live in the real world - eating socially in restaurants - if I'm a food addict?

Eating carbs make you crave carbs. The only problem with a diet like yours (and the one I was on) is that when you go back to the 'real world' you gain weight. Even if you try to limit yourself you will have a hard time keeping your weight.

I wouldn't worry about being a carb addict. The Atkins group has answers concerning why you crave carbs.
As long as you try, and try again, you will never fail. You never lose. The only way to truly fail is to quit.
