Has anyone stayed on Phase 1 for longer than the two weeks? Curious to hear why and what your results were like.

Thanks all!Razz

Yep I did it for 4 weeks. I found that I stalled. Didn't lose a pound basically. Needed to increase my calories. I either got too used to 1000 calorie deficit or basically went into starvation mode. Even with 9 snacks or so a day I was still averaging 1500 calories. I have bumped it up to 1800. I am a guy so my baseline burn is about 2400 and realistically says 2700 is my daily exercise with just deskwork, sitting, resting. I found that by carb cycling and adding in more calories, I'm doing better.

Yes, every time I go back to Phase 1 I always stay on it for 3 weeks. I found that my weight loss would begin to decrease during the third week..........I assume it was my body telling me it was done with that phase and time to move on. I would def say that 3 weeks is a good amount to stay on Phase 1, but no more. Your body will respond to the healthy foods that you begin adding back in.
Hope that helps Smile

Great posts...previously, I wondered why I had stopped losing weight after 2 weeks and into the 3rd week on Phase 1....thanks to your posts, now I know why.
Just started phase 1 again yesterday, after taking a 3 month total break form the South Beach diet....
So this time, I'll watch (and pray) to make sure I don't cheat..and possibly only stay on Phase 1 for the recommended 2 weeks Smile

sobia: you need to read the book or at least google "South Beach Diet food list". Basically: no bread, no rice, no potatoes, no starchy veggies. THere are alot of other things, too, so I would go ahead and get the book(I borrowed it from the Library but am buying one as well) or google it like I said. I am on the last day of week 1 and am hoping for a great loss(today my wii fit said 216, which would be 6 lbs).
Started South Beach Diet Phase 1 on 12/30/12. I *WILL* get to goal this time!
