I was diagnosed with insulin resistance syndrome about a year ago. If anyone has it you will know how insanely difficult it is to lose weight. I have managed to lose 12kg and I now weigh 62kg. I think my ideal weight would be around 56kg but I am really struggling with these last 6kg.. Is anyone in the same/a similar boat as me?

Which diet do you follow? Atkins? Your can reverse your pre-diabetic state with the Atkins diet! I don't have the same problem, but I was insulin resistant for sure! Low Carb is the best! Good luck!

Hi there. I was diagonsed about 2 years ago as being pre-diabetic. Try explaining to people what it is, and all they hear is just "diabetic".
Anyway, I've come to the realisation that enough is enough, and I can't abuse my body as I have been. I'm really struggling to get back into the swing of things - from being once a very active person, to now having my legs hurt when i walk too much. It's really frustrating, which has now caused my adrenal gland to over work. but enough about that - congrats on the weight loss, it really is a great achievement esp being diagnosed with IR. sO TODAY, I've decided that enough is enough, and i need to take control. No sugar and def a very low carb diet. Must really check out this Atkins Diet. Any feedback, and help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Donna, How are you doing? I also have that sugar problem. It has been kinda frustrating as I forget to drink the glucophage at times and if I don't I pick up wait very easily and lose extremely slowly. Currently drinking Annique's lifestyle shake 2x and having a normal dinner. Working for me at the moment.

Hi Everyone!

I was diagnosed with type 2 and put on medication. I did not take the medicine well. I then bought a book "The GI Diet" by Rick Gallop and it changed my life. By making small little changes to what I ate and starting to exercise, I lost 45kg. Unfortunately after my pregnancy a few years later and a lot of slack, I gained it again but I'm still maintaining my sugar levels on 4. The biggest changes I made to my then way of eating were to eat small potatoes instead of big ones and not eating my egg yolks. I also bought the South African Glycemic Index and Load Guide and it really changed my life. I am going back to all that now and hoping to show you the results first hand very soon!
