hi everyone,
forgive me for my ignorance Confused I am following a paleo diet the way my nephew described it to me, and as much as I could understand from reading about it on the internet. I haven't gotten my hands on a book just yet but I have a quick question about soy milk.

I don't have any more coconut or almond milk handy, but I do have some unsweetened organic soy milk. I decided to make a smoothie with it because that's what I really wanted... and I figured if I could have a natural smoothie instead of the more unfriendly foods I crave... well you get what I mean. So here is the question:

What's so wrong about soy milk according to paleo, and why is coconut or almond milk better?

I'm definitely going to use the container up until I can get the other milk instead, but I just wanted to understand a little better if someone could help me out Smile

Thanks!

Hi Rivkah, I'm also new to paleo!
There's many different versions of paleo so I think you just have to find what works for you. I still do dairy (yogurt & cheese), some plans don't allow that.
From what I understand it's all the processing that goes in to soy & the additives. Paleo is about eating food at it's simplest form.

Here's an article from Marks Daily Apple.

I hope that helps

Ok so then it seems that it's not the soy itself, but the processing?
Hm. It just seems to me that if it's organic, it should be ok. (?)
I will read the article you are showing me. Thank you so much!!

Hi Rivkah! I think the reason it's off limits is because soy is based from wheat, and wheat is not our friend. Just say it in the book. We will have to get creative with other seasonings!

I think that soy milk milk be out because it is made from a soy bean and beans are not part of the program. That is my guess, but I'll see if I can find the answer in the book!
