I would say form is vital, but don't not count the amount in that as well. P90X is about pushing your limitations so that your boundaries expand. When you start you won't be able to do nearly what you can when you finish.
I've finished 10 Rounds of P90X, and today cranked through 360 push ups and 135 pull ups in a Chest & Back routine. When I started on day 1 5 years ago I didn't break 75 total in the whole workout.
