Allergies are messing me up. I had to take a benadryl this afternoon, and it knocked me out for a few hours. I managed to stick with NK even with a bad headache, luckily it's gone now.

Today's numbers: 1600 calories, 77 g protein, 136 g fat, 34 g carbs, 14 g fiber.

Breakfast - scrambled eggs & sausage, coffee with hwc and coconut oil.
Lunch - sharp cheddar, half an apple (more like a snack)
Dinner - bunless cheeseburger in lettuce, dark chocolate
I also had a 2nd cup of coffee with hwc between lunch & dinner.

Hey all! Sorry I've been MIA for over a day... I had my doctor's appointment yesterday, and was on the phone with SO all day pretty much after I got home (which wasn't even until around 4pm, ugh!) telling them about what happened and trying to wind down a little. Then I had to explain it to my roommate and STILL have to explain it to my dad, and I got very little sleep in between then and now... so you can probably guess why I wasn't around Laughing

Anyway, that went well. I'll post more about it/more about what I got put on if anyone cares to know... LONG laundry list of stuff, and that's before my blood work even comes back. My doctor is also crazy, but I think it's in a good way Laughing

One thing I'm scared of though is he put me on steroids for my adrenals like I guessed he would because they're SO bad. Just awful. "Pathetic" was the word he used, LOL. It's the natural sort though (hydrocortisone versus prednisone or however you spell that crap) so he CLAIMS I shouldn't gain weight on them. Some people do though, so I'm just sitting here nervous I'm going to gain everything back. If I do I'll flip Razz

Anyway, I'm alive and well! And I'll post my giant laundry list of meds if anyone cares... this dude's 100% natural so ALL supplements pretty much. Happy with that at least. Not happy with the cost of some of them though, but at least he was only $20 to see versus a naturopath or integrated medicine doctor which are not covered at ALL in the state of Michigan and I would have had to pay $200-$500 to see just for the office visit Surprised He's pretty much one of those doctors masquerading around pretending to be a family doctor so more folks can afford to see someone who has a better approach to medicine Smile

I'm so far behind on this thread that I decided to jump in here, and try to read "backwards" as I have time.

Melanie, I sure hope that your new regimen helps.

Clueless, sure hope that your mom is okay.

Bunnie, thanks for the further information about Diet 101. I'd really like to get that book! People at my church are starting to ask me about low-carb. Sounds like that would be a good one to lend out.

So I learned yesterday, unfortunately only AFTER I had eaten it, that Menchie's no sugar added frozen yogurt has more carbs than I thought! I had previously asked an employee at the store, and she looked it up in a book and told me 6g per 1/2 cup serving, which is pretty good for the occasional treat. I ate some yesterday, and went to look up the info online to also get the protein and fat count. Turns out, she was just telling me the sugar content, not the total carbs which are 16 per 1/2 cup! Yikes! So no more Menchie's for me. Crying or Very sad

157.4 lbs. Wooosh!!!

Yesterday the scale said 157.8 lbs, but I didn't believe it. I got dressed, took my morning pills and drank coffee, then went back to weigh again and got whatever I posted yesterday. 159.2?

This morning, I got off again and again, jiggled it with my foot, still 157.4 lbs. So I think the 157.8 yesterday was probably correct . . .

I'll try it again in a few minutes. If it's correct . . . YAY! My pants ARE falling off, was planning on going to Goodwill asap to get some stuff that fits, so maybe the weight is right.

Finally cashing in on my surgery week! Wink I am just now starting to move around more -- going out today.

ALSO: Going to be a zombie not this Friday but the next! YAY! I need some 'rugged outdoors clothes that can get bloody' so I need to go to Goodwill anyway. Smile

Wow! So much to catch up on!

Had a crazy/busy/stressful weekend with lots of fun family drama. Did well initially with IF and stuck to it a couple days then drama hit Sat/Sun and fell off...also pretty sure fell out of NK since I kept sneaking "pinches" of sweetened shredded coconut that I bought for my kiddo...and they didn't have the unsweet option at that store I was in. Boo. Anyway, WI def up and actually didn't even WI this morning, too depressing!

Robin, you might try modifying the IF eating window in situations like this when they develop. Push it out to a 10 hour window instead of 8.

Also, when something is up and it looks like I am not going to be able to stick to goal, the first thing I jettison is my calorie cap. A day or two of over goal calories isn't a bad trade-off for staying on plan. Next I sacrifice my protein goal. I end up with higher protein grams than I know is weigh-loss friendly for me but for a day or two I figure it is okay.

So, for me, the calories are wearing the red shirt, then protein dons the red shirt (fat is always the sad fella assigned to wear the red shirt).

Greta, your comment about the yogurt reminds me of that Seinfeld episode in which they discover the low fat yogurt people loved actually had a ton of fat & calories. Smile

I've stayed away from most low carb ice creams because they usually contain maltitol, which does Very Bad Things to my insides. So Delicious brand has no-sugar frozen treats made with coconut milk and sweetened with erythritol & stevia. They aren't super low carb but okay for an occasional treat.

Well, my Mom finally went to another Dr. Seems the Emergency room dr was brain dead when we took her. The New dr got the work up and MRI results and said she plain as day had a kidney stone and extremely bad urinary tract infection. So yeah! now at least we know the problem and she can get some antibiotics. She also has a small aneurism on her renal artery. We will see a specialist about that.
Happy dance Smile

That is awesome news Cheryl!! Now that you guys know what is wrong your Mom can get fixed up! Hooray!!

317 this morning... Down some, guess im getting back to normal after my injuries... 299 plz

withings is cool. Here is a screenshot of my weight entries since i started weighing on June 16th..

As you all know i travel a lot for work which makes it hard, but i'm still extremely dissapointed that in almost 11 months i've only lost 13 lbs Sad Technically i've lost and gained probably 500 lbs but bleh.

.3 of a lb per week is pretty pathetic for a guy my size. Sadface.jpg

Weigh in: 187.5, getting closer to where I was before my off week. Who knows, I might even make it down to 185 by the end of May. Smile

Sounds like it was a good day Melanie Smile

I like the doc's thinking too. My mom's doc has her taking several natural supplements for health stuff and I really like that.

heh that is clearly a person that does not diet or she'd have been conscientious about getting the info right.

Have ya'll ever noticed that? If you ask about nutritional information there is instantly a camaraderie and co-conspiratorial air that forms Smile

Myles, you are not giving yourself enough credit.

Let me restate what you just said.

In the last 11 months you have gone from gaining weight, being fat and unhappy, to losing weight and you have steadily trended down losing almost 15 pounds over that time period.

*And* you did it despite a job that requires frequent travel which is very tough on a way of eating like NK which requires careful application for people that get health benefits from LC but weight loss is not automatic.

*And* you fell off the wagon several times in the last 11 months.

*And* despite that you *still* lost ~15 pounds after a year instead of gaining it all back plus some.
