*GASPS*

I would never!

...okay, maybe I would Laughing Glad we have a food porn page now Very Happy (and as an aside, anyone else shocked the OTHER forum actually let people use the word "porn" for the food porn pages? I'm surprised THAT didn't get moderated Laughing )

My understanding of net carbs is that fiber can be deducted if it's a natural part of food, like the fiber in flaxseed or broccoli. Adding fiber should not change the carb count. I know we're supposed to count total carbs on NK, I'm just curious about this.

Yep, that's correct... net carbs generally subtract fiber AND sugar alcohols really (that's what the new Atkins does) while Atkins 72 and other plan's net carbs only deduct fiber.

I don't deduct either since I'm following NK like you were mentioning, but I may start paying less attention to the fiber portion of things when in maintenance Smile

Ooooh wow, I just figured out I got my weeks mixed up and discovered why I was probably stuck for a handful of days up a half pound and why I was feeling a bit hungrier too... turns out TOM is THIS week, according to the alarm that just went off on my phone to tell me to stop my meds. NOT next week. I'm surprised I lost anything at all overnight then, yikes! Laughing

Guess I can't celebrate too much about hitting goal since I know it's going to be back up a bit and I won't see another loss for over a week now... sometimes I REALLY hate being a woman Laughing At least I know it's probably not the walking that was doing it though. Geez.

Jump for Joy !!! Yea! Lost down to 232.4. Down from 234 yesterday. Yes, I upped my calories to about 1600. All last week it's been 1000-1200. Not on purpose, but it all counts. I really like some of the aspects of the Perfect Health diet plan. I'm incorporating them into my plan. Mainly, bone broth, good sardines, liver, greens, resistant starch, and other things. Goal is to be as healthy as possible.

Yay! That is a great loss. I think our bodies may try to hold on to fat if we go too low on calories.

I lost 1.6 lbs this week and averaged 1500 calories. It's all water weight because I restarted NK, but it was nice to see I could lose without going super low on calories. I did lower protein slightly, averaging less than 80 g per day.

NK counts total carbs always.

But, as far as I know, if you are eating on a plan that uses net carbs then fiber is subtracted and usually sugar alcohols too. That is how the Atkins prefab stuff gets really low net carbs.

Melanie,
I think you are taller than me but our weight is close.
I was wondering how many calories you eat a day?

Yes, I'm counting total carbs on NK. I had seen posts on other forums about how Lily's was very low carb but it seems they are using Atkins style trickery.

Adding inulin to boost the fiber content and make it seem lower carb seems dishonest. The taste is okay but Lindt and Chocolove have fewer total carbs.

Today's numbers: 1433 calories, 120 g fat, 66 g protein, 35 g carbs.

Breakfast: coffee with hwc & coconut oil, 3 scrambled eggs, 2 sausage patties
Lunch: greek yogurt with hwc, coffee
Dinner: bunless cheeseburger in lettuce
Snack: dark chocolate

I usually buy full fat greek yogurt but the nonfat was on sale. Since it's so thick I can add heavy cream to boost the fat content without thinning it out too much.

I eat about 1550-1600 calories a day, and I'm 5'5" or 5'6" (I really struggle to figure out which one I am when I'm barefoot because I have horrible posture, LOL) Of course part of the reason I'm down so low is due in part to my untreated hypo and my insulin resistance, otherwise I'm sure I could be up where the RDI calculator has me on this site Razz

Hope that helps! I should really be posting my daily logs here like I used to... I just got lazy a long time ago and slacked off. UNACCEPTABLE, self. You've been caught! Laughing

lol, I just wondered. I don't seem to lose unless I keep my calories kinda low and usually I am not hungry unless I am having hormonal issues.
Which I am! I am only 5'1" and that may be a lil white lie, more like 5' lol.
My daughter weighs the same as me or just a tad more but she is your height so she looks much thinner than me.

Okay, time to start being a little less lazy with things and actually post my daily food logs again Laughing I know I find it helpful to see what other people are eating, and I think it keeps me honest too and holds me accountable for everything I have... so it's a good idea anyway! I just won't do my macros because that's the hard part. Baby steps, right? Laughing I know they're pretty spot on anyway from long enough of doing this, so I figure the totals and what I ate should be enough to catch a trend Smile

Food Log For Today:

Breakfast - bulletproof tea, leftover grilled hot dog (yep, WEIRD breakfast Laughing )

Lunch - cookies and cream casein protein egg cream shake (made with 1 scoop of powder, 1.5 cups of unsweetened almond milk, 2T of HWC, 1.5T of MCT oil, and 1 large raw egg)

Dinner - 6 plain chicken wings from Buffalo Wild Wings with a homemade LC SF coconut curry sauce mixed with butter, and my 1 tsp of Carlson Cod Liver Oil

Snacks - 1 bottle of Fuze tropical punch, 1T of EVCO, daily piece of dark chocolate

Other - ACV tonics x3 or x4 (leaning toward 4 because of TOM)

1557 calories, 137g fat, 73g protein (a bit high today, oops!), 10g total carbs, 1417 sodium

Aww see, I'm the opposite... if I ate too little, it seemed like my body would hold onto what fat it had for dear life and I'd either stall out or gain. 1550 seems to be my comfort zone, so I usually try not to go below 1500 EVER. Even when I'm not hungry, I still get the calories in... usually by making a really fattening sauce for something I'm going to eat, or by drinking it somehow or something similar.

I'm the same way as you though, I don't really struggle much with hunger issues anymore unless it's hormonal... and yeah, I'm suffering from the same thing as you at this point unfortunately there Laughing

It does suck being shorter though! I know I'm technically "average" height, but my mom was 5'9" so I obviously take after my dad... but if she had been my current weight when she was still alive, she would have looked THIN Laughing

Clueless, I'm a shortie too! Barely 5' 2" and maybe closer to 5' 1" but I'm in denial. I can lose slowly if I eat between 1400-1500 calories. I'm wary of going below that because I don't want to slow my metabolism and have to maintain later on very low calories.

DH is going to start NK today. Thanks for the help figuring his numbers. I'm going to relax on tracking my stuff for now and focus on him. A true test for maintenance. He likes eating the same stuff over and over so it shouldn't be too hard to get the numbers on a few dishes and keep track. I get sick of the same stuff really fast so we end up eating different stuff sometimes.

I've been having more energy during the day which seems odd since I haven't been sleeping as good for a few nights. Confused
