Great progress, Donna! I agree, that was a fast recovery!!

Today I am holding one of the biggest birthdays I've ever pulled off. Took a month of planning and a week of prep... Including moving furniture and building a "stage" backdrop in my livingroom, a photo shoot backdrop in my front room and makeup and wardrobe section, security guys for the front door, marquee banner out front, but this is going to be an awesome Rockstar party for my 6 year old, Willow. Smile So, if I'm not around much today - I'm wrangling 10 - 6 years olds as their "manager" Smile

I do like how much easier it is to navigate and post from my phone here.

159.8 lbs.!

Woot! Woot! Broke that glass floor of 161 lbs! Smile I hope I can stay below, but know it's due to my surgery on Monday and I haven't had much of anything -- but I did stay NK (probably low on protien) the whole recovery time.

I made LC chicken soup ahead of time, then blended it and added HWC and butter and drank it from a mug. Yummy! And I didn't have to chew. My dog, Buddy, LOVED licking the mug when I was done! LOL

Yesterday I only had:

Fat Coffee (2 mugs)
Homemade Beef Patty w/butter

Wasn't hungry until bedtime, didn't want to eat something big so I had a couple pats of butter.

I know that was not an ideal day, very low calorie and not enough of . . . anything, but for me sometimes I need a day like that to bump down. I just wasn't hungry and I went to the dr. to get my cast off -- busy days I sometimes don't eat as much.

I'm not into eating when not hungry --- is that against NK? I ate the butter before bed because I WAS hungry, but didn't want to go to bed with food on my stomach.

Well, I couldn't watch most of the videos because I am a complete pansy where pain and suffering are concerned. But the after video was really incredible! I couldn't tell you'd had an operation. I could see the difference in your nose despite the swelling and your chin too.

You look great Donna! Smile

Thanks, Darin! Very Happy

I know some people don't watch surgery stuff -- but I eat it up. I hate that our cable channel took the MEDICAL CHANNEL and put it in a higher priced package. Now I don't get to watch surgeries anymore . . . Sad LOL

I love my new nose, even though it's supposed to be swollen -- it's a great improvement right now over what I had before so I'm ecstatic! Smile It balances my whole face and now I can finally NOT have to wear bangs to try to cover up my profile view! Smile

GOAL: 2013 is the year I get AWESOME! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Nope.

Actually, NK doesn't really address the issue directly. Phinney indirectly addressed it (they were talking about IF) in the LTS podcast when he advised eating at least two meals a day and I think he said he thought three meals was best.

I came to the conclusion that allowing LC's appetite suppression to let your calories stay too low for too long was not conducive to weight loss. When you get too low on calories other metabolic processes are affected so it isn't as simple as eat little to nothing and watch the fat melt away.

Anecdotally you can see the proof all around the LC community. If it worked that way there'd be a huge success rate for LC by simply taking advantage of the absence of hunger and not eating. But what really happens is it makes you stall and eventually you fall off plan either from frustration at not losing weight or from getting hungry or cravings. Not to mention the health aspects of very low calorie living.

But! If there is some reason to take advantage of the natural appetite suppression, like your surgery, then I think it is perfectly fine to use it to your benefit.

Weigh in this morning: 188.4, down from 190 but still above my previous low of 187. I've only had coffee with hwc this morning because I could not decide what to eat. I'll probably fix some eggs for brunch, then eat an early dinner around 5 pm.

Donna, I don't eat if I am not hungry but that rarely lasts more than a day or two.

Weigh-in this morning ... 192.8 for a bounce back to where I've been hovering for a few days. But as long as I stay at about this weight or less I'll average about a two pound loss from last week's average which was 195 Smile

See guys? I told you Donna looked awesome! Smile Congrats on the great new look and the new opportunities... and the losses, wow! A lot of times when my body is in pain ore recovering from something (like right now) I find that I actually retain water and sometimes gain. I'm impressed! Surprised

That acting thing sounds like it'll be a BLAST too! I used to love acting, and wanted to get into it but like most things I'm interested in I just didn't see it going anywhere for me at the time... especially living in BFE Michigan Razz

Still at the same boring weight today... blah Laughing I think my toe is kind of contributing to that though maybe. Or maybe I've been at the park too much on top of that and I've slowed my metabolism a bit, although when I walk I don't speed walk or jog... so that might not be it. I'm going to go with the toe injury. And the extra weight from the wrappings I had to put on it and all that tape Laughing

I must be in the minority when it comes to eating when I'm not hungry. I agree that overeating is definitely not good, but while I've been on NK in weight-loss-mode I've been logging everything I'm going to have for the day and sticking to it whether I wanted it or not... because I didn't want to wind up under in calories and slow my progress down. I'm wondering if maybe occasional days like that might do more good than bad though, if some can get away with it? Razz I always attributed my relative success despite my medical conditions to the fact that I've stuck 100% to plan even when I didn't want to... and that included eating that extra snack at night if I didn't want to, or finishing my dinner even when I was full enough already just to get in enough calories.

Hmm... things I've been pondering lately while being temporarily halted at the same weight Laughing

I've had a long standing interest in very moderate calorie cycling. But it is all voodoo on my part. I haven't read anything that would indicate that alternating calorie deficits actually has a metabolic affect other than anecdotal stuff from JUDDD advocates and success stories (which is powerful testimony no doubt). But I don't agree with the super low DD that that plan entails.
