Hi Is it too late to join? I sure could use some motivation and support. I tried this before and didn't last long so I am back again hopefully this time I can stick to it. I let my carb craving get the best of me. I have trouble sticking and staying focus. That is one of my weakness. the other is sweets I love them. I am a busy mom of 7 kids ranging from 4 to 21. My oldest doesn't live with me anymore. It hard with a family of 8 and living on a budget. My hubby doesn't work due to 2 torn ACL in both knees. He is also diabetic and a very picky Italian. Everything is pasta this or pasta that lol. I am the only one doing low carb. Everyone doesn't support low carb as they think it unhealthy. So I am alone in this. I am 45 and need to lose over 90 lbs. I am currently 227 lbs. I restarted yesterday with the Atkins plan. My calories was on the low side but my net carb was 24. So I don't know what I am doing that wrong. I had three meals yesterday. I drunk 64 oz of water too. I sure would love to join your forum as I see it very active and that what I need. Sandy

good morning all, welcome to the group Sandy! You are probably not eating enough fat, I have not looked at your food diary yet, but normally that's the case. Fat will bring your calories up, keep you feeling FULL too. Try to have it at every meal, oil and vinegar (white or apple cider vinegar) on salads, butter on veges, avocado, coconut oil is a good oil to use too, it gives food a good flavour, I can eat it by the spoonful it's so nice Smile Your husband would really benefit by eating low carb- I don't really make a big deal of announcing the meals I cook are LC, I just serve the food, if anyone is here for dinner (guests) they prob' would not even realise they are eating LC Smile
ps it's never too late to join - big welcome!

Hi Sandy - it's never to late to join. This group is pretty supportive. Not that I'm really good at this yet but I know that sugar free pop cycles are not allowed.

I myself found that when I started I wasn't eating induction like I though I was. I watched a video that Tenkilos recommended, "

Dr Eric Westman

Found this a very good video, he's chatting to patients in his clinic, telling them how to go low carb. one day at a time.

This video helped me understand the induction better. I've now been on induction for 14 days, doing ok even through holiday picnics.

If you can't get to the video - go back about 4 pages and look under tenkilo posting, you see a good connection to it.

Welcome aboard! Very Happy

Sandy it is never too late to join in! Welcome Smile I agree with Linda - definitely up your carbs. I make a lot of recipes and do not let my husband know they are LC until after dinner..lol

Rdrunnr Even though your dessert may have been more carbs than you wanted you had a much better option and stuck to your guns!!! That is a win in my book; way to go!!

Gina I am happy to hear that your daughter arrived safely in France! Now for a whole new type of worry!!! I am a jeans person too! Love my jeans and even moreso since they are size 12 now...haha! It is fun to dress up sometimes though, and I will enjoy wearing the dresses that I have not been able to wear. It will help remind me of my hard work when I am at the luncheons and so forth! Ha! I have not heard anyone mention Redeye gravy since I moved from the South!! You put a smile on my face girl!!! Way to go on the 5K and swim!!

As for meI successfully survived Pig Out in the Park with my Husband. I was so proud of myself all weekend. I seem to be stuck though on the scale, but took my measurements and there is loss. However, I think I am going to go back and look at my diary when I was 200 before and what I was doing to get down to 193 (where I got stuck again!). I am sure some Fat Fast was in there. I am getting ready to boil some eggs...those are great to get the fat up and stay full, and so tasty!! So depending on what my food diary tells me I may be looking at a Fat Fast some this week!

Have a great day everyone!!

Back from holiday weekend and back into eating correctly. Went to visit family for holiday and sister's birthday. I was mindful of my eating - not great but not too bad. My downfall was the wine. Ok, back to my no-alcohol-during-the-week rule.

Tummy feeling very bloated; I think maybe I'm not drinking enough water? I've always drunk a lot of liquid due to kidney issues, but perhaps this weekend threw my system off. I'll be hitting the water cooler at work a lot today!

Trying to solve my problem of not enough fat in my diet, I've hit on raw pecans; the lowest carb and high fat nuts I could find. An ounce or two a day for snacks keeps me full. Am always on the lookout for high-fat foods that are also low carb! I plan to poke around the Atkins menu thread for some more ideas.

Have a good day everyone!

Hello all,

Linda - I've been eating I think the right way but it seems that my protein is to high and my fat not high enough. I did coffee with coconut oil several times today. I may go make some coconut candy to help.

Jaime - Great surviving the "pig out in the park". Even the name sound scary, great will power. Laughing I think a fat fast may be in my future also.

Berley - wine makes me bloated too. My hands and feet swell as well. Rolling Eyes Although I do occasionally go for a vodka and club soda, no tonic, way too many carbs.

I'm going back and check my food calendar and see what to do to increase my weight loss. I know I must increase my fat because I feel hungry right now. Confused

Talk to you all tomorrow! Good Night.

Hello to all, sounds like a successful holiday for everyone. I am trying to get back on this thing. So far I don't think I am eating enough but I love carrots so they have been more carbs than I would like but much better than I was eating. I need to find my book or go on the website and figure it out again start planning for a week or so. Does anyone have any tips on time saving or preparation or anything really.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone

Rdrnr try deviled eggs. I use a tbsp of mayonnaise to one egg and it is very filling and a good way to bump up your fat.

Rdrnr, have you ever tried diet tonic water? No carbs, but may have sugar alcohols (if that's a problem for you). The taste is just a little different but you get used to it quickly.

Hey guys, hows everyone? Thanks for all the support and prayers. Fell completely apart, spent 4 days in the psych ward being evaluated. On zoloft now and getting outpatient counseling. Things are starting to look up Smile I am back to exercising and trying to get out of the house a little more often.

Hi to all the new members. Keep working hard!

Hello everyone!

Welcome Frog - there's a video that helped me a lot. I mentioned it above - tenkilos put it on here.

Jaime - I do boiled eggs with mayo when I have them. I'll need to go boil some tonight.

Berley - I did have some diet tonic water at home before. It's just when I go out, they never have anything diet to mix with vodka. Actually I usually look for diet & caffine free. Rolling Eyes They give me the you've got to be kidding look!

Dialup - glad your back and glad things are looking up! I still don't have the desire or "umph" to exercise yet. Although I know it will help. I keep waiting for my life to calm down a bit.

Hectic day, today and again tomorrow. Not anything I didn't expect, I put pressure on myself. I own a day care & voluntarily joined Keystone Stars and Success By 6. Which means more training, more meetings, more paperwork, more inspections, more, more, more! Shock But it will make us better and be beneficial to our children's development.
Although some of the teachers can't hang. Anyone looking for work as an infant teacher in PA?????

Have a good night everyone - got to get some sleep - another inspection tomorrow by St. Joseph's University, yeah.

Good morning everyone! I made it back to Onederland! Happy about that. I am trying to cut out as much processed and dairy right now as I can. However, I did have a piece of bacon yesterday and some pork skins last night AND butter in my coffee so not doing GREAT. I wonder though if Amish butter counts since it is supposed to be more on the fresh and non-processed side of things...not sure. However, I will try my coffee without it today but I cannot give up my Walden Farms...I have given up the heavy whipping cream. Just trying to do this for a week to hopefully shake things up. I am happy to be in Onederland and will see how it goes. I think I initially said that I would like to be at least at 197 by the time of the wedding and we are 16 days from it. So I am going to keep walking the straight and narrow and try to get it on down. 193 would be awesome but I am happy with 197..and not going to be greedy....hahaha!!

I hope you all have a great day!

Okay, I'm FURIOUS! I finally get back on and type 48 minutes of responses, hit "post" and nothing. NOTHING! Everything gone, and you guys KNOW how fast I type!
It's okay, I'll calm down. Type it in Word, then copy it here this afternoon. IN THE MEANTIME, you guys know I'm thinking of you REGARDLESS of what FS lets me do! Back soon.

Hi all!
First, I really need to apologize for being off the grid. I think the last time I was here, I had just come back from Switzerland.
A lot has happened in a couple of months. I'm not even going to try to get caught up on the 428 (!) posts. I am really glad to see the group alive and thriving!

I'll try to make this short and sweet.

Right after we got back from Switzerland, my fiancee and I went camping in Texas. While there, I got bit by a tick. I caught it fast, the sucker couldn't have been on there for long but I did get extremely sick about three hours after I ate and by the next day, I'd developed a rash. So we went home early, I made an appointment with my doctor and he sent me home with antibiotics and told me to keep an eye on things.

I kept getting sick about three hours after eating and one night had a reaction so bad that I went to the ER. They couldn't give me any kind of diagnosis. But they sent me home with an epi pen.
This continued for about a month.
One day, I started looking up my symptoms and since everything started after the tick bite, that's where I started. I found out about Lone Star Tick Disease, realized that I had ALL of the symptoms. Spent an hour arguing with my doctor about getting me the test and lo and behold, I have a meat allergy now from that tick bite.
There's still not a lot known about it. I might outgrow it in about a year or more. I may not. Some people only react to red meat, I am one of the lucky few that is now reacting to all meat and most dairy products. (Along with my gluten intolerance this is making eating a chore.)

So, by necessity, I am now vegetarian. I'm working with my nutritionist to find a way to continue doing low (or lower) carb which is proving to be insanely difficult.

But. I'm back. And, I missed you guys.
Smile
- Toni

Toni it is so wonderful to hear from you! Oh my gosh that is so terrible, honey I am so sorry to hear about this! As soon as you mentioned the tick I thought Lyme Disease (my Stepdad and Brother both have dealt with that), but oh my goodness I have not heard about Lone Star Tick Disease!!! You are right that makes eating an even bigger chore with he Gluten Intolerance. I have missed you, and very happy to see you back here. I will keep you in my prayers that you quickly 'grow' out of this.

Toni, meat allergy oh wow. That would put a crazy spin on things. Hopefully, it won't last as long as a year. Hope you can find a "Happy Place" for carbs in the meantime.

Hey, where is everybody????? Shock

My group log says no one has posted since my post back on September 5th. Is everyone hiding? Or, is it my turn to have posting problems?
