So last night my husband brings home Thai...not bad. I had Garlic chicken with celery in it and no rice or noodles. But, why oh why does he bring me crab rangoons? He knows I like them that is why, but he also knows that I will avoid them. Of course I ate them and they were delicious. Grrrr....so have to work extra hard today. THEN he asks me if I am coming to this thing his company is sponsoring after work. I say "yes, after my work out". He says "well check with me first because it may be over or almost over" Then when he leaves "if you want you can skip your work out and come on out" Wow, really???? Yes, I f---ing want to skip my work out. Do you think it is f---ing fun for me????? I do it because I cannot depend on you to walk or bike with me when you get home!!!!!!!!!!

Okay breathing deep...I know I am coming off of TOM and there has been Full Moon. So if he mentions it to me again I am going to say "I will be happy to skip my work out if you are going to walk and bike with me Saturday and Sunday both to help me make up for it." See what he says then. It is either too hot or he is too tired. You know what? I am tired after work too. I get up and start work at 5am and then I work out and then I have to do laundry and cook and clean. So give me a BREAK....grrrr...okay really this is TOM and Full Moon talking. I just needed to vent. hahaha

Okay so I am going to try to take a real 'lunch' today and do my C210K then and try to get ready to go be with my husband. I will not do any cleaning I had planned (won't make the bed either which he cannot stand, but he could have made it this morning...lol). Then I will just bike or walk by myself this weekend or he can suck it up and go with me.

It really is TOM that makes me this Evil B**ch LOL!

Hi all and happy Friday! Doing pretty well on my diet but struggling to keep my fat intake high enough. I've heard people talk about coconut oil and I thought I saw a thread about it but now can't find it. Can anyone direct me to it or give me a quick low-down on what you do with it? Most of my fat is coming from cheese (I know, only 4 oz/day), eggs and peanut butter (which I love love love, but has carbs so have to be careful). We bbq chicken a lot and am leaving the skin on so that helps, too. Any quick and easy suggetions for other ways to keep my fat intake up? Sorry if this is old or basic stuff that I should be finding somewhere else... Thanks!!

Berley1 do you like avocado? Coconut oil is really only good for frying...it is a solid at room temperature and has a high smoke point. You can also add it to coffee in the morning.

Hey Berley - I make what is referred to as bullet proof coffee and it has a tbsp of real butter and a tbsp of coconut oil in it. Blend it and it gets all frothy and I know it tastes gross but it is really good. I think it helps curb appetite and a lot of people say it gives them energy. Either way it will help get your fat up very easily. Also, some people do it the same way but in hot tea.

If you google bullet proof coffee you will find a lot of information for it. I have it everyday and a lot of people do. It is also full of MCT oil and is supposed to have a lot of health benefits Smile

Thank you Goodbyeold and Jaime!! I love avocados and forgot about them; I'll pick some up today. I don't drink coffee, but will try the coconut oil in tea this weekend. I'll try to google some recipes for it too. I picked some up at lunchtime today, but not sure it's exactly what I want because it says "refined" on the label. Does it matter if it's refined or virgin? Can I use it in place of, say, butter or oil in cooking? Or is it pretty much the same? Thank you very much!!!

You can cook with it. Also, if you look up 'fat bombs' it is a type of dessert that uses coconut oil and is delicious. You can use it for those too. It can replace butter for cooking and I think refined or virgin is fine.

Good evening everyone!
Berley1 - like Jaime said - I have coconut oil everyday in my coffee. I use 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of heavy whipping cream and 1 tablespoon of walden farms caramel syrup. It is sugar and calorie free. Anyway I toss it in the blender and I have a wonderful frothy drink.

Even though I start my day with this instead of breakfast, by the end of the night my fat intake is sometimes not high enough. Tonight I tried the caramel pudding. It was very good. Thanks for posting that recipe. I tweeked it a little, I used cream cheese, sour cream and walden farms caramel dip. YUM Very Happy

As for me, today is the 4th day of actual induction. So far so good. Only hit 10 carb grams today but went over my RDI's. But if the scale shows a loss I guess it's ok right. All the other days, I was way under my RDI's but stayed at 20 carbs.

Tomorrow I head for the shore and the weekend at the casinos. I have a new confidence and WILL stick to my induction. Wink

Hope all is well with everyone!

Hello All!
This will be my 3rd attempt to get a post to go. Tried all last night. Ahhhh the joy of kids!
Welcome to GoodbyeOld. Hope you find us helpful and amusing.

JEN ! Glad to see you with your head in the game. My prayers are with you. Fantastic to see your ticker! Netzero huh? lol We were AOL users back in the day when there was "pay by the minute"...course that wasn't too bad, there wasn't much internet to look at either!

RDRUN and BERLEY.... I've forgotten what an "appropriate" amount of fat is, but my daily is always loaded with it. I think it's mayonnaise. I use it for everything.

Yesterday I was attending "Meet and Great" and about 15 people asked me if I was losing weight. ROFL.. okay, remember I started this in Jan and had lost 22 pounds before school was out. Guess it was the next 20 pounds that showed! Regardless, I guess it was evident to people who hadn't seen me since June. Several asked me how, one told me that she had been walking every day for NINE days, and SHE hadn't lost "hardly any"! rofl.. AND LITERALLY roFL. I laughed right in her face, I couldn't help it. I said, "Girlfriend, really. Did you gain all that weight in 9 days?" A big frown appeared on her face and she said, in all seriousness "I don't need to hear logic, I just want to see results, NOW".
Yeah, don't we all. When I look back, I can't see the beginning of my weight gain, but I know somewhere, 30 lbs up I knew I should have done something, and didn't. So, 60 lbs down the road I have no one to answer to but myself. Now that I'm down 42 lbs I have no one to credit but myself. Weight management can be left to no one. That being said, there are those who must address medical and mental health issues that complicate weight management. I am blessed to have neither and I KNOW I'm blessed. Well, my medical issues caused me to address my weight, but there is no medical condition that would prevent weight loss.
My original loss goal was 50 lbs, which I wasn't sure I could even do, given my lifestyle and age, but I was dang well going to give it everything I had. However, I've proven to myself that 50 lbs is not only achievable and maintainable, but ultimately that other 10 lbs can come off too. Regardless of lifestyle. Regardless of age. Truth be told, I don't feel any different. I've always had limitless energy. I DID notice the blood pressure and cholesterol which is what sent scrambling to ATKINS in Jan months before I went to the Dr. in April.
SUNKEEPER has taught me, by example, to stay the course. I'll be here forever because when I finally get to BLUE I'll want to look at it everyday Smile Who thought I would ever like blue, it's not even in my top 10 of fav colors!!
K... I'm hushing. This probably won't ever go anyway, haha.

GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally got all of my internet issues irradicated and am able to come back and rock this weight loss journey again. I know that I have specific goals for November and I'm going to reach them or die trying! I have so completely missed you guys and the support that you all give on a daily basis. I look forward to going through the recipes and getting some new stuff going and soon. I also have a gym at work that I can go and get my daily exercise. It's time to re-embrase this WOL (I haven't completely been off the beaten path just taken the side roads a little more than occasionally)

Rachel so happy you goy your internet back! We are in this together Smile
Carby so well done, I had a laugh about 'the girlfriend' who said she had been walking 9 days and had lost hardly any... loved your reply Smile
It is a long haul, and we do have to make it a life style... not a diet, just a change.

Gina - loved the post and glad it went through. Very true!! We can do this.

Rachel!!!!! So happy to see you. We all know about side roads. Glad you are here and you are right we can make our goals!!

As for me we went out of town over the weekend and I did damage in the way of wine. However, today I am back on it and got to get in a lot of miles to meet my 15 mile weekly challenge. We walked this weekend but I didn't track it so not sure how much we did. So I will need to bike and treadmill it today. That is okay I need to do it to get this wine out of my system fully. I think we are going to hydroboat races this weekend but I will NOT partake of any alcoholic beverages!!!!!!!

Have a great day all.

In October it will be one year that I actually changed my way of eating and lifestyle. I had done Atkins before (in the past) but didn't change my lifestyle so each time I would gain the weight back and maybe even more. This time I have stayed the course. True...there are times that I may have detoured, but I always got back on the course. That is success in my book. I am still not a goal but it is likely I would have been except for my detours. However, I view them as a learning experience and they have helped me get where I am.

It is possible to get there! We did not gain weight overnight and we will not lose it overnight.

True Jaime, I'm the same, so close to goal but too many detours too. Well the good thing is we are still here! We did not 'give up' or 'give in' It's taking a bit longer but heck thats okay.
I'm in Sydney helping my daughter with the new baby (3months) as she has an assignment due at the end of this week, home tonight or tomorrow, we will see how she does today Smile
