I'll try to keep a stiff upper lip! Thanks! It is so nice to have people here daily to help keep me in line! Sorry I've been off a couple days I have had some person garbage to deal with! BUT I'm here now. I was thinking of looking at the "Advocare" diet program and tailoring it to low carb. Anyone have experience with it? I'm still holding my own weight wise right now. BUT I'm about to go crazy otherwise! BE TRUE TO YOU!!!!

Oh My Oh My,
What a crazy life! If I have any free time I have no computer or internet!
Well, let's see who's talking.....

Linda - I haven't been able to get a strong enough internet connection to see any of the video you posted. How was the book parade? By the way, I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out what "pork mince" is. If you'll clue me in I'm sure I'll have a recipe!

Jen - I'm sure the specialist will have all the answers. I'm betting they'll be the right ones for you guys.

Jaime - Here's hoping you enjoy TOM as the alternative is not actually a blessing either! It's been way harder to actually lose weight since his demise, but easier to stick to for some reason. Guess I'm just so old that it's easier to stick to it... lol. I'm not much on car shows, but the walking at least makes it productive. Since we've been back I've been unable to get my 4 miles in. Just can't be helped. I'm struggling in what little I can as I figure anything is better than nothing, but I refuse to go off my woe. At least THAT I can control. Sometimes I feel sure I can understand anorexia. It's not about food, it's about control. (So says Gina) I'm reading back to your recipe. I guess I'll have to find some SF Carb Free syrup somewhere and try that. It sure looks inviting. I still think there should be caramel clouds... they'd have to be good. Oh, and speaking of... my original batch of clouds is slowing disappearing. I think I have 5 left. I made mine twice as big as the recipe called for because I knew I would never eat just one, might as well start off with two.. haha. THey've been nice to have, and although I could have eaten the whole batch at once, I just threw them in the back of the freezer and left them. They seem to keep nicely.

JMA I don't have any personal experience with Advocare, but RedHolly just completed that regime and her final thought was that it wasn't worth the money. She did lose a few pounds, but I'm sure that was going to come off anyway. Guess really it's just a personal choice thing. I know it's expensive.

WICKED - Glad to see you're still with us, look forward to hearing from you again.

RDRUN Hmmmm. Okay, It's a mantra you're after.... try..
"I love buffets, I can make endless CHOICES". I love buffets because I can eat ALL I CHOOSE!" And... you are correct. Every single thing there can be had another day. Just skip right past things that aren't low carb with the mental note that you simply aren't going to eat them THIS time. Of course, you could choose to just wreck your WOE but then you'd be bloated, starving and miserable....... just saying.

I defy anyone to look at my diet calendar for today and tell me where in there it looks like I didn't have what I WANTED to eat. I never bother to "count" anymore.. I know what to do, but it surprised me today to see that the total calories was under 1500 and the net carbs under 14... and I'm SO stuffed, even now. I ate things today that aren't DAILY items on my menu..tortilla, sour cream, brussel sprouts. Man, I'm telling you, that 3 gram whole wheat tortilla is fantastic.

SUNKEEPER Here's hoping you at least read some of the posts. We could be stuck here for ages trying to figure out how to work the tickers! Amazing how quickly we can forget things. I truly appreciate having mine work again and the minute you said "weigh in" on the other site it immediately came back to me. I'm not having any trouble remembering it NOW as I"m having to do it every time in order to record my weight......which, brings me to

about me. I've got the craziest things going on around here. For the first time in weeks (I'm guessing 3 weeks without getting up to check) I'm registering ketosis on the ketostix. But, since yesterday I've added 1.6 pounds.. ROFL. Who knows what that is.....less exercise is the probable culprit, or it could be water retention or simply too many calories. I'm not about to flip out about it. I had already planned a "taco night" for today and was just about to skip it when I realized that that was stupid. I'm eating like I should. I'm not about to let the scale stop me from eating ONE low carb taco. That's plain goofy. I'll control the way I eat, not letting the way I eat control me. Sheesh.
Also on the home front. Some of the kiddos are in school already, one goes back next Monday, and my study abroad baby leaves for France on the 28th. That last one's giving me a little trouble. I've never been away from any of my kids that long. I'm excited FOR her, just not excited for her to be gone, but I guess she can spend my money in France just as well as she does it here Smile
Since I couldn't walk today I swam a bit. Still so very hot here and the water is still like bath water, but it was exercise after all. Oh, I got really excited today when I realized that TWO tablespoons of Sour Cream had only 1 gram of carbs.... wonder why I haven't been eating it? AND, my brussels sprouts? 2net for 2/3 cup. WOW, what a life!

Okay Gina your taco night reminded me of a picture I saw. Someone took grated cheese and put it on a pan in a circle and into the oven. It melted and then they pulled it out and shaped it up like a taco and then let it cool and it stayed that way...hahaha....okay sorry so random but it made me think of it. The caramel 'pudding' is sooooo good and sooooo full of FAT!!!!!!!!!

I will come on here later and make a fuller entery!

I've tried everything you all have posted regarding the ticker and it is stuck on the weight I posted from early this month. I tried going to the other fatsecret site and weighing in there but it hasn't moved. Is anyone else still having issues with it? I just took it off my signature until it gets fixed.

jlo - that is great! Congrats on another victory!

I have tried everything too and my ticker just refuses to show up...oh well. I finished week 1 of the challenge that I am in 15 miles a week. Today starts week 2 and although I have felt 'rundown' all day and COLD (sitting here working with a blanket wrapped around me) I will get my exercise in today. As long as I am still cold I may just go outside and walk after work. I hopped on the scale and it is UP!! I am not going to record it because I am sure it has something to do with TOM (that bastard). 32 days until the wedding. I am sticking with being completely back on plan and aside from TOM would probably be feeling great. I made the cheeseburger quiche the other day and it was GREAT. So that is what I had for lunch yesterday and what I will be having for lunch today. Fish for dinner tonight (that is the plan right now, anyway). I think I will start dress shopping after the end of this month. So back to work it is. I hope everyone is having a great day.

Good Afternoon....I am stuck at 197...but am not worried...at least it is not going UP!

Dialup....SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOSS! I did envitro for a couple of years...took once....and lost it....so gave up....and then an ANGEl gave me her twin baby boys to raise! I truly believe that that was where I was supposed to be the whole time....

For those of you who like the Atkins bars....If you have an Aldi's, check out the MILLVILLE Chocolate Coconut and Caramel Nut bars....

Have a great day!

Smile Hello All!

JAIME, LINDA & ALMOST - I'm thinking we've jinxed our scales with that AMAP foolishness Smile Don't worry girls, it has to be the moon or something. We can't all be doing 100% AND gaining.. LOL

MYRNA! - I was about to think you'd gone back to school with the boys! Stuck is good! Me?, I just like looking at my weight history... but not too long or I get seasick with the waves, lol.

JLO - <shrugging> dunno. Sunkeepers trick has never failed me (unless of course, I just forgot how to do it Smile !

JAIME - Did you post that caramel pudding recipe in the recipe thread? I hope so. HEY! I've got the greatest "no-stick" pan ever. Got TONS of grated extra sharp cheddar. I'm thinking I'll try the "cheese" taco shell. My CarbBalance has 3net per tortilla. 3 oz of cheddar is a LOT. If it doesn't work for a shell, it'll make a great fried cheese snack. How clever will that be?

Does anyone eat the Eden's Black Soy (beans)? Someone told me that they make a marvelous chili and they can be used as black or pinto beans in any recipe including refried beans. I found them online but I don't want to order a case without some input from some low carbers. I'm getting to the point now that I need to "broaden my horizons" without broadening my hips. I'm perfectly happy eating salad, grilled meat, green veggies and SF jellow 24/7, but I'd like to have something to fall back on when winter sets in and I feel the need for something "heavy". I've read reviews that say you can use them in Ham/Bean soup.....which, come to think of it, uses the beans for thickener...
I did make some extremely low carb chili a few months back and it was terrific, but I threw out 3 of the 4 servings because I forgot to freeze OR eat it. I'm thinking it would have been even better with beans.

Betting some of you "northerners" are going to be home-bound fairly soon with the fall coming. You can all belly up to the bar and let us know what your winter favs are. We have summer here for 10 months, Spring 2 weeks, Fall 2 weeks, and A frigid winter where the temps sometimes fall near freezing for that 1 month that's left. We know when it's winter here when it rains for 30 days straight. <shrugging> Oh well, nothings perfect, but we are still swimming everyday and the water is still HOT, while some of you have already closed your pools Smile

Okay, all this food talk has made me hungry, so, Fresh Express here I come! I gotta say guys that this time, compared to 25 years ago, is a cake walk.... er, or something. Back then we didn't have low carb alternatives to anything and we certainly did NOT have prepacked and labeled things like Fresh Express salads. You guys that are new to low carbing will never understand the original Atkins, which didn't have "net" carbs. It was simply meat, eggs, cheese and salad greens... then slowly return the veggies then nuts then other veggies until you hit maintenance. Okay, that's simplified a bit, but basically sound. Not much wiggle room and not many options. The shelves and internet are now a superstore of low carb options if you are so inclined. Smile I've purchased about 8 - 10 low carb items but only one has been opened...LOL. I wonder if CarbQuick goes bad? Here's hoping it doesn't!

Oh, yes, my ticker is accurate.. guess I shouldn't have been bragging about that 6 pound to goal!

Good Evening All,

tenkilos - I watched the Dr. Westman video. I think that helped me more than reading the book. I saved it to my favorites in case I need a boost. Actually I've watched it twice and took notes. Smile

Carb Tracker - you are absolutely right! I can look at the buffet in a good way. I will eat all I want of the right things for me. This anniversary weekend will go smoothly.

Jaime - When I'm ready, I will look at the posting for the recipes for crispy cheese tacos and the caramel pudding. Right now I need to be strong on the Induction but am looking forward to them they sound really good.

I have been eating too many vegetables. Today I started over, I limited my spinach salad at lunch to 2 cups, I have the other half for tomorrow. I ate out (Applebees) for my grand daughter birthday. Had steak with fried onions and broccoli.

I believe I stayed on track today, for the first time, and I am completely full. I probably should have stopped before I ate it all because I was feeling full. So that's what I have to work on.

My goal is to completely follow this for at least 2 weeks, no matter what comes up - anniversary, birthday, reunions, vacations - no more excuses! I would say wish me luck but luck has nothing to do with it.

Talk about late bloomers - I've been in denial and yo-yoing for a year now. Shock

Now to get my ticker going in the right direction!

Rd well done, it's a good video for a bit of a reminder to us who have been doing it a while, and for beginners too.
I think we can over complicate things - watching the video made me realise I need to simplify, and he teaches us how.

A good watch overall Smile

Hello All (yes, all 464 of you)

RDRUN - yup, you are correct. Luck has NOTHING to do with it. You're getting it!

BERLEY
- Good to see you.

LINDA
- I'm guessing the video is good, but am unable to view it at present (see explanation below)

Okay, here's the problem. We have very limited bandwidth here we are on satelite. Not too terrible of a problem as we password protected our wi-fi, but really, limited.
So, we left town for 14 days, leaving our soon to be shipped off to France collegiate kid, home alone. As of yesterday, we have NO internet access until Sept 4. Yes, folks, you heard correctly, SEPT 4. I don't know how many of you rural guys are stuck with satelite, but you don't get overage charges or anything like that. There simply isn't enough to go around, so when you use your's up, they just simply CLOSE the door. Of course, we still HAVE internet, it's like the old 16.2 dialup. You can't even read, much less accomplish anything. Forget banking, that requires FAR too much... so.. here I sit with basically NO internet until Sept 4.....AWWWK! How many days is that anyway?
Actually we do have some, no, plenty of bandwidth left, but it's only accessible between 2am and 8 am. So, you can just GUESS when I'm posting this. For those of you in the same type situation I expect some sympathy, for the rest of you.... nah. You'll never understand what it's like!
Okay, I have to go get my banking in before I doze off.. LOL........... Sheeesh, kids!

Gina that is such a pain! I work from home and would be packing up and going to the local coffee shop and working all day (I have actually done that before) it is such a pain and I was so stressed out a majority of the time.

So how are you all doing with your AMAP? I think I am doing pretty good. Even on my day that I was so beat down I got in something so I felt accomplished. I feel like my body has trimmed down a little but haven't weighed yet...well I have but because of TOM it is nothing that I would post.

Yesterday I picked up some more coconut oil. I ran out and it has been warm and I don't like hot coffee when it is hot. However, it is now cooling down here in the mornings (49 degrees this morning) so I am ready for some hot coffee. I am hoping it is perfect timing to have some bullet proof coffee and help me with my fats and so forth. I figure today or tomorrow I can start checking my weight again.

Yesterday I actually rode my bike and did the C210K - I needed to make up for the weak day that I had on Tuesday. Today not sure what I will do yet, but it will be something.

I hope you all have a great day and here is to doing as much as each of us can to be healthier!

Okay I kind of goofed. I needed more coconut oil and read that cold pressed is best so was looking for it. I found it and although I saw 'curry' on it I really did not register. It really is curry infused. If you love curry it would be great to cook with. I went ahead and made my coffee because really it is too expensive to waste but I may use it to put on my face and moisturize too. The coffee has a bit of a spicy chocolate kick to it because I added my walden farms sugar free, calorie free chocolate syrup so it is okay. However, for those of you that like curry you should definitely be on the look out for the infused coconut oil.

Good morning all, working hard to get out of my funk. Gina, I feel your pain lol. We had netzero FREE dial up for years. 10 hours a month and then youre out! Took 20 minutes just to pull up the Google page lol
