Almost, go back to 20nc for a few days to get back into ketosis-and have lots of fat to keep those cravings at bay Smile

Beat, avocado has a certain texture that not everyone likes, I must admit I'm a butterholic! I cooked pork chops and broccoli tonight for dinner, got the butter out of the fridge and ate a couple of teaspoons before putting on the broccoli, added a squeeze of fresh lemon, yum.

Ogliz, pat on back for the exercise LOL work on the food choices this week Smile Tickers are annoying, I got rid of mine because I always got a 'something went wrong' message when updating my weight. Might try again and see if it works-it's random.

Good day today, lovely warm winters day, no wind, took my art to an art market, sat in the sun with friends, very relaxing, and sold a few Smile Bliss.

Food wise very good spot on, feeling full all the time, ketone strips deep pink so very happy.

Happy Saturday all. Off to the Family Reunion at the farm this afternoon..bringing a bag of celery and tomatoes along for me to eat as I know that there will be nothing low carb based on past experience.
Tenkilos fat sounds much better than green stuff and I will readily admit I have eaten butter with a spoon on more that one occassion LOL.
Until tomorrow!!

Glad to hear you're enjoyment of the outdoors -- congrats on posting some sales!

Here I am trying to walk the line. So, off on a walk I go...it helps to put some distance with the refrigerator.

Good evening All,

I've been doing (my version) of what I thought Atkins was for the past year, it did not work. I kept losing and gaining the same ten pounds. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I think I finally found what will work for me - just the last 2 days - because of a few good suggestions. Very Happy

I need to keep my fat at 80% or higher but in order to do this my protein has to be lower. I can keep my net carbs low. Today I went over a little in protein because I had fish twice today. And I'm trying to figure how to up my fat with out going over my RDI.

Thank you Sunkeeper for helping me get the right %. Hope everyone is doing well.

Almost, enjoy your family reunion, I hope there's some protein for you Smile

ogliz, I'm walking today too, so sunny here today-going to make the most of it as rain is on the cards.

Rdrunr, true fat has to be high, some at every meal, 60-80%, low fat will not work, you will get hungry on low fat Smile Sunkeeper is a very good mentor, lot's of good practical advice, and she has proven it does work Smile

Well finished the day off well, spot on with % and cals were 100% I don't usually have the whole amount of 1500, but ah well I did enjoy them. I felt a bit hungry this arvo- I had plenty of fat so I don't know why- Protein was a bit low maybe it was that.

Sorry, I'm in and out, so busy, but I'm about to crack up. I've been out of ketosis for over 2 days with absolutely no reason. Weight flux up a bit, down a bit, could be salt. Haven't been about to enter food BUT I DO KNOW WHAT I ATE and I've not ever been over 20nc. I'm so about to freak out. If I'm showing no ketosis in the a.m. I'm going to buy a new bottle and if I'm STILL out on Tuesday a.m. you guys will have to bail me out of a mental healthy funk. I can't even begin to figure out weight issues without Atkins, which has been by WOE since the '80's... Start thinking guys, I'm so crazy I can't.

Linda - avocado, yuck!

Glad to hear someone's heard from Sunkeeper. I know she's done all this and knows it even better than I do, but I'd sure like to hear her weigh in on this issue!

Carby, don't rely on the sticks too much, if you are really hydrated it wont show up on the sticks. If you are doing 20nc you ARE in ketosis- for most people anything under 50 nc keeps them there.

opps. Had an unintentional slip up today. I really thought it was low carb but when I checked it was not. I have to say since I had the marinara sauce with broccoli and cauliflower instead of noodles it could have been a lot worse. But next time I will grill a chicken breast and avoid the marinara all together. Shoot. I was doing pretty well. I guess I am back to square one. At this rate I will never get out of phase one.

Linda,
I've been using those stix religiously for years. I'm fairly sure I've been decently hydrated for the past 3 months... if anything this week I've had less water.... just so hot that I can't drink ( I know, sounds odd)
Just completely unsure of what exactly is going on. I know for an absolute fact that I have not exceeded 20 nc... most probably not even hit 15, but I haven't been recording. Not a big thing for me cause I eat the same things over and over (I'm not easily bored!)
Thank you for your kind words. I'm just going to watch the scale and try to determine what on earth could be going on. I have missed my 4 miles at least 6 times in the last 3 weeks. A few days I didn't get ANY in, but I don't think that's it either. I'm way to close to get off balance at this point. Just 2 pounds from switching to OWL. It's becoming impossible to find enough time to post food, it seems to take so long to get it logged in, but you can look back at my calendar for the past 3 months and it's pretty much the same. Honestly, I just panicked. Never once, in the past 6 months have I had a negative keto........... grrrrrr. I just checked again tonight, something I never do and I might have willed a TINGE, but it could still be negative.. dunno, just confused for sure.

Beat, try to read all labels carefully, I once drank a big glass of diet indian tonic water, and was telling my daughter (who is a dietitian) how good it was because it was zero carbs, she picked up the bottle and read the label, I almost fell off the seat when she said it was not diet! I buy 6 bottles at a time off the shelf, 5 were diet and 1 was not... I was so disappointed that I'd had something bad and not realised. I now check every label before I drink it.

Carb, there's a couple of things worth mentioning-
1, Are you at the end of a bottle, and/or has the lid been replaced tightly?
2, Try doing readings at different times throughout the day.

You HAVE to be in ketosis at 20nc, no doubt about it Smile Keep up the good work, you might be amazed with a sudden drop of weight soon xxx

So pissed at myself. I was doing very good on my 1st week of Induction. Felt great, plus losing weight. Friday night DH and I had 2 mixed drinks. Scale showed not weight gain the next morning however I was very tired all day and over ate all day. Didn't eat anything off plan but ate too much. Sunday morning the scale showed a 4 lb gain. Thought it was because I didn't drink my water but yesterday I drank tons of water and still no weight loss. Guess, I kicked myself out of keto. Looking back those 2 drinks were NOT WORTH IT!!

Well Linda,
I thought about the Ketostix issue. It has to be the stix. It can't POSSIBLY be me Smile Showed negative again today, which I know is innacurate. I did test yesterday afternoon, same result and I don't think the bottle is any older than any other I've used. I test once a day without fail. I refuse to use that bottle again. I'll get a new bottle tonight and try with a new bottle tomorrow. I'm also logging everything today, even though I know it's a negligible difference from any other day of the week. Okay, but enough about me.

Hey soccer, alcohol makes us retain fluid, it won't kick you out of ketosis, but the body will use it first for energy delaying weight loss for a couple of days... if you used diet soda you should be okay, but sugary soda or juice etc would take you out and make you crave foods. Drink lots of water, stay 20 nc with plenty of fat for the next few days and you will be okay Smile

Carby, It has to be the sticks, at 20nc you are cool! I hope the new ones do it for you LOL

Beat, how are you doing?

Lots of lurkers out there guys Smile and as Carby said time to weigh in, jump in and say hi, we will say hi right back!

Tenkilos - Luckily, I used sprite zero so no added sugar. I purchased some ketostix today and I am still in ketosis. Smile I have been drinking lots of water. Hopefully, these lbs will come off quickly. Definitely, learned from that mistake.

Good news soccer Smile the extra 4lbs will be water weight and it will just flush away soon Smile
I find on low carb I get a terrible headache if I drink alcohol, probably because I'm not good at remembering to drink enough water and I was probably slightly dehydrated at the time. Most of us enjoy a tipple every now and then, a good tip is to stick to white spirits with diet soda and drink a big glass of water between drinks.
I have not had a 'drink' for almost 3 weeks- it's 'Dry July' here in Australia, so I thought I would give it a go, good for my liver, and losing weight quicker!
My youngest daughter is getting married in October so I want to get back to goal for that occasion. It is achievable, 13 weeks to go and 7kilos to lose - that's around 15lbs, I think I can lose that in the time I have.

k guys,
I'm a teetotaler, so I can't help with the alcoholic beverage issues... I do cook with wine and spirits, but all the alcohol cooks out, so no help from me.
GUESS WHAT? You know I'm like.... a pit bull puppy... just can't let things go! I was backtracking through my papers trying to figure out how on earth I could have gotten off track and I discovered a remarkable little tool from McD's. For those of you who actually read what I type, I did have a Ceasar Salad with grilled chicken, no tomatoes, no croutons, no salad dressing. I was amazed when I realized you can use the McD's website to CUSTOMIZE your food orders!! I've been spending all this time trying to "guesstimate" what carb count that salad has and VOILA', I opened the site, removed the grape tomatoes, didn't add the salad dressing or croutons and got an ACCURATE carb count! Fantabulous! You can customize ANY food or meal! I just thought I would share that! (*PS I have NOT been off track*)

Hi all, a heads up for those with Kindles: I was perusing the free books on the Amazon site and there are about 8 books, some low carb, some on coconut oil, some gluten free. Just go to the kindle books section. Type free in the top search bar then down the right you have to find food (or health, can't remember). I am dead chuffed. Will be looking at them today.

Use About.com and look up low carb fast food eating. The only thing I've ever eaten at McD's is the Grilled Chicken Ceasar Salad, but it works for any item they have, you can pick "Egg McMuffin" and eliminate the bun and get the net carbs for the "innards" or you can remove each item individually. Ha! It was fun to play with.
RINDALOO - THANKS!! I'm all about free! And free low carb? Well, that's double good. Great heads-up!
