Thumpin' Thursday All...
Just keep those feet a-tappin' and Friday afternoon will be here before you know it!!

TONI -
You wrote the recommended USDA daily water was 91 oz for women and 125 for men... That sounds like a lot of water!! Not that I don't like water, I do. I even like it in large quantities, just my body doesn't seem to.... well.. part of my body. The part that actually forces me to take action!. I've had to cut my water consumption to 64oz so I can finish two current challenges, but I'm wondering if some is medically wrong with me. At 80oz daily (Give or take an ounce) I was not getting more than three hours sleep at a time. Not good for my mental health, to be sure. Sleep deprived is NOT pretty on me! Going to the toilet endlessly was about to drive me crazy (not that I had far to go!). For those of you who already thought I was already a bubble off, just on 64oz from 6am yesterday to 6am today I logged 17 trips to MY bathroom. That doesn't count all the other stops I had to make through out the day, but it was mostly a home day... but still. Sometimes I don't make 20 minutes. Sunkeeper doesn't seem to have any problem with that and neither do you.. so I'm wondering.... I'll ask the Dr next time I go. In the meantime I'm going to try to creep the number back up. Maybe I just did it too fast.

MYRNA
I'm ALWAYS watching..lol
AND, I don't know what a fat fast is. I just thought your ticker was stuck again!

PDX
Congrats on your successful ER visit. Always happy when it's over!
Ketosis side effects I never had to deal with thankfully and I'm glad they have abated for you... .now.. on with the weight loss!
Fix that ticker. Log into FatSecret.ca for a week, then do a weigh in on FatSecret.com. works every time. Smile

JENN
I knew that water would fall off. Just aggravating when it doesn't just BEFORE a weigh-in instead of after lol I'm glad you love your "spoonable" food too Smile I'm thinking I'm going to eat one more serving of the chili tomorrow and freeze the other two.
Gosh, it was good!

PETE
I'm with you on the counting down of school days. I am REALLY tired of school this year. Too much work and way to stressful. I don't remember any of my older kids dealing with this kind of overload in the 3rd and 7th grade. My two in college don't seem to be stressing as much. I got as much of a workout as the kids.......somewhere in the back of my mind I just heard my mother's voice say "you know honey, we just don't know what they want with this "new" math". Lord, I'm turning into my mother!
Vacation for us doesn't come until August. It's kind of tricky as I start work slowly in March, go through May, work fully beginning on June 1st, take a 2 week break in August, the go full tilt again until November. It's really good because I normally finish just before Thanksgiving and don't go back until Easterish. Can't complain as we manage to throw in a few really good vacations at Thanksgiving, Christmas Break and Spring Break (spring break for us is always early). I hope you have a wonderful, restful, vacation.

DOROTHY
I'm sure you're enjoying those twins being home for the summer!

My 4 miles are getting impossible. The heat is frightful and I'm wondering if it's not worse to force this poor ol' body that's so out of shape into the point of exhaustion. It has to be the heat, because it wasn't bad before. I'm thinking I'll just start walking in my pool.... but how much pool walking equals 4 miles in one hour? Okay, maybe I'll just keep doing the 4 miles and then jumping in the pool! I hate to give up that walk, no matter how hard it is, but I seriously don't want to keel over in the road either. Suggestions welcome.

Have a beautiful, stress-free day everyone!

I love asparagus, too bad SD is so far away. My friend from there swears everyone is pasty white because ya'll never get enough sunlight..ROFL... but I'm sure she's teasing me as she knows just how geographically challenged I am! Laughing

Busy as a cat burying poop on concrete. Hope you all have a restful low carb weekend. Just wanted to get in a quick brag on myself. Weekly BP is still 125/81 heart rate 77....the kicker is that even though I'm doing it at 3pm I still managed to log a one pound loss for the week. I was impressed! Yesterday was another of those "can't stop eating" days. I don't know what the heck is up with that. I guess I'm going to have to add the SF Jello back. Today's undoing was a hundred pounds of bacon. OK, not hundreds, but plenty. But the bacon has 0 carbs so I LOADED up. Which sent my RDI into the gazillions of percents... okay, not gazillions, but definitely over 150%... sheesh. Oh well, my carb count was still under, but for the first time my exercise didn't cover my calorie intake. Still, all in all, not bad for what it was.
Okay, time for someone to take the "weekend duty" and keep this carb group moving!

Checking in from the wine country. We hit four wineries yesterday but only tasted at too. Except for wine, I ate totally on plan. This morning we had breakfast at a Black Bear Diner. I heard we finally got one somewhere in the Bay Area but I associate them with trips to Shasta in bygone days. So yay, tri-tip scramble for breakfast. And only two eggs. So many restaurants think you need three. Off to more wineries.

Good Afternoon my friends....

Gina: A fat fast is alot of fat, low protien and of course low carb to jump start a stall....I tend to hit them alot after the first 40 came off....and since I only have about 40 to go.....it's going to go slow...I'll weigh in on monday...keep your eyes crossed for me....lol Smile

Everyone is doing so well, I am proud of each and everyone of you!

I went shopping in Walmart the other day and found this cute dress....just one little snag....it's going to look fabulous on me when I lose the other 40 pounds! BUT, I bought it anyway as an incentive! Razz

Had my son take pictures of me this morning and the boys were so funny....Twin 2 says....MOM, your butt used to be THIS BIG...as his arms were about 3 feet wide...(little snot) and then he says, but now it's this big, as his arms are even freakin wider(bigger snot)!!! LMAO....lord he's only 7...I know what he meant! Gotta love kids!!!

Everyone have a fabulous weekend!

Good Afternoon All,

Rowan - have a taste for me, realized the sulfa affected me so haven't had wine for awhile. Sad

Dialup - great on the challenge! Way to go. Very Happy

Myrna - your stories always bring a smile to my face - thanks. Laughing

Tiffany - I like asparagus also. Today I did the steam in bag, never had the time nor patience for a garden.

A friend of mine and her husband started Atkins. He's lost 35 pounds in 2 months and she is down 3 or 4 pants sizes already. I asked her what they were eating. It was the same that I've been but I keep playing with the same 12 pounds. They even cheat on weekends. Shock

I decided that I just eat too too much. Rolling Eyes Cutting back on everything and still keeping it low carb. Something has to work for me, just can't figure out what.

For those who are losing, keep up the great work. For those at a stand still, don't give up, never give up! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Good Saturday Morning To All....

I am a little concerned for our little group....it is W A Y too quiet in here....but I think I know why....the weather is getting nicer and it means more outside time!

For me, no outside time...10 minutes you can dip me in ketchup and call me a French fry!

Fat Fast is doing well....I will weigh in Monday and see if the ticker is still working.....I had a realization the other day....I bent over to pick something up and I realized I wasn't grunting and uncomfortable....my belly fat is going down!

My husband says he is very proud of me, and finally glad that I found something that works. I recommend this plan to everyone....you just got to work hard and stick with it!

Have a great day my low carb friends!!! Smile

Rdrunr557: I feel your pain on struggling with the same pounds...I took a look at your journal, I think you are doing pretty good....but something I noticed for myself is sodium....I would try and lower the sodium AND get in extra water....I also use the coconut oil in my coffee to get my fat up....no taste and it works...good luck!

Hmmmm.... Saturday.
Since I posted yesterday we have four new members!!! Welcome everyone.

Myrna Louise - Boys. With a camera. Focused on Mom. I'm not sure you want to encourage that, rofl.
I eat a lot of fat already. Maybe I'll just fish around in your diet calendar and see how it works. My mama told me to NEVER cross my eyes cause they'll get stuck that way! Crossing my toes instead... gonna make for a miserable 4 miles lol
<PS I see you've posted WHILE I was typing this. SUNSCREEN and a hat works wonders! Get outside, it sets a wonderful example for your kids!>

LEARNING2LOSE
Hey, get your ticker up so we can see how you are doing!

JENN
I wanted to do the crunch thing, but I keep doing something wrong because it really, really messed with my sciatica. The Dr says he feels like I should be able to do them, so I'm going to have to get someone to monitor what I'm doing and correct my errors. Why is that harder than it sounds??? LOL. I can't get anybody to watch!

DOROTHY -
Happy Weekend to you. Here's a little activity for you (see me dancing?)

ROWAN -
I hope you know we are all wishing you a marvelous time! I don't drink, but I can be just slightly envious of a trip to the wine country this time of year. I know it's beautiful. I've only ever been to CA a handful of times in my life, but they were all blessed with the most magnificient weather and scenery.

TENKILOS
Nice to see your fluttery fairy wings!

RDRUNR
I was thinking about your post and decided since I had a few minutes I would venture off into your diet calendar. You have had an extremely challenging time in your life with the passing of your mother, so I know it's difficult to concentrate. I've been there.
You said your friends did Atkins. Well, they are either lying (gasp) or just have supermetabolism that would fly through any diet plan. You simply cannot "cheat" on Atkins and get anywhere unless their "cheat" is under 5 net grams of carbs. To me, Atkins is one of the least forgiving while you are in induction. Anytime you throw your body out of ketosis it takes days to get it back, generally speaking. That being said, the more overweight you are the faster you will lose, regardless of the diet as long as you are following the diet. All that aside, I went through, in detail, quite a few of your calendar days. IMHO your carb count is just too high. Your calorie count is over your RDI, but personally, I never bothered with that (because that will naturally taper off the longer you live low carb). On my "hungry" days I just make sure what I am eating is zero carb to offset the calorie intake.
I think if you were to drop that carb count consistently under 15 for a week or so you would see a major difference. I went back and examined my own calendar for yesterday. ALL I did was eat, and even went out to dinner (A VERY rare treat in this household). I thought sure I was gonna be over my self imposed limit of 10 carbs and WAY over my RDI for calories, but I wasn't on either. I did notice that my own fat content was lower than I wanted so I have you to thank for making me examine my own more closely! I've never known low carb to fail for anyone, although everyone responds differently. Take a look at my weight history. Looks like a yo-you and I've never once deviated from the plan.
I'm asking you to re-double your efforts for a week, drop that net carb count and keep us up to date. Remember to drink plenty of water.

Speaking of water. You guys would have gotten a giggle outta this. Last night at dinner I ordered water, of course. The waiter asked "lemon"?
I said no. He brings this dinky little water glass (6oz I'm guessing). He didn't even get all the drinks on the table before that was gone. After he had to refill it 4 more times he gave up and brought a drink sized glass. I just smiled Smile
Oh, at that reminds me, for those of you who eat out a lot, I think I just discovered a super low carb meal (not that someone else hasn't already).
Chili's Lighter Side Grilled Salmon. I didn't bother to adjust the meal last night, I just didn't eat the rice. I ate the salmon and broccoli and left the rice sitting on the plate, BUT when I got home and checked the carb counts I realized that there wasn't much rice on the plate to begin with, BUT, I could have subbed it with a second helping of broccoli and the entire meal would have been under 10 carbs. (broccoli with garlic butter, yummmmmy, per serving 9g -4g fibre =5net, 2 servings =10net grams carb) NEXT time I'll know that. Oh, by the way, ALL their salads are loaded with carbs. However, they have the most comprehensive nutritional analysis page by a restaurant that I've ever seen, feel free to look for yourself. http://www.chilis.com/EN/LocationSpecificPDF/MenuPDF/001.005.0000/Chilis%20Nutrition%20Menu%20Generic.pdf?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Oh, can anyone tell me IF and HOW to enter a historical weight? I evidently didn't get my weigh-in yesterday to register.

Anyone seen Sunkeeper? I'm missing her lovely, inspiring blue!

Okay, that should be plenty for anyone who is bored and just needs something to read! 400 MEMBERS strong. Here's a challenge to the group. EVERYONE post. Just say "checkin in" if you get nervous speaking in crowds Smile
If we get at least 40 post in a day I'll hold my tongue, er pen, er keyboard to a limit of 50 characters. Ready, set, GO!

Hello all and welcome to the new members!
I'm sorry that I haven't been around as much over the last couple of days. It's been super busy around here and things are nuts.

Myrna - I'm so sorry that I don't greet you more often. I read daily, I just forget.

I miss Sunkeeper too. Hopefully she'll get un-busy and come back around again.

Linda! So good to see you posting. It's so weird, I never think about the differences in seasons between the U.S. and Australia but this week, a client asked when I'd be releasing a specific set of new fragrances and I replied with, "Fall / Early Winter". She laughed and said, "Oh so my Spring / Summer".

Tiffany, I love asparagus and keep meaning to plant a stand of it but never do when I think about it. I really need to remedy that.

Rowan - It sounds like you're having a good time. I'd drink the wine too. It's a weakness of mine.

Dorothy - As always it's good to see you around. Smile

I'm off. The kiddo has a term paper due. The end of the school year crunch is in full swing with finals and papers and banquets. Crazy busy.
I'll be so glad after Tuesday because I'll be able to breathe again.

xoxoxo
- Toni

So very sorry that I've been missing again this week. I've been busy busy busy again this week. Although I had the week off from work, I spent Wednesday and Thursday at the Zoo with Kindergarden kids and spent Monday, Tues and Friday submitting resumes and going to interviews. Next week is filled with interviews during the first part of the week and work Thurs-Friday. I have many options on the table and I'm pretty sure that I will have multiple offers to choose from. So, it looks like the next month or so will be very busy but well worth it. As for Atkins, I'm still managing to stay on plan and losing weight. Dang TOM threw me off last week but after that the weight has started falling off again and I am ever so happy about that!

I hope everyone is having an EXCELLENT LOW CARB DAY!!!
~Rachel~

Afternoon everyone, Im taking a break while hubby naps and trying to get all my food for the day recorded.

Mryna- i cook like a lobster in about 10 minutes without sunsreen. Gotta love that Scotch/Irish, French/English family heritage lol
