I’m back to square one with the lifestyle change frustration. As determined as I am to stay low-carb, the rest of my family is equally determined to eat nothing low carb. So, I’m back to fixing two breakfasts, lunches, and dinners and being taunted by the overabundance of cookies, brownies, cakes, chips, etc…just junk food…along with all of the potatoes, rice, pasta type stuff. So far I’ve managed to remember to avoid everything but it’s so hard to sit down while everyone else is eating cookies/brownies and ice cream and not do the afternoon sweet treat. I am sure that I can do this as long as I am mindful of what I am putting in my mouth….just another one of life’s challenges.

Dorothy—Look at you go girl! Congrats on breaking through that barrier!

CarbTracker—I think I have to agree with you about those elders being on to something. They didn’t have the “technology” these days that we have that allows us to be lazy. They were forced to keep moving throughout life to get anything done. Unfortunately, as a society now, we have very little time to actually spend on moving from point A to B. Instead, it’s spent sitting at point A or B. Dang FatSecret for eating your posts and being so contrary with you!

Sunkeeper—It is great to be back…and of course, to have been missed. Seems like FS is having more and more difficulty lately and it’s so frustrating!

Myrna—Can I just hire you to come to my house? So much cleaning to be done and just don’t feel like doing it. And cooking---oh I’m so beyond frustrated with the cooking right now. Apparently, I’m the only one in my house still determined to go low carb. So once again everything I fix is disapproved and everything they fix I disapprove of.

Tiffany—So glad to hear that your niece is doing well and getting ready for the next surgery. I’m praying for you guys to have a bit easier road in the future. I couldn’t imagine having all those health challenges with a little one.

Brenda—Enjoy your company and your jogging tomorrow!

Rachel.. Hang in there girlie!! You might have to remove yourself from the area for a while when the family is eating their treats.. Just until you get your willpower back up!! I do understand how hard it is.. but hold on girlie!!! PLEASE!!!

And Yes ladies - it feels great to be back in the saddle, on the wagon, on the horse, whichever.. I am happy to be back! Breaking that barrier was significant....I am just hoping that I can continue to go on the downward ( you know the scale likes to play mind games! lol lol ) But, I will see on Monday.. loss of ounces are even great because they lead to pounds!!

Sunday check in, another beautiful day out there which I plan to enjoy to the fullest.

Rachel, why are you depriving yourself? I'd be in there like a dirty shirt eating coconut candy, cheesecake cupcakes, heck any cheesecake, tiramisu, salt caramel brownie, cauliflower brownie, chocolate truffles or my fav, fat fast parfait. I'd show them how to eat better while still enjoying all the sweet treats life has to offer. The mind games would be happening but in reverse, I wouldn't let them have a bite of anything at all. Tell them to bring it on! Does the one stirrup on your saddle need adjusting some? Now that we have you back in it we want you to be comfie sitting there. If you need any recipes for the good stuff holler and we'll have them there for you in a heart beat, you should NOT ever feel like your missing anything at all. If your longing for things and feeling like others have it better than you how long with this WOE last before your back to putting all that crap in you again? NO! It's just a matter of finding better stuff that not only satisfies your sweet tooth when needed but also helps you to maintain this life style. If your family is unwilling to help you then up them one, fight fire with fire, get even, go after the brass bell!

Yesterday after running into the city for a bit I spent the rest of the day working outside. Got a bit of red on me which is unusual, that sun is hot, wow. No spring, go straight from winter to summer it seems, what a treat. Will be back out today with the wheel barrow, shovel doing jump the shovel again plus all the normal summer activities. Took the dogs for a nice long walk after dinner then we had a camp fire before everyone fell in to bed last night. I haven't had much time to even think about eating, it's just not a priority on my list right now with so much else to be done.

I hope where ever you are the weather is co-operating too and you get lots of calorie burning happening just from living. Don't forget, today is the first day of the rest of your life, make sure it counts right up there with making it the best it can be. Have a great day!

Good Morning All...

I have decided the ticker is stuck forever...but my weight loss isn't...tho I have stall wall again...exercise is up, so maybe it's muscle...hope so...

Cooking went well yesterday, except the zuccini chips....They did not turn out so well...way too moist....anyone have any secrets? I'm thinking when I shred the zuccini maybe I should put it in the dehydrator for an hour to take some of the moisture out.

Hubby loved the Cauliflower Cilantro Lime "Rice"... And of course my enchilada's are the best! I did have a couple of bites. I made the banana bread with splenda and it came out prett good, except hubby said he couldn't taste any next time I'll throw in a little banana extract, it had 4 banana's in it!

I spent most of the day in the kitchen and didn't get much cleaning I guess I'll do that today!

Rachel: I would come help you in a heartbeat...better yet, I'll send the kids...give em a duster and watch em go!!! Listen to Sunkeeper...don't deprive yourself...just hit them lowcarb!Wink

Myrna - when I make zucchini chips, I pile all of the shredded zucchini in a kitchen towel and squeeze all of the moisture out. Or as much of it as I can.
Then I make them in the usual way and after that, I put them in the dehydrator for a few hours.
It works perfectly.

Rachel - I agree with everyone else that's weighed in here, don't let yourself feel deprived, definitely find low carb options that 'feel' like cheats and that you can have. It helps so much.

Dorothy - You are doing so well!

We are on day two of cold, gross and drizzly weather. I am SO ready for better weather.
I made Cheddar Jalapeno Chicken pot pies for dinner last night and they were awesome. I'm going to tweak the recipe a bit and then I'll post it in the recipes section.
I have to say that sometimes it feels unreal that I could possibly be loosing weight eating the delicious food that I get to eat.

So, the family just left and I did a nice 40 min jog with a friend (haven't run in prob 3 years), so am feeling pretty good right now.

I got to explain to everyone why I am doing Atkins... That's always a joy to explain to a group of people that have little to no weight issues why you are trying something that goes against the mainstream of what people believe is healthy.

Rachel, I am totally feeling your pain! And Sunkeeper, I am making some goodies TO-DAY! Thank you for the inspiration and empowering advice Smile

So, the scale is up, but I am feeling strong and sliming down on the body fat, so am not gonna let the scale get to me too much this week.

It just took me 30 minutes to get on this page...almost gave up! Just calculated my BMI,,,I started at 36 OBESITY and now I am 29 OVERWEIGHT!!! Yeehaw!

Hi guys, Myrna wow yeehaw back to you! PDX well done on the run... I have not run in years.. will try today walk-run-walk see how I go! Toni good tip on the zucchini, I do that, squeeze out the moisture, add chopped shallots, grated cheese and egg, then shallow fry spoonfuls in olive oil till crispy-yum

Happy Sunday Evening! Too bad the weekend ran away entirely too fast again. We are facing yet another Monday morning entirely too soon. However, I did find something totally awesome this weekend. I was trying to figure out how I could manage to get all of the recipes into one location and easily sorted without having to print them all out etc. So now I have this love relationship with Microsoft OneNote. It’s so very easy to copy and paste everything into OneNote and organize it! I am so happy that I have everything in one place that I can easily access.

Dorothy—I do my best to remove myself from the situation whenever possible. Some days I feel like everyone and everything is out to get me and then I realize it’s not really them I’m mad at. I’m mad at myself for being ill prepared for the situation. I have two days off this week during the week where the boy will be in daycare. I’ll be doing more cleaning out of the junk food and putting together recipes that I can have in the refrigerator/freezer ready to cure the sweet tooth.

Sunkeeper—Thank you for the pep talk! Sometimes I need a swift kick in the butt. I took the time today to organize recipes where I can easily access them. I’ve already whipped up a batch of Jello Whipped Cream (Heavy whipping cream whipped with a box of SF Jello powder added and chilled) and that’s what I had when everyone else was having their brownies and ice cream etc this afternoon.

Myrna—Sounds like your kids are good helpers!! WAY TO GO!!! You have and continue to do wonderful things with your health! You’ll be in the perfect range before you know it!

Toni—Thanks for the reminder and encouragement to not let others affect how I eat. I’m the one that has to live with it and I need to make sure that I’m enjoying it without the added extra pounds.

Brenda—Taking that extra 10 minutes today to make something “sweet” completely changed my feelings. I haven’t felt deprived or felt like I just had to have something sweet because I know it is sitting in the fridge whenever I want it.

Dialup—Good to see you! Happy Sunday!

Me, I don't even want to journal. How can you gain a pound a day on a sub 1200 calorie/30 net carbs diet? I have no idea, but that is my last couple of days. I saw a picture of a beach on facebook with the caption in the sky "we are part of the ocean" and on the water "we are part of the sky"... and on the beach "but all of me wants to be at the beach". Some days I want to run away and have a totally different life but this is the one I have (and it is actually a really good one). But today was a beach day when I saw the scale.

Happy Monday morning, starting another week off on the right foot with my blue still shining, gotta love a Monday when things work out.

Still beautiful weather, still working away but ignoring Wally which of coarse he's not fond of at all. Guess he'll have to get use to not so much use unless it rains or gets to hot.

Hope your Mon is starting off perfect and the rest of the week is similar. Eat right, move and shake and don't forget to drink that water till you slosh!

Had a decent weekend - played golf with some buddies - one of whom is getting married. Was challenging to stay away from the beer and goodies for lunch. But they understood, and I maintained my plan.

What a glorious weather weekend we had here!
I was happily posting away, and POOF, all gone again. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it's the FS way of teaching "dealing with stress" LOL

As always I tried to outguess my scales this morning by my levels yesterday of intake and outgo... so I was guessing a smooth 173.8 and what did I get? 175.8 ROFL.'s a tricky little devil! It can say what it will, I can SEE the difference. Hang in there.

I know I'm gonna sound like your mother, but to bad... Just because THEY have something do you really think YOU have to have something? Okay, I get it. All the low carb sweet options, but nowhere in your post did you say "I was Hungry". What you said was "they were getting something I wasn't". Girl. That's life. Someone is ALWAYS going to have something, get something, be something, do something, that you don't. I agree, if you can't sit there without feeling deprived, then by all means get yourself something. You simply cannot "remove" yourself from the "situation". The situation is your FAMILY. The people who love you more than anything in this life. Just because they don't understand is no reason to kick them to the curb. You just have to learn to stand up and do what's right for you in the midst of a sea of food chaos.

I couldn't log in yesterday or post to a single challenge... oh well. They just don't know what they're missing, do they?? We'll have the last laugh!
BTW your delish enchiladas... have you ever tried to do any sour cream/cream cheese/cheddar/chicken in a low carb flour tortilla? They aren't induction friendly but they are definitely low carb and seem like they would fair well with the cauliflower cilantro/lime rice....
Congrats on the OVERWEIGHT...

JUMPED right into running! How wonderful. I actually walked my four miles in 59:58 yesterday. A personal best for me.. but I still canNOT run, jog, trot.. LOL But I'm doing the best I can. I'm adding in a 15 minute pilates a day via someone here's suggestion.
I'm VERY VERY proud of your running. What an accomplishment. Keep it up!

I was NEVER a runner.. lol.. but I'm walking. Anxious to hear how the walk/run/walk goes. I tried it a few weeks back and my knees still haven't recovered.

Look at you, all nice and blue! We too are still having the most wonderful weather. I walked this morning it was a breezy 48.... I'm not believing it. I'm 58 years old and don't ever recall temps below 70 in May...not questioning it, just enjoying it!!
I'm trying to figure out how to convert my 4 miles walking into swimming for the summer. It's either that, or invest in a treadmill. Before the month is out it will be at least 90 with a humidity level that will make it feel like 100. I'm afraid I simply won;t be able to walk, but I don't want to fall behind on my exercise, I'm sure I'll think of something, but I would welcome any thoughts and suggestions from you guys.

OMG guys, guess what? I was eating my brunch, typing this, and went to get water. When I opened my fridge I looked square at an unopened brick of cream cheese. I grinned to myself and thinking of one of my kids said (yes, aloud) too bad they can't think of something to hold you up.
One of my kids and myself say we only eat bagels so that we have something "to hold up the cream cheese"..... I shut the door, turned around, stopped dead in my tracks and realized a MIM would do the trick. So, somewhere between Myrna and Dorothy, I flew into the kitchen, whipped up a MIM in a 5in souffle dish, sliced it like a bagel, dropped it in the toaster, whacked off 2oz (yes, I measured) of cream cheese, slapped it on that MIMBagel and was in H-E-A-V-E-N. ROFL.. I couldn't even finish it, tossed the rest in the trash and told myself I'd have to remember that breakfast option! Right now I'm trying to decide how to get blueberries or blueberry flavor in that MIM without carbs.

Okay, now that I feel like Midas, it's time to get crackin'. We worked outdoors all weekend and I need to get back out there in this gorgeous day.

Carb, my next weigh is 3 days away. Unofficially sneaked a peak at the scale day before yesterday and the new number was 180!
Hope the scale isnt lying to me lol. I think im gonna stick with phase 1 for another 10 lbs and then give phase 2 a chance. Actually made it up to 10 full sit-ups this week! Hope thats enough of a number fix for now. The official update in 3 days. Luvya grl!

Carbtracker....Netrition has a blueberry sugar free syrup that might work on your MIM...what is a MIM anyway...I have seen it mentioned before...and I feel all bright and sunny too! I had my co-worker take some pics, but I think I still look too heavy to post them! vain can I get??? Razz
