Cool I think it's my tickers fault....if it would move, then maybe my weight would too! Just sayin!

Haha, Carb Tracker. I'm 59 and I have seen snow a couple of times. Around here one "goes to the snow" by heading up into the mountains. I have never had a desire to do that myself. I grew up in the Panama Canal Zone. I miss the true tropics. If the DH would stand for it, I'd push for retiring to Costa Rica. I make the mistake of following Nadine "Happier than a Billionaire" on facebook and see her daily snapshots of living on the beach in Costa Rica. Makes even California's snow-free but too darn chilly for this tropical gal seem freezing.

I walked by the mirror today after getting dressed and I thought for a second there was some stranger in my closet. I didn't recognize myself for a split second. I look thinner than I did yesterday. Weird, but true. When my mom saw me this morning she said "you look so thin!" That to me is a success!

fluffydiva Give that stranger a hug girl!!!

Thanks to all of you for the comments. Yes this is my first road (my only baby). Okay we survived. Did dinner last night and decided that we would not go to the airport this morning...did not want to make her emotional and she and I knew we would not get through it. She is not traveling alone; has a young man enlisting as well so they are traveling together. They are currently in the air from Seattle, WA to Chicago and when they arrive they have to check in and eat quick (flight was delayed) and then wait for bus (not sure when it will get them). I will get my last phone call for several weeks tonight. It will be about a 15 second call that says I am here, my box will come in a few days, and I will call in a few weeks. She texted me last night until 11:30; told me that she was crying and missed me and will miss me and wouldn't be able to see me everyday. I cried until I had to go change shirts cause it was soaking wet....yes I am a big baby. She and I spent 2/3 of her lifetime just the two of us. I am glad that she will be busy. I created my Challenge to help keep me busy too.

So it is funny because I found this military link to help you work up to doing (as my daughter calls them) Manly push ups (proper form no knees). When we started it she could not do one push up this way....heck neither could I. She told me yesterday that she could do Manly push ups! She said that she did 4 in her room and could have done more (haha). She said she felt much better knowing that she could already do some in a couple of short weeks. She has to do 14 in 2 minutes. According to my age I have to do 7 in 2 minutes. I actually did them today!!! My form is not perfect and I am sure I need to go a little lower BUT I did them. So it does work!

Anyway, I will keep busy working with her and will hopefully keep the tears to a minimum of 3 times a day (I am sure I will have some tonight when she calls for 15 seconds but at least she will not hear them).

Okay will try to get back in here more than once a day now that things may start to settle down.

Thanks again to all of you!

Cheers to everyone on this fine Wed morning, hump day, half way to the weekend!

Myrna, I bet you've hit on something, dang ticker won't move so why would the scales, it's only trying to keep up is my guess.

Fluffydiva, do you like the looks of this other person in the closet? If you do then take a picture, quick!

Jaime, you've now come out the other side all in one piece, whew, good for you. Get busy with that challenge and show DD how you've improved while she's been gone, blow her socks off her. We're all real proud of you for how you've handled it all, they do grow up and head out to make a life for themselves. If you did your job (which I have no doubt about) she'll do just fine with no worries at all.

Gina, yard work is a spring/summer/fall thing here and that's about all I could handle. By fall I'm sick of cutting grass and weeding and all the rest of it, the beginning of winter is always fun and so pretty, it's only when it drags into Apr that it gets real boring.

Toni, hope you get unbusy soon, we miss you.

Katred, please do tell why low carb didn't work for you, I'm amazed, never have I heard that before. Welcome to the group, hope to see lots more of you round here. I am doing low carb so don't eat wheat or corn at all, it's certainly worked for me.

Water appears to be gone or at least leaving, I think it was most likely just the effects of all of last week. Working out hard on Wed and dancing like an idiot on Fri. poor muscles said wow, we better stock up here, she's gone mad! Now that things have settled back into a dull roar and I'm more on schedule we appear to be moving in the proper direction, feels good. I've done a side by side shot of the wedding in Calgary in Oct, Mexico in Dec. and the one on Fri. Bit of a difference I'd say, anybody else see it?

WOW Sunkeeper!
Unless they're blind, everyone will see the difference! BUT, they are all good pictures. You have to be so proud of yourself.
I didn't think to take special "before" photos, but I've got some that would definitely be adequate...one in particular I'm thinking about that should have driven me to begin BEFORE the blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar. By the way my bp on Monday 179/119, Tuesday 157/89, if it's still up today I'm off to the Dr. tomorrow.
This morning at 7 it's a balmy 73 degrees with the humidity at 94% and the mosquito index about 35ppm. BUT!! The wind IS blowing (12mph) and everything is covered in a nice yellow film of pollen. Ahhhh Spring.

JAIME: I never sent one of my daughters off to the service (we only have daughters (6). I remember my oldest one going off to college (3 hours away). We moved her into her dorm and I had the closest thing to a panic attack you could have! I couldn't leave her (I vaguely remember that same feeling at the kindergarten door!) We had the kids with us so we got a hotel room and stayed 3 days. Finally my daughter said to me "Mom, if you're going to stay you might as well register for some classes." Needless to say, my genius daughter managed quite nicely. That was BEFORE cell phones, if anyone can remember that far back, and my long distance bill rivaled any data plan rate today! I am sure that pales in comparasion to sending one off to the military, but she has to be a strong girl, just look at her mother!!

MYRNA: I cannot comprehend the loss of a child. I said a special prayer this morning.
Don't worry about that ticker, it's evidently just jealous!

ROWANFAIR: I can't even "GO" to the mountains. lol. Well, I guess I could fly to some. We are actually only 3 feet above sea level and everything is relatively flat. Anytime someone around here gets a load of dirt all the kids think it's a mountain! We have been to the Rockies, but only in the summer. Our kids "sled" by riding cardboard boxes down the sides of overpasses!

For everyone else, here's hoping you have a great Wednesday!

Myrna I cannot even imagine that loss and I will definitely make them all count. Actually last night I told myself at bed time "get a grip, you will see her again". Hugs to you, my friend. That ticker needs a swift kick for sure!

RaRa I am working at it hard and definitely want to blow her mind when I see her in 8 weeks!

SunkeeperAmazing pictures!!! That stranger resembles you!! So awesome Smile I think I keep asking myself...did I teach her enough? I don't think I taught her to iron..she will need to do that. We even went over sewing again over the weekend...she needed to mend somethng and I showed her how AGAIN. She is a smart girl, and at least I know where she is and what she isn't doing..lol. I will miss her but I am so proud of her. I just need to get used to this.

GinaI have actually told myself that at least I know where she is and what she is doing and that I know she is not out at a party or hanging out instead of studyig. I really thing the hardest thing for me is no contact for several weeks. It sounds like your BP is headed down but definitely you need to get that checked out if it doesn't get back down fast. How is your sodium intake? I would love some of that weather right now. I miss the South when I am waiting on spring to hurry up and get here. My mama said that the pollen is so thick she hates to open her windows right now.

So I got my "I'm here call" last night. It was 7:45pm pst which made it 9:45pm her time. So that is better than what a lot of moms got. I talked to her quick at the airport while she was shoving dinner in so she could get to the front for the bus. She said that there were a lot of Seaman Recruits (SR) is what they are until they pass. Her spirits sounded good and she did get a nap on the plan. I am sure this morning came early for her.

I jogged 1.5 miles yesterday....I am sure that was a first for me. I almost got my curl ups in...my legs are sore (more from those I think) and I did get my push ups in....need to work on that form. Arms are feeling it today.

I hope you all have a great day!

Wow, Jaime, your challenge sounds, erm, challenging. Glad your daughter got there safely.

Sunkeeper - great pix! And yes there is a marked difference.

Carb Tracker - I'm actually going up to Tahoe Memorial Day week, I think it is a 3-1/2 or 4 hour drive. Not exactly next door. Smile But the snow had better be gone by then! I've never been to Lake Tahoe but a dear friend has had a condo in Incline for years. Now that she is retired and I'm unemployed she is finally dragging me up there.

Fluffydiva - laughed at the stranger in the mirror. Go you!

Happy Wednesday all.

Good Morning!

Sunkeeper---wow!!! Those are some big changes. Congrats to you. You should be proud of yourself and I know that this group is too.

Myrna---I couldn't even imagine the loss of a child. Huge hug to you for being able to get up and continue with life.

Jaime--- From what I hear, this is the hardest part. I remember leaving home and my parents being so distraught about it and me thinking it was no big deal then I got so incredibly homesick that they ended up driving 6 hours round trip every other weekend to get me and it was all I could to to wait those 2 weeks for the next trip. Things do get a bit easier for both with a little time. I bet you'll be doing all kinds of work out stuff that you couldn't do before she left by the next time you see her.

As for me, oh oh oh bad me!!! I'm trying so hard to get back on track but miserably failing while we have company. Everyone will be gone tomorrow and I'm sure hoping that I'll be able to get a grip on myself and get back on track. I have a friend from work that has started going to the gym with me after work and going to the tanning bed. So hopefully with that extra push things WILL get better!

JAIME: OH my GOSH!! I forgot about the sodium! I mean completely forgot... how could I forget? I know I've had way way too much. WAY too much. I just looked back at what I've been eating and I didn't bother to pay attention. Every single one of the seasonings I use are salt based. I had steak (heavily salted) 2 days in a row. What was I thinking? I'm going to try to eliminate most of my sodium for today, check my BP again at 3 this afternoon. BUT, I've already decided to be at the doctor tomorrow morning at 9. Those numbers are a little too scary for me. Even if it comes on down today the Dr. needs to know what it's doing.
I can't thank you enough. Losing weight, exercising, it had come all the way down to 125/70 and stayed there for over a month. I could not figure it out. This is just one more thing I need to watch. Even if it doesn't turn out to be the sodium, a week without it will certainly be a good test!

It's a low carbing Thurs for you and for me! Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life, will it be a healthy one where we all make good choices? Will you move and shake or have to give yourself a break?

Myrna, so happy you finally told those scales where it's at, bout time they figured out who's boss here. Congrats on your half way point, your really doing well when you consider the time frame. Successful people do what unsuccessful people don't dare, it's plain to see where you fit in.

Big thank you everyone for your kind words. I didn't start with a before picture either, wish I had. In the first one I'd already lost 10 lbs so you can imagine what the real before was like. It's not so much the difference in appearance it's how I feel and boy no shot could ever show that. It's nice to get up off a chair and not have to get past the belly first to accomplish it! It's nice to pull on a pair of pants and not have to suck everything in to do them up. It's nice to be able to "get" out of bed in the morning and not have to roll out. The difference that I feel is far more than what the changes show I can tell you, your kindness though is greatly appreciated. Now the challenge is to stay here and never ever go back to those days. The demons are still sitting on my shoulder, I need to keep them at bay or knock them right off would be even better.

It's really hard to beat a person who never gives up!

Sunkeeper: you truly do make me feel better about things....I love your outlook! And the way you look....marvelous!

I bought myself some pants yesterday....I looked thru my closet, but didn't have any the next size. Only 1 pair as I don't plan in being in them long!

Everything is going to plan....now if the ticker worked correctly! One step at a time!
Have a great low carb day and wonderful low carb thoughts!

just checking in, no downward movement of the scale this week, but more inches off so I'm happy. Got into my size 16 jeans yesterday, another 5 lbs and I should be able to breathe in them lol. Hope everyone is having a fabulous Thursday.

That's fabulous news Jen, way to go. Sometimes the scales don't move while your body is adjusting, nothing to worry about.

Glad you got some new pants Myrna, those baggy ones just don't do justice to the new you.

I'm having one of those hungry days, man I don't like them. Will have to be very creative today with choices to fill me up.

Rain, freezing rain, snow and pretty much anything the weather man can throw at us today is happening. Will spring ever get here? Yes it will and I'll be outside all day long working away burning calories galore with no time to eat! Come on spring time....
