Hello everyone. This really has me going.
Sunkeeper and Linda - I have a call into an attorney. My mother is in such pain and she cannot even stand up because she needs both arms to walk with her walker, so this has made her bedridden, except for a hoier lift that I have to use.
I tried to get back on track today, did ok at work but over did it when I got home. I guess stress gets the better of me.
Myrna I think pre logging my food might be a good idea for me too. Then hopefully I'll only eat what I record.
Night all.

Just found this group. I am back to low carbing and love the little tidbits you share about recipes and your meals. Such great support to have. Hope I can contribute as I get more comfortable in eating this way again. It's day 3 and doing good so far.

I just had a really big uh huh moment after some of my very good friends turned on the lights for me! You are what you eat and your success depends on the effort you put forth.

I'm having or showing success, like many others here, because I have put the effort forth, I've taken the time to read, to learn, to understand the program plus how and why it works. I've listened to the suggestions from members when I was in a serious stall, they worked almost instantly and without those people I'd still most likely be the duck sitting with no water to splash in, once again, thank each and everyone of you for the help you provided me in my quest to becoming healthier, for me, cause that's the only person in this big wide world I really need to please and be accountable to.

The members of this group are like no others. They know about what they speak, they've lived it, they've tried it, they've found the ups and the downs, they've been exactly where you are. If your smart and serious about making this a new way of life you'll listen.

Hi Mom, glad you could join us. Lots of really good information and recipes that make this new way of life so much fun to be living. Please take advantage of all of it.

Rdrun, I kept thinking about you all day yesterday. Hang in there, if you need a hand just reach out, we'll all be there to grab on.

Fluffy, if I didn't record what I eat and drink I'd have no where to go when I hit a stall to see what worked in the past. How do you know where your going if you don't know where you've been? Just my opinion and one of the options on FS that works, again, my opinion.

Jaime, I know your having a rough go right now but take just a second and look at one of your posts along with all your mini goals then pat yourself on the back. You done good girl! There is no doubt in my mind you'll continue to succeed once the stress clears a bit because your a winner in this battle of losing. We'll all be here to see the new you blossom as you embark on yet another new path of life.

Julie, glad that the manuscript is done and put to bed, what's next? I'll bet your niece had fun with auntie, glad you got to spend some really good quality time with her.

Myrna, those boys always look like cute little angels in the pics you've posted but I'm sure we'll hear some more great stories soon. I just hope your writing some of this down to look back on.

Sure hope everyone that's not feeling well improves really quick. It just sucks to be sick.

Hoping everyone has a great low carb Fri and weekend ahead.

Food for thought, those who are successful put a lot of effort forth, they work hard to be a success. Those who aren't make excuses and think they are fooling others but really they are only fooling themselves.

While most are dreaming of success, winners wake-up and work hard to achieve it. There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.

Good Morning...There is a little progress in the scale department...down...I hope it keeps doing that so when I weigh in on monday I actually post my weight....LMAO!!

Question: Since we are adding so much fat to our diets, do you think it would be feasible to take an Alli to sluff off some of the exess fat? It's just a thought???

Kids are 7....they woke up this morning and started screaming at each other...OMG....I can't take much more of that! I've thought about getting a water bottle and squirting them everytime they start!!!

I must go pretend I work here....Have a great low carb day my friends!

I'm down 1.2 this week and into the next "decade". I love when that happens. I'm happy with the loss since I did a LOT of drinking last Saturday at the Kenny Chesney concert. I stayed low carb with the food though, so it was a successful day!

Thanks for your opinions yesterday about logging the food. I did it yesterday and will do it again today. I hope I can get back into the swing of it.

Myrna, I thought about the Alli too, but quickly decided that's a no go. We eat a large amount of fat, so can you imagine what might happen if you are out in public. YIKES!

Sunkeeper, you are right about success and effort. Most things in life require effort, and the really important things require monumental effort!

Good Morning Everyone -

RdRunner - I am so very sorry for what has happened to your mom, and to you by extension. Not being able to get up and move around at all will just lead to a cascade of increasing problems for her - I hope her docs will be aggressive with pain control and physical therapy to help her get the use of that arm/shoulder back. I just ache for you - to see your loved one suffer is the most helpless feeling.I will be praying for you.

Jaime - when I joined this group the conversation was already in full swing, obviously, and I didn't understand that your daughter is .. what .. about to deploy somewhere? Oh my goodness, I can understand your crying jags and sad feelings. In the middle of the sadness, do you also have a feeling of pride in the young woman you have helped her to become? You probably do, and rightly so. I'm so impressed by all the physical activity you report doing with her - it must encourage her so much to have you participate - push ups!! Wow --- well, when I ever get under 200#'s I will start doing that kind of work, at least that is my intention. I just want to pat you on the back or give you a hug for being so supportive of your daughter when it also seems to be breaking your heart.

BeautifulYno - Wow - you accomplished so much when you worked on weight loss before - you have what it takes and connecting to this group really does help with motivation doesn't it?

I can't thank everyone enough for the advice and encouragement you've given me in the last few days. I've taken it to heart - really worked on increasing my water (thank you SunKeeper) and up my foundation vegetables - I heard that "chorus" from like 5 of you all at once. It's funny - I read that in the new Atkins - that you need to get most of the net carbs from green leafy vegetables - but I guess in the back of my mind I was saying "nah, not necessary." Why did I do that? I think that is the hardest dietary change for me - not the leaving out the starches - but adding in the greens. So - even though I have been really sick this week and the doc put me on antibiotics and said to stay away from work until Monday (sick patients don't need a sick chaplain to come and breathe on them!!!!) - still, I started doing what you all said. Upped the water, and had a big green salad at noon yesterday. And I am happy to report that I am down several pounds -yesterday I was down a pound, and today even more.

In fact I have to laugh - remember a few days ago when Myrna wrote how mad she was that the stupid scale was "LYING TO MY FACE!" - well, its silly, but it seems like I was just able to do the reverse to my scale - I was up at 6:00 this morning, emptied my bladder first thing, stepped out of my pj's to step on the scale, was happy that I was down 1# from yesterday, took my morning meds, and then went back to bed since after two and a half sleepless nights, I finally got to sleep around 2:30AM this morning. THEN when I got up again at 8:15, I had a tiny bit more in my bladder to empty, and just to be sure that the happy 1# down from earlier this morning had stayed with me, I got on the scale again. It was down 1 MORE # for a total of 2 from yesterday. HAH! I got on and off about 10 times, debated whether to record the loss, and decided to go ahead and record it, and to hang on to this memory against all the days when the scale doesn't reflect all my efforts. There's something about this that tickles my funny bone this morning.

But for anyone else is who trying to restart Atkins and not happy with your results - what this group says really holds the Key - its the water, and the "foundation" vegetables as Atkins calls them. I also discovered how to go into my settings and move the RDI to what I think it should be. FS set mine for me at 2000, so I just changed mine down to 1400. As I lose weight I may need to lower it again.

But I've noticed how much exercising Sunkeeper and Jaime do - and I'm begining to get my mind around the fact that ultimately, to be healthy and to not only reach goal but stay there, I'll have to build muscle and increase energy expenditures.

I hope you all have a great day, and that you make the choices that will take you where you want to go.
Blessings -
Robin

Thanks so much rchap, I'm sure we're going to have many laughs and a good time together before her special day.

Give yourself a pat on the back too girl! Way to go, that's fabulous news. Get another salad into you today and drink that water, I told you it won't be long before your where you need to be in order to be healthy. Isn't it simply amazing when you follow the rules? I'm so happy for you and so darn proud too, keep up the great effort.

Myrna, you don't fart do you? Horrors! Sure glad Julie asked, I was afraid too.....

Robin...don't listen to me when I am in a bad mood! LOL...I don't go there often, but when I do, it's a doozy! I may get a little grumpy, but I will never get grumpy enough to quit!!! On the water subject, I have a 24 oz glass....I have myself on a schedule...1 full glass of water every 2 hours. 7,9,11,1,3,5,7,and 9 = 192 oz....I slip a little, so have given myself some extra oz incase I miss a beat!

Hello all!
A few things to cover here so forgive me if this turns into a novella. Smile

First, I personally log everything that I eat. Always. Even on the rare occasion that I over eat or go semi-off-plan.
I'm an obsessive planner too, so I usually even pre-plan the next day's menu. I have found that not doing that is detrimental to changing up my WOE. And even though it was initially a P.I.T.A. it's been well worth it in the long run. I also weigh and measure every single thing, before eating it. And here's why: we live in a society / world that has lost sight of what a portion size is and it's easy to think that the amount of salad dressing / food of any kind, that you have on your plate is 2 tablespoons or 4 ounces when in reality you've probably got more like 4 tablespoons and 8 ounces. Trust me when I say that weighing / measuring is an invaluable tool in the entire weight loss / getting healthy journey.
Yes, it is a little more effort. But, in my opinion, the effort is well worth the long term benefits.

Sunkeeper - You are SO right! I am a big believer that your level of success is equal to the amount of effort that you put forth. I apply that to every aspect of my life. Not just dieting.
I say it so often to my daughter that she's started saying it before I even open my mouth.

Rchap - Weight loss is a journey and the road is long and not necessarily a straight path. We all stumble. We all fall and we all lose focus at different points. I am so glad that the group was able to help get you back on track. That, in my opinion, is the BEST thing about this group. Oh and feel better!

RdRunner - I am so sorry about the situation with your mother. If there's anything that I can do to help - even if it's just an ear to listen, please don't hesitate to ask.

Myrna - Thanks to your posts about whoopie pie tins, I broke down and ordered one. And a donut pan too. I made the oopsie donuts and really liked them. I did them without glaze and they must have been good because I got one. ONE! Before the fiancee and daughter devoured them.

Jaime - ~HUGS~ If you need anything, please just ask.

I am finally on the mend after being sick for a week. It's funny, I spent all week absolutely ravenous and I couldn't figure out why. Usually when I'm sick, I have a hard time eating anything at all. This week, I was craving bad carb things, like bread. (Ugh.) I didn't give in and I did stay under 20 net carbs most days but I did eat a ton of those stupid Atkins bars that my fiancee keeps around and I did go way, way over my RDI on a couple of days.
Yesterday it finally clicked that something was wrong, so I called my nutritionist who researched the meds that my Doctor had prescribed for me and called back to tell me that the cough syrup that I had been prescribed was literally loaded with high fructose corn syrup. HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP! I didn't even know that that was a 'thing'! I didn't even think about it.
I finished my last dose last night and I'm back on track today. It'll probably be a rough couple of days before the cravings stop but I'll survive this too.

Okay, I'm off!
xoxo

Hey everyone....checking in....I haven't been that active this week. It has been a stressful week with a lot of different things going on both personal and work related. I actually had some anxiety attack mid-week (first time in about 15 years) but feeling much better today. My weight has not changed....so I am not going to complain. With being under the weather and stressing and no gain (and TOM on my heels) I will take that as a win.

Okay I will try to catch up but may not post to all and if I miss you then it is not intentional. I hope you all have had a great week and have an even better weekend!

Hi everyone!

Really headachey the last couple of days. Starting to get cramps in my legs nightly, I did this before when on Atkins, and started to take Potassium supplements. All the posts in this group are motivating for me, I love looking at what people are eating and all the tips. Thanks agian for such a wonderful group.

Jamie - thanks for the reply, I will try to pick up some coconut oil this weekend.

I hope eveyone has a great weekend.

Onelovejenn: It will pass...give it time...so many adjustments for your body!

Toni: I am so glad you are talking about portion sizes...I too weigh everything...I even bought a pocket scale to drag around with me! I also use a smaller plate...less room to fill up! Here is the link to pocket scale...less than $7.00...can't beat that!

Toni Very true on weighing!!! I have my scale that lets me set it back to zero with my bowl. So I can actually make my salad and reset each time I add. I can change it from grams to ounces. There are many times that I use a tablesppon and it will reference the grams and I will weigh it instead of try to measure the tablespoon. It is AMAZING how much something weighs versus how you think it looks. I weigh everything and I cannot imagine not doing so. I count things out...nuts, etc....even count out my Husbands crackers....hahaha. Thank you so much for checking in on me too. I appreciate knowing that you are there if I need something; that really means a lot. You mentioned that cough syrup and it makes me think I need to go look at mine!! I have had some cravings too and moreso than just because TOM. Nasty carb demons are always lurking in every corner!!!!

Sunkeeper Yes our success is equal to the amount of effort we put forth. You know it is like when we don't see the scale move. When we know that we are doing what we are supposed to be doing then the pay-off will show up eventually. It is kind of like on the Biggest Loser....the guy that threw up a lot....he didn't quit. How many of us would've stopped when we threw up? Heck....there are times when I am running that I feel like I am going to throw up....hahaha...I just keep going.....if I throw up then it will not be the end of the world....hahaha

Myrna I do the water schedule too! I have a 16 oz glass and try to drink 1 glass every hour...lol. You in a grumpy mood?? You are wonderful Myrna and I always love reading your posts!

SunkeeperI hope you have a great weekend!!

rchap Thank you for the kind words and support. Yes, my daughter is actually leaving April 8th for boot camp and then she will go to A School for Hospital Corpsman. She has been working in healthcare and I am thrilled that they guaranteed her (and she qualified on her scores) to continue that. For a long time it was just the two of us together and although now my Husband is with us (for 3-1/2 years now) we still have had our 'time' together. I am so proud of the path she is taking and I know she is capable of wonderful things, but I do feel like a part of my heart is breaking. Nothing tells us how to let our babies go when they reach that amazing point in their lives that they are going to spread their wings and fly. She has turned into such a beautiful young woman and I know I will survive this. I am very grateful for the support that I have received from my friends here. I hope you feel better soon and CONGRATS on the weight loss!!

fluffydivaCongrats on the weight loss!! That is great, and a new 'decade' is awesome!

Myrna LOL!! The thought of you squirting your kids with water just set me off laughing!!!

Take care everyone and have a great day and weekend!!

Hello all!
I see several people are still feeling ill, I hope everyone feels better soon! some may be experiencing the Atkins flue, which should pass soon maybe with a little broth (salt).

Welcome Mom - there are a GREAT bunch of people here that are willing to assist any way they can. Right now, I am the needy one, some day, hopefully soon, I will be able to succeed and help others too.

Sunkeeper your words are soo true. I guess I do not give it my all. I walk in the house after work and seem to get swallowed up - no time for me or what I need to do for myself. I plan on trying to change that - maybe I'll go for a walk or something before I go home or actually schedule time to exercise. Also, I appreciate your kind words.

Myrna - I hope your Monday weight in is a huge success - remember any loss is a success.

Rechap112 - Thanks for the prayers. I hope your words are blessed. I'm glad you're feeling better. Great will power against uncertain odds.

Jaime - Stress can really trigger things - mine is overeating. Glad things are under control for you. You're right, I consider not gaining a win.

I did not have such good luck, when I got on the scale, I gained 2 pounds but thankfully it's not a weigh in day. Hopefully, I can reverse the situation before I have to weigh in.

I did notice that I do much better when my fat is high - I still haven't got it in my head. I don't seem to get it right unless I am following what I think is the fat fast. Maybe my fat fast is what Atkins really is - in that case I couldn't even imagine what the fat fast should be??? Crazy, huh?

I thank everyone for being there when things have me so depressed.
I'll check back in soon I hope.

Rdrun, please take a look at my diet journal, I "try" for 80% fat, 10% carbs and 10% protein most days. The candy is what gets you there, without that I'd be a goner for sure. Avocado, macadamia or pecans also help to really get it up there but I eat a big leafy salad almost every day for lunch then some more veggies at night. My evening meal is your usual run of the mill dinner. The big plus to keeping the fat up is it fills you up and you don't get hungry so if eating candy for breakfast is what you have to do then go for it!

Myrna, get off facebook! Close it down, don't look again. People are just cruel, dam them.....

Jaime, I was cleaning this morning and I always think when I do that, dumb I know but what can I say. I was thinking about you and the stress with DD leaving home and wondering how in the world the mothers and the wives did it back in the 2 great wars. They didn't have facebook or skype or instant messages. I can't even imagine what that was like for them. How many of the wives were pregnant with perhaps their first child? How many mothers had to send more than 1 off? My gosh, it's horrifying to just think about it. I know this doesn't help you at all but reflection of what you have to be grateful for might just pull you out of one of the anxiety attacks or stop one before it starts. I feel for ya girl, a big bad man is coming and taking my baby away too. It's never easy to let them go but you have to trust you've done everything in your power to send them on their way to adulthood, as much as it really sucks!

Toni, feel better. The meds are gone, your on your way to feeling you again without those cravings. Sure good to know all this for the future.

Have a great low carb weekend everyone. If Angie should appear the leash for her is over in the corner, grab it somebody please and hook her on!

Hey, all!!

Myrna- Yes, I spoke to Dianna last week...through email and text. We didn't talk about the wedding, so I can't really answer that, but I'll find out and get back with you. I'll let her know you were asking about her.Smile

I hope everyone is having a great Friday!
