Good morning! Today another 100gr. down..It's tiny tiny weight loss, but it's still a loss isn't it?
Ra Ra when sb is in ketosis there are headaches? For how long? I saw some people here who are under 20 gr of carbs for months..How can they suffer with the headaches?
For me it's just the third day..yesterday it wasn't very strict I had a little more than 30 gr. but I don't want to start over..
Have a wonderful day!

Good morning all you low carbers, hoping everyone has a low carb day and week for that matter, those things are just not good for ya.

RaRa, if you up your protein for a couple days as well as salt it lessens the Atkins flu symptoms some. Takes your body a bit to catch up with your brain on eating this way, darn it. Good job on just pushing through it all, you win in the long run and can be proud you did.

There sure are a bunch that are sick, hope you all feel better quickly but in the mean time you won't mind if I sit over on the other side of the room, far far away from you all. I don't have time to be sick right now, way to much to do and way to much going on.

Sia, you really might want to try to get the carb count down some, especially if it's only your 3rd day. It'll be a long hard fight if you have problems this early on. You'll find being here we give it like it is, the good, the bad and the ugly, we won't sugar coat it for you in any way, sorry. Hope you've read the getting started thread to help you understand how it all works. It's quite important to start out on the right foot, makes a day far more wonderful! Write what you bite and ink what you drink. It becomes like a game, what else can I have today that keeps the numbers working towards a better me.

So how was the babysitting Julie, burn off a bunch of calories? Did you get any work done?

Rchap, lots of good suggestions, hope they help get you going and on track. Like I told you, all you have to do is ask and some very experienced people will be happy to give you a hand.

Leikoa, I'd really appreciate the fan pointing north and you sharing some of the heat. First day of spring here we had snow all day long, streamers off the lakes making it hard to see across the road at times. Not spring like at all, and the stupid ground hog said an early spring, it's not even spring when it is spring!

Happy Birthday Dorothy, sounds like you rang in this new year with a bang.

Rdrunner, that's just horrible about your Mom, know any good lawyers? Somebody certainly has some explaining to do I'd say. No wonder your stress level is over the moon, just try to take some deep breaths to get you through the rough spots. Of coarse I'd be so hoppin mad that wouldn't work at all, sure hope things get better and quick.

I spent yesterday getting a few things ready to take away with me over the weekend. Heading north for a girls weekend to celebrate my daughter getting married in a couple of weeks. If I'm prepared it should go just fine, right? Hot tub, wine spritzer, heavy on the soda water of coarse and plain ordinary water should keep me out of trouble. Before anybody says watch the sodium in the soda water, I make my own and there isn't any salt at all so I'm good there. Angie put a recipe for Garlic Parmesan Flax Seed Crackers in the recipe, I highly recommend them, made 2 batches after trying the first. Should be great with cheese or dips and next to no carbs what so ever plus lots of fibre, man I need that fibre.

Where there is a will, there is a way. Hoping to get a great hike in while away which I'll need, poor Wally will be here all alone, he's not going to like not being used. If only DH would get on him, now that would really make my day!

Here's hoping you all have a great one, eat right, exercise some and track your progress. To be a winner you need to first be a loser, here's to losing at a sensible rate all the way to a better you!

Hey, anyone have any Angie sightings? Where is that girl? If she happens to wander by could you slip a leash on her?

Sunkeeper - A lease or a leash? hehe J-play. I think ol' Angie snuck off for a long weekend with the guy she is going to the wedding with later this spring? She'll pop up sometime soon (and hopefully have some interesting stories).

Sunkeeper, thanks for the advice. However, I don't follow the Atkins plan, I just want to keep my carbs income under 30. The only reason I don't follow Atkins plan is that I'm not at all good at rules. Every time I try to limit myself into a plan I fail (It's been happening for years and I know that for sure). What can I say, I have a rebel soul...lol
That's why this time I only have two goals, to stay under 30gr of carbs and under 1100 cals per day.
Every time I succeed in it and have a small loss too I feel fine.
...and I agree with you, it's not worth sugar coating it for me..
But that's the only plan I can follow..if it works or not, we'll see...

Good morning everyone! I have not recorded anything in my food journal for weeks. Do any of you choose not to do that? I really hate doing it and it makes me feel more obsessed with food.

Sia, how often are you weighing in? If you are recording small increments the ticker may not show it.

Sia - The weight ticker is a source of endless frustration for most of us. So much so, that a lot of us have just removed it rather than deal with it.
I usually notice issues with it right before FS rolls out changes to the site. (Like the notifications thing that just happened.)

Sunkeeper "Write what you bite and ink what you drink." LOL That is awesome. I admit I usually leave off the second part myself.

Sia, if you getting headaches, drinking salty broth might help. Even though you aren't going for 20g, the "Atkins flu" is a phenomenon that many folks experience during the first week of carb cutting.

I'm still holding steady. Eating too much protein and not enough fat mostly. Not really going to worry about it until next week though as I'm eating out this weekend on the coast and plan to eat fried artichoke hearts and maybe other off-plan treats. Thirty years ago come Saturday, after driving from Florida to California, I drove through the Pacheco Pass and morning rush hour to climb into bed with my promised husband to start our life together. Our wedding anniversary isn't until Sept (being young and poor it took awhile and we didn't have a honeymoon until a year later). I always take him out in the spring and he takes me out in the fall so we have always celebrated both equinoctal anniversaries. This year we may actually have a 30th anniversary party with friends come Sept. Thinking about it anyway.

Sia, if it works for you that's great, you go for it. I don't find Atkins regimented, actually it's much easier than so many other types of weight loss solutions, only what works for me too I guess.

Darri, rofl, ok, a leash might be better for Angie and (how I don't know) I'd forgotten she's on an extended date, thanks for the reminder but we still should tie her down maybe. I can't wait to her the stories, bet they'll be good ones too. Lets just hope she comes back and doesn't do something silly like run off and get married herself now that she's all sleek and good looking eye candy for this dude!

Ah Myrna, that's so drive you nuts crazy, why do our bodies do that anyway? Have faith, that scale will move downward again in no time. Should I have a chat with the boys to have them run around more whereby you'd chase them and burn a bunch of calories off?

Rowan, a romantic after 30 years! That's about he cutest thing I've heard in a long time. Have a really wonderful time on your "date", don't you come back pregnant!

Good morning all.
I over slept this morning, my phone battery died in the night. I was up just after midnight because I've had insomnia for for a few days, took a benadryl and went back to bed about 3am. Never heard the beeps it does when the battery is low.

Sia - I have never had the headaches, or any kind of Atkins flu, I have done low carb for years. It must depend on the person. My net carbs are under 30 most days.

fluffy diva- I do that. Recording takes a big chunk out of my day, but I was losing weight when I was keeping track. I start again when I need to see whats going on, I started a new diet plan this month and I need to see. Even then I didn't keep track for the first week or so, but because I wanted to see averages I averaged my cals and carbs and entered that for those days. Looks weird but I think it's pretty close.

Have a great day everyone.

Hey All checking in....been a bit of a rough week for me. I have not felt that great and not quite sure why. Yesterday was terrible and I had to lie down until almost 10am. Today I feel much better than yesterday. I think a lot of it has to do with stress and anxiety as the ship date for my daughter approaches. I think I have a crying spell almost daily now (although it is when I am working and alone). My exercise has not been what it should be and that is somewhat due to feeling badly and trying to get last minute things done with DD. One day she had a Group On to use and wanted me to go with her to lunch so that day was used up. Today I will try to at least get 5 minute increments in on some weights...that is better than nothing.

I hope that everyone has a great day!

Oh...fluffy diva...I record my food almost daily. I have found (through trial and error) that when I do not record my food it is easy for me to 'trick' myself into thinking that I am taking in less carbs/calories/sodium...etc. than I really am. However, when I record then it is staring me in the face and forces me to take ownership. Everytime I have ever stopped recording it becomes my downfall. Honestly, I cannot imagine that I will ever stop recording.

Hi everyone! I'm loving how active this group is, and can't wait to get to know you all.
Did well today, day 5. I've done Atkins before, and recognize my headaches as normal. I am, however, having trouble hitting my calories every day. I did well today, but yesterday, I was terribly under. I don't know how people go without logging their food, I even "pre-log" just so I have a plan, and don't find myself at mealtime trying to find something carb friendly. If anyone has time, would you take a look at my food intake and see how it looks? Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

With God, all things are possible!

Hey Jenn - some easy ways to get your calories up is working in some butter or coconut oil. There are several of us that use this in our coffee and it is yummy. It also helps get the fat percentages up as well. I take a tsp - tbsp of whipped real butter and add it with a tsp-tbsp of coconut oil and blend it with some coffee and then pour in with the rest of my coffee....also sometimes I will add in a tbsp of heavy whipping cream. It is hard to get the calories up sometimes and like you I like to pre-log when I can...lol. There are a lot of recipes in the recipe section if you haven't had a chance to check those out. There are some good ones...like twice baked cauliflower (tastes like twice baked potatoes) and it uses some cream cheese and whipping cream and butter so good to get the calories up with some added veggies. Glad to see you posting and welcome to the group.

Happy Thursday, everybody!

Just a quick check in because I have sooo much to do...

Sunkeeper- My niece was too cute...thanks for asking. And, no, I didn't get any work done while I was there, but I'll bet your right and did burn up some calories! I JUST finished my manuscript...been working on it since 5:00 this morning. Whew! (The FS exercise tool shows that desk work burns up a lot of calories, so that's a plus!)

Myrna- Keep your head up, girlfriend...you're doing great! Very Happy

Jaime (and everyone who is sick)- I hope you feel better soon!!

As for me, I've really started to get my fat up and I feel better, too. I think I've said it before, but I'm an 80's child and come from the school of thought that fat is bad, so it's hard for me. But, I'm working on changing that mentality. I just can't get over how much less hungry I feel! An avocado for breakfast really does go a long way...

Well, that's my story for today. Now I must get out and get some exercise...it's been a loooong day!

Good evening everyone....I pre-log my food every night...that way I know what I need to take to work for lunch! Tonight we had BLT's....I did not have any bread...I used romaine leaf as my wrap..turkey bacon...delicious....I have to go find something else to put in my face with fat in it...I didn't have enough today. I just made Chocolate Whip...that was good!

I knew that I would get to a certain point and the weight would be harder to come off, but gees....I figured I could have at least gotten over the halfway mark! Okay...pity party over! Thank you Julie...I need the support!Wink

The kids have been pretty good lately...it won't last...stay tuned!

Have a splendid low carb evening!
