Hello everyone! Second post, my diet is a carb cycling thing. I lost 20 pounds net since I've started this, I started it all pre fatsecret at 209. I was down 10 more. I went off last year for a while and gained some back. I restarted my diet recently, on the Carb Nite Solution.
Reading the posts, this is a great group, thanks for starting it.

dialup75 thank you for helping me.I think I managed to find it..
Today ,as far as I don't eat anything else before sleep, I'm ok with cals and net carbs. I'm counting net carbs and not just carbs because I can't live without veggies..Do you think it's wrong? I aim around 20-30 net carbs daily..

Sia- I hope that you won't find it too nosy of me, but I peeked at your food journal. Your RDI (calories) for the day looks great, and you are just about where you should be with your net carbs. Aim for 20 net carbs per day--I think 30 is a little high for NET carbs. Don't worry, you won't have to give up vegetables at 20 net carbs/day...In fact, green leafy vegetables are encouraged on most low-carb plans (especially Atkins).
The goal is move your body from burning glucose (sugar) for energy to burning fat for energy, and this happens when your body is in the metabolic state of ketosis. Little things (like adding brown sugar) can make a big difference. Again, I don't want to step on toes here, I just thought I could help. Smile

I'm not sure what plan you're following, but if you're interested, here's a little more information about the Induction Phase of Atkins: Atkins Phase I.

Here are some ways that you can tell if you're burning fat for energy:Ketosis.

Check out this thread...Angie has done a LOT of research that you might find interesting: The basics.

If you have any questions at all, please post them...someone will always get back to you. Good luck!!

Howdy everyone! Julie: the Oopsie Pizza was a big hit with the boys! They asked for it again tomorrow, but. I told them they have to eat corned beef and cabbage or St. Patrick will die!!! They are only 7...I figure its a good chance they might actually like it if they try it...so, a little white lie came out of my mouth!

I have decided weekends are tough on me...during the week meals are prepared quickly, eaten, baths and then bed....weekends drag on and give me more time to plan meals and think about food....not sure that is a good thing!

Have a great low carb evening....the kids are being their normal selves and fighting with each other. I am so ready for bed!Crying or Very sad

Sia, for phase 1 induction you need 20 net carbs per day, with 12-15 coming from veggies. Yes net carbs is the way to count. Subtract all fiber and sugar alcohols and glycerin to get your net carb number. The latest book on Atkins is called A New Atkins for a New You. I got mine at walmart. Its also on amazon and available for Kindle. The book really helped me to get the details of the plan. Hope this helps.

Posting here as well...

Hi I am new here as well. In the past 14 months I have had a surprise baby via c-section, recovered from that and had huge thyroid issues that made me gain weight, then they removed my thyroid after 3 biopsies and found follicular cancer. I am permanently tired, super stressed and very much in love with my husband and gorgeous baby. What a mix of emotions! LOL

My weight is going up and down depending on what they are doing with my meds, I am losing weight right now as my levels are good, but they will have to increase my meds to keep my remaining thyroid tissue suppressed to keep any more cancer cells from growing, and I am pretty sure that will make me put on weight.

It is kinda frustrating that it is out of my hands...

Happy St. Pat's Day! I was a good Mommy this morning and made Oopsie Donuts...everyone loved them, BUT, said the frosting tasted funny...the only thing I think I would change is to leave out the Splenda from the frosting. I took a pic, will post later. I did not eat any, my will power is strong, but I am not in a testing mood! lol...

To all of the newbies....this group is very helpful....I would not be where I am today without it....Having a bad day? Read the other posts, for you are not alone!

Have a safe and low carb St. Pats!

Squiggs!!!!! So glad to have you back on Fatsecret! Welcome to this group.

Top o' the mornin' to ya, friends. I got up and had a griled cheese sandwich this morning. It has been months. There one local-ish store that sells Julian Bakery stuff and last Friday I splurged on the whole wheat sourdough paleo bread (and some paleo coconut macaroons). Being like 30 miles from my house this is a fairly rare indulgence. The last times I got the almond or coconut (gluten free) breads but found them wanting esp. the coconut.

Hey Rockmela, you can totally do it.

Good morning Everyone! Happy wearin of the green day Smile
A tip for your cabbage to go with your corned beef: Fry it, it's delicious. Throw a few slices of chopped bacon in a 12 inch skillet with a half a sliced onion and when the bacon is crispy and the onion is a little browned dump in a bag of cole slaw, or shred up some cabbage. Fry until the cabbage is done and add salt to taste.
atriel2 thanks for the welcome and I hope you feel better - looked at your Etsy shop - its fantastic!
Sunkeeper thanks for the welcome- I'm celiac- gluten intolerant same difference! at any rate the symptoms are the same.

Hello, everyone!! Happy St. Patrick's Day!Very Happy

Myrna- Can you believe that I totally forgot it was St. Patrick's Day until you mentioned it? I guess that's what happens when you don't have little ones running around the house anymore. I'm glad your boys liked the Oopsie Rolls Pizza...did you happen to post the recipe? If not, I'm sure I can probably figure it out...

Sia- You are most welcome! Anytime you have a question, just ask!

Rockmella- Glad you're back! I hope that you had a restful vacation. Now, get back up on that horse! You can do it!!Very Happy

Sunkeeper- Thanks again for posting all that great info! I'm going shopping today and I think I will pick up some sweet potatoes...You are right, it's probably time to move on to the next phase.

Group- Check out this cool website I found this morning: Low Carb Dieting 101: What they don't tell you....

Have a great day, all!

Julie, all I did was make and bake the Oopsie Rolls, then I topped them with cheese and pepperoni and put them under the broiler for a few minutes to melt the cheese. Don't leave them in too long...just enough to melt the cheese.

Just had my Corned Beef & Cabbage....I cooked it in the crock pot, so I had to smell it all day! Delicious! I might be in the doghouse with my scale! I did get some exercise cleaning house today...I feel it in my knee and a spot in my back.

Hubby and I were just talking and we think we should open a Low Carb restaurant....anyone have any ideas????

Have a great LC evening my friends!
