Just dropping by to say a quick hello. I'm not logging food etc this week but I am staying on plan and will weigh/measure on Sunday as usual. This week and next week I will be very inactive in the group due to work/school schedule...transitioning from career student to an actual career is proving very stressful but also very rewarding. Hoping that by the end of next week things are moving a bit smoother and I'll be able to come talk more often. I am going to try to keep up with the reading though.

If anyone needs anything at all--questions, a place to vent...whatever it may be--just send me a private message and I'll answer as soon as I see it otherwise I may miss something on the boards.
I've still got your back!

Have a happy healthy day!
~Rachel~

MusicGirl - welcome to Onederland!

Huh, never heard of a whoopie pie (cool pan though). Is that from some particular region?

Sunkeeper - yay on meeting goals!

FaithfulJewel - have you ever tried Dreamfields pasta? It is made with regular semolina flour but has been processed in such a way to make the carbs bio-unavailable. I have tested eating it and still being in ketosis so on OWL it is a treat I allow myself. I buy it at Safeway so probably any big market would carry it.

I'm doing pretty well. I will be at the end of week two of induction tomorrow and am waffling about whether to go on OWL or continue on induction. I think I miss my almonds too much to stay on induction though.

Hello all!

It has been a busy, busy couple of days for me, so forgive me if I'm a bit behind.

FaithfulJewel - We don't moderate posts in here. Occasionally, the FatSecret people will, for no reason what so ever, decide that some posts must be moderated. But that's out of our hands and unfortunately, nothing can be done about it. I think most of us have experienced it at one (or more) times.
On another note, are you doing Atkins? If you are, wheat is really not allowed on that plan. Whole Wheat pasta does have more fiber but the carbs are still significantly higher than what's allowed on Atkins. If you haven't already, I would recommend reading the Atkins book, New Atkins For A New You.

Jaime - I hope that you feel better soon.

Sunkeeper and MusicGirl - Congrats on your losses!

Linda - That is such exciting news!

Rachel - I miss you, sweetness, but I understand being overwhelmed with life and I hope that all goes well.

I'm off again for a bit. I hope everyone is well. Smile
- Toni

Rowan: Thanks for that, I'll have a look for it. I'm UK based so it might not be available around me but something similar (with that product to guide me) may be on the cards.

QUICK EDIT: The UK does stock it, but it's a specialist item and nowhere near me. I can order it online, but when they're appearing tomorrow it's not worth it. I will save that for future planning though! +1 karma for you Razz

Atriel: I have done Atkins in the past, but I can't cope too well with the phases thing. I'm doing a sort of "natural carb" thing that's borrowed primarily from Slimming World, without the option of Syns or allowing yourself daily bread/pasta/rice etc. I only really asked about a pasta option as my friends are visiting and I want to make a popular pasta dish I do, but at least want to be able to eat some myself!

My overall logic is, if I have it in a tiny bit once a month (if that), it won't do me much harm and I won't get the withdrawal of "Oh gods I really want a dish of egg fried rice right now" - if I can make it a "healthier" version of that too, that'd certainly help Very Happy

Dreamfields pasta has been tested and shown to have a very similar glucose response to that of regular pasta. The difference is small. The article I read called it a "scam".

Just checking in. Rowanfair, you can add nuts and stay in induction, as long as you have been in induction for at least 2 weeks. I've been on induction for 11 months.

Happy hump day everyone. Wed seems to be my hump day for sure, always pop back up a bit and it's apparent it's from getting out of my usual routine as Tues. I have morning run arounds each week, don't get to drink water in the usual fashion and don't get the normal exercise. Shows how important those features are but life continues around this WOE in ways that can't be altered so we live with it.

RF, I have a few nuts here and there, never go over board and just this weekend added in the tsp of peanut butter to the coconut candy. Sure was nice to have that velvet taste again. Just go easy and ease yourself into adding items. Try one thing and then wait for 3 or 4 days to see the effect it has. Maybe you can keep it or maybe you'll have to wait longer. It's all trial and error, the process can be fun if you let it.

Linda, every bit counts, just keep plodding.

Kandykiddo, glad to have you on board. Lots of very knowledgeable people here to help guide you along. Ask questions you have or add tips you've found, communicate often.

Faithful, why would you want to add regular pasta in? You can use so many other things in it's place far better for you. Spaghetti squash, zucchini noodles or strips, lots of choices out there. There is no reason at all for you to give up or miss out on the dishes you enjoy, just get creative with the recipe, your friends will be healthier for it as well, win win for everyone.

How's the beautification of the office coming Toni, getting more organized and ready for stage 2 of the business?

Rachel, life is whizzing by for you at the moment, good luck in the job search and with finals and wrapping up your education. Be glad when you are back full time amongst us all.

It's beginning round here, the wedding parties will soon be in high swing which of coarse will be challenging. We have something on every weekend now until after the first of April with one of those weekends being a girls weekend away, now that will test me for sure. I know the wine will be flowing and the treats a many. Guess we'll find out just how stubborn I really can be, I still have 7-8 lbs to go before the big day which is only 4 1/2 weeks away. Can I do it?

Good morning everyone...I live on!!!! Haha...seriously thanks to those of you wishing me to get well soon. I actually was able to do a little jogging on the treadmill yesterday and that was good. Anyway I am sticking with it and will see where it goes. I am sure the sugar free cough drops are not helping my diet but I will deal with it. I think I can stay caught up now. Congrats to all on their loses! Welcome to those that are new and to anyone struggling just stay the course!

Good afternoon all!

Rachel116 - You have a lot on your plate! (haha - not literally). Hope things smooth out for you.
Rowanfair - I love your quotes, very true and motivating! Thanks
Faithful - The "tiny bit" does not work for me, the scale goes up and my cravings start. Hope it's better for you.
KandyKiddo - Welcome. 7 weeks and 10 pounds, wow! I may need some pointers from you, mine has been a long haur with a slow loss.

Has anyone noticed that the pie chart (which I go by) doesn't always apprear to be accurate. Like today, my pie chart says 65% fat, 31% protein and 4% carbs. But, my breakdown is 55.56 fat, 59.17 protein and 7.64 carb. Should I go by the pie chart or the actual count at the top? Have a great day everyone!

Any suggestions?

Hello all!
I am having a good day so far. Things here are busy but not hectic and I can not tell you how excited I am for our new refrigerator. The one we currently have is over 20 years old and only 20 cubic feet. We grocery shop every 2 weeks and every 2 weeks, I have to Tetris in the food and hope that everything fits. It usually does, but not without some creative rearranging going on.
The one we're getting is 29 cubic feet, the freezer is huge and it has a ton of room for fresh food storage.
I can tell that I have grown up because I am stupid excited about appliances.

KandyKiddo - Welcome! I look forward to getting to know you.

Sunkeeper - The Office Beautifying project is well under way. My fiancee is getting ready to build me a custom desk. Which will be so incredibly nice. I need more storage but set up differently than the L-Shaped desk that I currently have.

Jaime - I am SO glad that you're feeling better!

In weight loss news, I am riding 170. In 3 ounces, I will be at 169. I'm totally chafing at the bit to get to 169. It's cool, I know I'll get there, it's just a bit frustrating when I'm not seeing instant results. Of course, I didn't put all of this weight on overnight and I know I won't lose it all overnight and slow and steady wins the race. I just wish it would hurry the 'eff up, already! Okay, mini-vent done.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

- Toni

eKatherine - I am skeptical about Dreamfields being a scam because of eating it and still being in ketosis. If it was really 41g carb per cup I don't think I'd be able to maintain ketosis.

Thanks for the support about almonds from several people. Smile I have been on a low carb diet for about three years and I'm still never sure exactly what is causing any given stall or gain.

Hey y'all!!! It has been so long since I stopped in. There were soooo many posts to read and I think I read them all. I'm not going to comment though as there are just too many. But I will say that I am so proud to be among such fantastic peeps. Always encouraging and lifting one another up!

As for me, I may never cease to be amazed at how my body works. Sunday was a B.A.D. day for me with food. I impulsively gave in a church and ate some cheese grits (oh my, how I miss those). Then, I was so upset with myself that I took the, "I already blew it..." mentality that when we went out to lunch I ordered a cup of tomato basil soup, a burger and fries. And dinner....oh, lets not forget the 2 slices of pizza I had.
So, what did I learn? First, the soup was delish! I ate about 4 fries and realized they didn't taste they way I remembered and left them alone. I ate almost half my burger and was full. Oh, I almost forgot, they ordered a blondie for dessert and I had 2 good bites of that as well. And the pizza was jusst ok. I actually ate one slice and then ate the toppings off the other.

So, back to the confusion that is my body. I have spent weeks not losing any weight, just teetering around the same number. Monday, I get on the scale...it's down! How is that possible??? I don't know but I decided to jump on the FF wagon for a few days to counteract my bad day and ward off any potential cravings it could cause. So, I'm on my day 3 of that and think I may go 2 more days just to get down low enough that if I gain a couple back, it will still be a net loss.

I certainly hope life slows down a little so I can stop back in a little more often.

I know a man who swears by the Dreamfields pasta...he's diabetic and he's even lost weight...I say it's worth a shot!

I use Dreamfields pasta for DH he is diabetic and I have even indulged in small portion with no adverse effects. That being said...I prefer using spaghetti squash over it all.
