Hi Faithful and 927 glad to have you along for our journey, you'll have fun doing low carb here as we all do. Lots of really good information and many to help you along should you get stuck on something, no excuses for falling off our wagon!

Rowan, how exciting, now you really have to get working. Everyone watches the mother of the bride walk in as she usually is doing it right before the bride. So happy for you.

Moreplease, I just added a new recipe to the recipe thread for Coconut Oil Candy which is the most delicious way of upping your fat in a hurry, only problem being you can want so many of them you up it to much! They are just melt in your mouth delectable.

April, have a look at my food journal if you like, it's open for both suggestions from others and for helping anyone looking for ideas. We're all in this together so if you can give out your weight you can certainly tell people how you got there.

It's still snowing here which is some what depressing but the really good news is I got the year end done, accountant, take it away! Man I just love when that's finished and out of my hands, he can do the taxes.

Been sitting in front of this box all day, need to go get on the treadmill again for a bit.

There is always a reason to be happy, sometimes you just have to look in the strangest places to find it.

Good Afternoon! Hello Newbies...Hello Oldbies!!!

My day has been busy. Last day of my FFSS (Fat Fast Stall Stopper...LOL)...doing great, I'd tell ya what I weighed this morning...but afraid the weight will scare itself back...so wait till monday!

Sunkeeper: I sold the little rascals this morning for $1.00! They can be so good, and turn around and be so rotten!

I saw a woman who works at the bank this morning and she said I LOOK MARVELOUS! I told her what I was doing and she gave me her e-mail address to send her an invite...so good for the soul!

I didn't visit George last night as I had a 2 hr phone visit with my parents....Had to explain everything to them about my diet...they are proud of me...and then my father blew it and told me I was built just like my Biological Mother...LARD A$$ he calls her....It's a good thing I love the man!

I sure miss my weight ticker....I wish they would get them fixed...just like our weight...It stalls...LMAO!

Have a great low carb evening my friends!

Aaaaaaand this is where I need your expert advice. If I'm honest, I don't understand the calorie deficit method of weight loss, as before I have just done pure Atkins (and ignored the "complicated stuff"Wink so this time, working off my own back, I don't quite get the correlation between, say, minus 2k kcals a day to a loss of 2lbs a week (complete guess)?

The thing about Atkins is that many people find it so satisfying they don't need to think about limiting their intake and still lose weight. Other people find they are still able to overeat and need to stay aware so they don't eat too many calories.

Good morning, everybody!

So, I just came in from a run, and the same thing happened this morning that's been happening for the last couple of days: I run out of "gas" at about mile 4. I know that I am capable of running 5+ miles, but I just don't have the energy lately. Is it due to the lack of carbs in my diet?? Does this happen to anyone else?? Jaime, how are you doing on your treadmill? Do you have enough energy to go the distance? Myrna, how about you and George? Is your energy where you want it to be? Maybe it's just me...but I'm pooped! LOLLaughing Oh, well...

Hi, Faithful, 927, and Banathallah! Welcome to the group! Check in often...you will get a lot of support!

Rowan- A super congratulations to you on your big news! That's wonderful that your daughter is getting married!!Very Happy

Myrna- Your stories about those two boys of yours are hysterical! By the way, how'd you do on the fat fast?? I think I'll peek at your journal and see what you ate... That ok?

Rockmela- I'm sending happy low-carb thoughts and good wishes your way! I know you can find it inside yourself to stay motivated!! (Sunkeeper, any words of wisdom for Rockmela??)
I peeked at your food journal and noticed that you have something called "dymatize" most mornings for breakfast. What is that? Do you mind sharing??

Well, have a safe and happy low-carb day, everyone!!

Hi all, been away for a week and figured I'd check in with you all. Been stalled around 227 for about a week now, just this morning dropped a little. Before the drop this morning I had decided to do another fat fast, after my weigh in I decided to go ahead and do the fast anyway. I'd like to share with you all my favorite fat fast recipe, its coconut chocolate mousse! Here is the recipe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rfkpwrzo2uw I had to make some modifications for it to work as advertised, here they are:

1. For me the solid part comes out much more solid so I mash it up with a fork and slowly add back in some of the coconut water while blending until I get the right mousse texture. If it feels 'heavy & thick' you need to add a little more water and continue to blend. It should feel like cool whip.

2. For me, the solid part was not as big as in the recipe, only about half the can, so I use two cans.

3. I changed the amounts to 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 tablespoon cocoa powder, for me the recipe chocolate flavor was way too strong. I suggest you add the cocoa in 1/2 tables spoon increments while blending and taste as you go.

Out of two cans I can make 4 meals, I also make these on the first morning of my fast and drink the leftover coconut water for my breakfast.

If you have not tried this recipe and you want something for a fat fast, your in for a real treat. This is almost the perfect food for a fat fast, and tastes like a decadent desert and for me is a satisfying meal (at least as far as fasting goes).

Good luck everyone. Enjoy

P.S. I was talking to a total fitness guy the other day, and I mean almost 0% body fat, ripped abs, couldn't be in better shape, and I asked him if he could impart just one secret for losing weight, what would his most important piece of advice be? He said "have patience, losing weight takes a long time no matter who you are or how you are trying to lose weight"

Before the drop this morning I had decided to do another fat fast, after my weigh in I decided to go ahead and do the fast anyway. I'd like to share with you all my favorite fat fast recipe, its coconut chocolate mousse!

Here is the recipe: Search youtube for "Fluffy Chocolate Mousse for P2, P3 or Fat Fast Days", I posted the link before and the post was filtered.

I had to make some modifications for it to work as advertised, here they are:

1. For me the solid part comes out much more solid so I mash it up with a fork and slowly add back in some of the coconut water while blending until I get the right mousse texture. If it feels 'heavy & thick' you need to add a little more water and continue to blend. It should feel like cool whip.

Oh, yeah, one last thing on the mousse recipe. When buying the coconut milk in the store, take the can and rotate it back and forth next to your ear, if you can hear the liquid do not buy that can, it will not solidify overnight.

If you have not tried this recipe and you want something for a fat fast, your in for a real treat. This is almost the perfect food for a fat fast, and tastes like a decadent desert and for me is a satisfying meal (at least as far as fasting goes).

Good luck everyone. Enjoy

Happy Friday everyone! Another .4 pounds down from yesterday, leaving only 1.1 pounds to go to get under that 200 mark. I haven't been following Atkins to a tee, only because I haven't been eating ALL of my food.

It seems that when I have a cup of coffee with cream in it in the morning, then I'm not hungry for hours and hours. I'm sure it's the fat, since fat is so satisfying to your body and takes away your hunger. I'm not complaining, because I'm continuing to lose weight. But, I know that it's not that healthy for your body to not follow the plan completely.

I love hearing all the success posts everyday. It sounds like everyone is doing very well.

Good luck going into the weekend. I know we can all stick to our plans. I'm going to try to do better on mine.

Good morning everyone! Just got done with my morning workout and I really enjoyed it.
Why don't I have an appetite? (I literally did not eat anything yesterday until dinner, and I had to force feed myself.)Well I did have a tablespoon of coconut oil, but I don't consider that eating. I still don't have an appetite today. I guess it is not such a bad thing though, because I am usually snacking all day. I think it must be the lack of carbs.

Good morning everyone!
I meant to check in yesterday and time just got away from me. I've recently struck a deal with a store in Canada to start carrying my perfumes so I spent most of the day working my butt off to fill the HUMONGOUS order that they placed. It's good, very, very good, but busy.

The 15 year old is currently sulking because I took her notebook away after catching her on facebook AGAIN, when she was supposed to be doing homework. She's had two months of warning and me cutting her slack for this kind of thing so I don't feel terribly bad. She's angry but I kind of feel like, if she doesn't hate me at least part of the time, I'm not really doing my job - or living up to being a Wicked Step Mother.

Lots of posts to catch up on here so I'll do my best.

Banathallah - It sounds like you're in ketosis. Congratulations! Your body has made the switch over from burning sugars and carbs to burning fat for energy. You should start seeing weight dropping off pretty well from this point on. I would urge you to try to eat even if you aren't terribly hungry. Or else your weight loss may significantly slow down or stall.

MusicGirl - Congratulations on the loss! It's so exciting to see the numbers coming down on the scale, isn't it?

Niv - So good to see you back and thank you for sharing the recipe! You may want to add that to the recipes section, too for higher visibility. I, for one, am in there all of the time.

Julie - I have noticed an increase in energy rather than a decrease - but I'm not doing the level of exercise that you are.

Myrna - I would LOVE to try those recipes once you've found/ created them.

927 - Welcome to the group!

I am sure that I've missed people but I'll be back later after grocery shopping, to remedy that.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
- Toni
