LZZoSA - Welcome to the group!
Angie posted a great thread with meal and snack ideas here.

Also, there's a recipe thread here. Not all of the recipes are induction friendly but maybe you'll get some good ideas.

Sunkeeper - My favorite pizza / pizza crust recipe by far is the Zucchini Crust Pizza by YourLighterSide.com. It's so good that even my picky teenage daughter and her boyfriend (yes, he has officially been declared her boyfriend.), will eat an entire pizza in a sitting, with no complaining - and that is straight up miraculous.

Dorothy - That candy is almost dangerous! I totally understand eating bags of it.

Rowanfair - The fat fast was kind of eye opening for me. I hope you see the results that you're looking for.

Sunkeeper - according to the exercise journal it burned 314 calories for an hour. And I am feeling it today. We're supposed to get more snow on Monday, so maybe I'll shovel more!

Myrna - I love your stories about the kids!

Rockmela - I am in Kansas. Great job on Onederland!

I think that's all (although I have probably missed someone). I put on, and wore all day, a pair of size 11 jeans! I am now out of stretchy waistbands. It's funny, my fiance looked at me when he came home and said, "you should really wear jeans more often! They look great on you!"
I am swimming in my extra large shirts and will be going through my closet today to get rid of everything that's now too big. Thank goodness I saved all of my clothes from 'before' I put on so much weight or I'd have nothing to wear right now.
I am really, really, close to the 160's and .9 pounds away from a total loss of 30lbs. I remember when I first started, thinking that losing the weight was going to be impossible. It doesn't feel impossible to me anymore. And that, is in no small part, thanks to this wondeful group and the people in it.

Hi all, well I hit my 20lb milestone today, Yeahhhh! Boy let me tell you, this has been a real learning experience for me.I started out on atkins but had a real tough time loosing the weight. At first, from reading, I thought Induction would last two weeks, the first eye opener was that for me, induction would be permanent, any attempt to eat a little more and my weight loss would stall. The second eye opener for me was that even when I stuck to induction, my weight loss would stall and it would seem impossible to move the scale. So then I discovered fat fasts, they turned out to be really effective at getting the scale moving, however, as soon as I went back on induction, the scale would stop moving. I have finally figured out what works for me, its kinda a cross between a fat fast & induction, its a handful of almonds for breakfast, a handful of almonds & macademias for lunch, and a ceasar salad, no croutons, no meat for dinner. I have been doing this every day and the scale has been moving every other day, and I feel I can keep this up for as long as it takes to get to my goal weight. When I feel like I cant take it anymore I just add chicken or steak to the salad and I'm still way within the rules of induction. This may not work for others that need variety, but for me, strangely enough, the simplicity actually works in my favor. Happy dieting everyone, I hope you are all doing well.

Myrna, there are 4 steps or stages to Atkins. 1st is induction which you stay on for at least 2 weeks, you can stay on for as long as you like though it's quite restrictive. 2nd is OWL, ongoing weight loss where you are allowed more things including alcohol though of coarse you lose at a much slower pace. 3rd is Pre-Maintenance, you are to start this phase when you have about 10 lbs or so left to lose. I'm not sure if I'm at the 10 lb or so stage yet or not as I haven't set my goal in cement yet but I should at least be trying some of the things from step 2 in order to get to stage 3. Stage 4 is maintenance, your life long way of eating to maintain your goal weight.

Wow Toni, you'll be praying for more snow if it burns that many calories. I only do the sidewalk to the front door, could never in a million years do the lane way. I'd have to start at the first sign on snow then hope for an early spring as I doubt I'd ever actually get it completely done!

Niv, WTG! Happy for you!

Finally done with 3 days of fat fast - lost a little under 4 lbs. We'll see whether any of them stay off. My biggest hope is that it will get me losing again. On to induction rules.

Gratz Niv! 20lbs is awesome. I pretty much never raise my carbs over about 25-30g even on maintenance. Some of us are just carb intolerant. I tried to go primal and raise them to 50 and the weight packed back on. Sad

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention in my first post, interestingly, the 20lb mark was also the transition from "obese" to "overweight" according to my BMI. I think its kinda funny that after 2 1/2 months of eating salad i can jump up and down and yell "Yeahhh, I am officially overweight!"

please ask them for me, did it taste like cauliflower? I have been trying to find out if the cauliflower crust id only for those that like cauliflower or if the taste somehow gets neutralized. I'm taking a break from salad tonight and making a pizza with the cream cheese/parmasion/egg crust. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hello all,
Toni - Congrats your doing great!

Niv - 20 pounds - wonderful. I have the same problem, if I'm not on
fat fast I stall or even gain weight.

Myrna - I grated the cauliflower on an old fashion grater (actually my
husband did it) - we really enjoyed it. My husband doesn't
need to diet but Atkins is good for him also because he is diabetic.

I was thinking I'd like to follow someone else's diet calendar because I just can't lose the weight, I keep losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. I do go back to the endocronologists in 2 weeks - I'm on thyroid meds.

Tomorrow is another day, eventhough I am thoroughly discusted today. Tomorrow I will record regular carbs instead of net carbs and try and keep them under 20, maybe that will work. When I look at the pie chart at the bottom of my food diary, my % are good but I still can't lose weight. I even followed the induction menu to the t before and it did not help. Sad today Sad

Rdrunr, I feel your pain, I played with the same 5 lbs for almost 6 weeks then it started to come off again. I did pay more attention to calories rather than not, don't know if that helped or, I also upped my water intake, I'm drinking about 4 liters or 140 oz a day now. One or the other appears to have worked. I've been trying to stick to about 1000 calories a day too keeping that as close to 70% fat, 15% carbs and 15% protein.

Niv, if your eating Atkins bars or drinking the shakes you'll stall, seems everyone does but don't ask me why. They should really have a warning label on them, "don't eat if you want to lose". Just a thought, it's so frustrating when your doing everything right but it just doesn't work.

Myrna, no fair! Why didn't you get any?

Rdrunr557, I feel your pain too, sounds like the same problems that made me very discouraged starting out. Try the almonds and salad thing for a few days and see how you feel, it feels pretty good to me with the occasional chicken on my ceasar when I want to splurge. I did the pizza tonight, it turned out pretty good, but afterwards I felt like i kinda wished I had a salad instead, i'm really starting to enjoy the freshness over greasy foods like the pizza I made. On the second day I bet you lose some weight and continue to lose it for as long as you continue.

Rockmela way to go on the loss. Every ounce loss is a victory and dropping into another category is definitely worth celebrating.

Myrna I have only lost 7-10 pounds (depending on how I'm fluctuating each morning) but I can tell the losss in my face more than anywhere else. I have one old pair of pants I can wear again, but they are kind of big for their size. I went shopping this morning and tried on a smaller size pant out of curiosity and they fit but pretty tight. They are just gonna have to wait. I will not buy pants that don't fit perfectly. Hopefully a couple more weeks and I can try again. Good luck at the doc on Wed. BTW, the cauliflower pizza is great, can't believe you let it go without a taste.

niv congrats on the 20 lbs. I can relate to your struggle. I expected Atkins to allow me to drop pounds regularly. But after the initial water weight loss it has been excrutiating. I began back in November and I still fluctuate between an 8-10 pound loss. I also did the fat fast and had fantastic results but when I went back to induction it all came back. I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. I hope I solve this puzzle soon.

Rdrunr sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I hope you find something that will work for you soon.

As for me, I woke up not wanting to do anything!! I decided I better hop on Sir Rocky Road before I talked myself out of it. My body did not want to cooperate. I managed to stay on for 30 minutes, but it was a torturous 30 minutes and my distance was off. I can usually go 3 miles in 30 minutes but today it was only 2.7. It did help me get my water in as I guzzled 32 oz while on Sir and another 32 oz as soon as I finished.
I'm trying to make turkey bacon jerky. I sliced it in half and put it in the oven at 175. It's been in a little more than an hour adn I just turned them. Well, that's it for now. Have a great night y'all.

Well, I just spent about 20 minutes typing a long post and then it went into "moderation." Really? that has happened to me twice and it states that my post will be visible soon and yet I have never seen them.

Rockmela congrats on loss. I do a victory dance with every ounce lost and dropping into a new category...SWEETNESS!!

Sunkeeper--lol at pizza without the sauce. I'm infamous in my house for forgetting key ingredients, so I can relate.

Myrna I haven't lost much but I can see it in my face, especially the cheeks. Down a pants size...woo hoo, way to go! Good luck with the doc this week.

niv--20 lbs what an awesome feeling that must be. however, I do feel your pain on how the diet is working for you. I know I expected Atkins to be easy with pounds just dripping off of my body. Shopping every 2-3 weeks for new better fitting clothes. Pft! Was I ever disappointed. I've been doing Atkins since November and I keep fluctuating between an 8-10 lb loss. I'm not ready to give up yet, but I have got to find out what is going to work for me.

Rdrnr--sorry you're having such a hard time with the diet. I certainly understand your frustration.

Thanks Sunkeeper and Niv. I had a bad day. I ate things I shouldn't have because I was really discouraged. But, it was only one day. Tomorrow I will try your suggestions. I will start out with macadamia nuts, (I don't have any almonds) and ceasar salads and see where that gets me.
After that for a few days or as long as I can, I'll then try and stay at 1000 calories with the 70,15,15 ratio. I will also increase my water. I do like coffee for breakfast.
Thanks for your encouragement. I really appreciate it. With my medical ailments, losing weight has been a not so successful long haul.
