Myrna, congrats on the new loss and for losing 27 pounds in all! Smile Glad you posted a new pic in the group Smile You might also post it, and your "before" photo, on the Share Your Photos and/or Measurements thread, too. You can add both pics on one post to make sort of a "before and after". If you have any questions about how to add photos to a post, there are instructions here: Photo Diagrams To Help Navigate FatSecret

Toni, yay for any loss big or small! Very Happy I LOVE the baggy clothes "problem". And even though it irks people when I complain about it, I do it often Bad Grin So much so, my family has started saying, "Um, okay we know you're getting skinny so you don't have to end every sentence with that." Laughing

Julie, any loss is a big deal around here Smile And even though you've only lost 5.5 lbs., you're obviously losing some inches Smile

Jamie, thank you for the vote of confidence for me in the Challenge Very Happy Like you, I'm also preparing for another garage sale. I've already sold my 20's and 18's, so this time I'll be getting rid of the 16's. I'm gonna wait a bit to sell the 14's because even though they are a bit baggy, they aren't too uncomfortable, plus, I only have one pair of 12's. I also have a slew of shirts (tents lol) to get rid of. That's really cool about the "skinny" jeans that fit better now! I know that's puts a smile on your face and fills you with pride Very Happy

Rockmela and Julie, I guess I don't get the "forcing me to eat something" thing lol. If I don't want it, I don't eat it. Period. And if they get upset by that, then they can just get glad in the same pants they got mad in Laughing Don't let them be in control of you! I've not lost any friends or family members just because I didn't eat something that they wanted me to Smile

Rdrunr, have to say I enjoy an alcoholic drink from time to time. My favorite concoction so far is Vodka, Diet Sprite, and Crystal Light, though I have used Fresca before, too. (BTW, non-diet Fresca is only available in Latin America). Your question about the flax seed meal is a good one! Whether or not it will impede your weight loss is entirely up to your own body. Flax is a soluble fiber, which means that it needs water in order to turn to a gelatinous state so your body can get rid of it. With some, me unfortunately, even drinking high quantities of water (I was drinking over 100 ounces) did not do the trick. It simply WOULD NOT leave my body Sad It's really a shame because I loved making the crackers and the MIM with it. For others, it doesn't seem to pose a problem, or it does but they lay the "blame" elsewhere. My suggestion would be to try it a little at a time. I think 1 serving is 1/4 cup, which is what most MIM recipes call for. Try eating one muffin and see if it gives you any "going" issues over the next couple of days. If not, try having one twice a week and see what happens. Oh, and here's a site that I refer to when looking for the carb counts in alcohol: Alcohol Carb Chart - Atkins - Low Carb

Dorothy! Was happy to see your post! I know you've been busy, but we missed you! Very Happy Congratulations on the loss!! You're doing so well, girl. Very, very proud of you! Can't wait to see an updated photo!

Sunkeeper, I love your post, and you're so right! Being positive on a daily basis does tend to annoy some people. Just makes me laugh, but certainly doesn't stop me! Bad Grin Big congrats on the loss!! Very Happy There are definitely ways to trick your body. It just goes to show how much more we can succeed when WE are in control of things Smile Thank you for posting such a motivational comment!

My day started pretty early this morning (3am). I went to bed really early last night and got in about 8 hours of sleep, so I weighed when I woke up. Happy to report that I'm down almost another pound since Saturday Very Happy Yay me!! I don't normally weigh very often, usually once every 2 weeks, but since I am in this new Challenge, I'll be weighing once a week, as required.

I still have to get my updated photo off of my digital, so I'll be posting it in a couple of hours. I was thinking about all of the inches I've lost since I started measuring back in October, and realized that I'm only 9.5 inches away from losing my height in inches! That just boggles my mind. Wow!!

Have a great day!! Very Happy

Dorothy - Thank you! The loss stuck is actually down a little more this morning. I'm hoping to be in the 160's by next week. (Hoping)
And hey you, congrats on the losses! You'll be in the 160's in no time at all!
The Walden Farms stuff is a little hit or miss for me, some things are wonderful (some of the salad dressings, the blueberry, strawberry and pancake syrups and the barbecue sauces), and some of it is kind of gross, (the mayonnaise, other salad dressings and peanut butter), but it definitely helps for some things.

Julie - I love netrition and can easily spend far too much on the things they have there.

Myrna - You are looking great! Keep up the good work!

Rdrunr557 - I will occasionally have a mixed drink. Vodka and diet soda is wonderful. However, I realized recently that some of the flavored vodkas do have sugar in them. Most notably, the Smirnoff flavors (Iced Cake, Espresso and Caramel, and I had this absolutely delicious peach vodka by a company called 360 that I could tell was loaded with sugars. The Absolut vodkas do not seem to be sweetened. None of them have kicked me out of ketosis.

Sunkeeper - You are doing so well! I'm so proud of you for staying so focused!

Angie - Thank you! I'm super pleased about it. I think cutting out the sugar free candy and making sure I get to relatively close to my RDI has helped SO much. It seems counterintuitive to eat more to lose weight but there you have it. I'm eating more and losing weight.

Jaime - Thank you! I forget to measure all of the time, too. But I do make it a point to when the scale isn't moving. Or when it's doing that irritating couple of ounces bounce thing.

On pushy people, I'm like Angie, I politely but firmly refuse anything that I don't want or can't have. It's most notably, an issue with my MIL who is notorious for sneaking things into her food that she KNOWS will give me a reaction, like anything with wheat, corn and most grains. Why? I have no idea. I just bring my own food with me when we go to visit her, it pisses her off - but not as much as it pisses me off when I start bloating and my joints ache.

Okay, I'm off to work. I actually got new stuff listed yesterday and I have orders to fill.
I hope everyone has a great day!
- Toni

When I drink, I drink gluten-free potato vodka or a brand of really cheap flavorless rum they sell here. On the rocks, let them melt a bit. I do react to some grain alcohols, so I have to be careful.

I maintained my weight while I was away, and I'm looking forward to my mini-goal of 50 pounds lost, at which point I will print up a t-shirt that says I lost 50 pounds.

I'm pretty sure I will have to adjust my goal upward as I approach it, as I have put on a lot of muscle.

Wow! So much to catch up on. Holy crow. Do you have a format to join the 8 week induction challenge? I am starting with 2 days of fat fast with my new Fat Fast Cookbook and then onto 8 weeks of induction. I still have 20 or so pounds to go. Sigh!

Julie No, I did not mean diet Fresca. I have never seen anything other than Fresca in the stores, and it is made with zero carbs as it is. I imagine if they made it with sugars it would have to read something other than Fresca.

Sunkeeper Great attitude - you are so right!!

Angie Congrats on the loss!

Toni Like you and Angie I won't eat something just cause someone wants to push it on me. If they cannot respect that there are some things that I cannot or will not eat then they can get mad and then get over themselves. It is my body, and I will decide what I put into.

Katherine Congratulations on the maintaining!!

Michelle Good to see you posting!

As for me I have a new dehydrator, and I started a dehydrator thread for anyone that has one or anyone that is considering one. I have pepperoni slices in it now (I read that they make nice little chips). I have my beef strips marinating (courtesy of the recipe that Toni posted) and will put them in tomorrow. I am eager to try some of the veggie chips so anyone that has one or has tried some other recipes please post to the dehydrator thread.

I hope you all have a great day, and will check in later.

Congratulations to all you losers! (giggle) And for those who like me are one stepping back and forth downwards, congratulations on not being defeated by little setbacks, but staying determined.
Angie! Pic & measurements make me misty-eyed, joyful. As an analytical nerd I love the numbers progression for all the body parts. Apparently calves are the last to show loss? J-play, my own pattern is boobs lose first then face then abdomen etc. Funny we always notice on a person's face when they lose weight but you'll never see that on a measurement chart!
Leikoa - I made Angie's no name for lunch and substituted a tahini salad dressing and feta cheese for the blue cheese dressing and cheddar. Sort of Middle Eastern Bowl. Yum.
- As for Fresca, it was, along with Tab, the first of the diet drinks. My sister-in-law was an adult diabetic and her fave cocktail was Fresca & Vodka.
- Count me as one who won't eat what I don't want. One day 20 years ago I read the ingredients on the label of an iced sheet cake. It was aversion therapy. After I knew what they made the frosting with I said never again. Then I just started applying that to other foods over the years. Love the mad pants/glad pants line!
-Sunkeeper, Old man winter ain't keeping homegirl down today! Love it.
-Chef Michelle I think the ship has sailed on joining the challenge, it started yesterday. If you can't join don't let that hold you back from doing it.
- I had a fun moment yesterday. I was putting on some grey corduroys and I had to struggle to get the zipper up and top buttoned, but I managed. I was like, oh man, did I put these in the hot dryer? When I gained my weight I leapfrogged and missed some sizes until I ended up in 10's (which I only bought 4 pair of pants). So I unbuttoned and turned to look at the back waist and label. They weren't the size 10 cords. 6P Smile Yay!!!! They were snug, I wore them to grocery shop, and I won't be wearing them for another 10 pounds, but yay! Scale: liar, liar, pants on fire!

LOL Julie, that's something that my mom used to say all the time. It's a good motto! Thanks for adopting it Smile

Toni, I know what you mean. It's always seemed strange that you can actually lose weight by eating more food. It's the same with the water thing. Drink more to keep from retaining it. Our bodies are amazing things. Yay for orders to fill! Very Happy

Darri, you so funny Razz I always used to lose in my face first, but it's been different this time around. I actually started losing first in my midriff and tummy. I rarely lose very much "up top". Most of what I've lost there is from around my back. I was really surprised that I lost anything from my calves. They've always been really muscular and very little fat on them, thanks to gymnastics when I was younger, and being short (lots of tipee-toe reaching) LOL. The funny think I've noticed about losing in my face is that I don't have to use as much liquid foundation anymmore. I don't have as much face LOL. I swear, when I put the same amount on my finger as I always have, it's enough for one side of my face, plus my chin and nose LOL. Guess I'll save some money there, huh? I have actually seen people put face measurements, though. They measured top to bottom and cheek to cheek. Wish I had done that. Did you say 6's??? Wowowow!! That's awesome, girl!! HUGE congratulations to you! I woulda worn those babies to the store, too! LOL

Wow, five days away from the computer sure gives a lot to read in this community! (Also makes my food logging pretty spotty.) But my hospitality suite at the conference was a great success with lots of guest and almost all the food we ordered consumed. I fell down and ate some sugary treats. I plan to try a fat fast to get back on track. We'll see how that goes.

WOW!! Congrats to everyone for all of the losses. Everyone is doing an amazing job. I can't wait to go look at all of the new pictures and I'll post individual comments on the pics.

This morning I actually saw a loss in spite of my Southwestern Salad at McDonalds. I wish I'd been able to research first and I never would have bought that!! Just in case anyone sees the word "salad" and assumes it's the best choice.....guess again. This one has chips, black beans and corn in it. The dressings were rather high carb too.

I also accidentally ran across another problem that I may have to face in the weight loss challenge. I have restarted birth control that my doctor, when specifically asked, said would not cause weight gain. However, when I started looking at all of the paperwork and the website one of the top side affects is weight gain. I'm not sure how I'm going to combat that but I'll figure it out eventually.

Today I have been extremely strict induction and watching to make sure I get my water in today.

Hey everyone,

Well done on all the good work, you're all doing so well, keep it up! Smile

Angie - another pound down, you're looking skinny, girl! Lose any more weight and all that'll be left of you will be a shadow, hehe. Smile It's hard to believe that you've almost lost your entire height in inches (that's super crazy) - that's such a great achievement. Very Happy

On the subject of pushy food people, I've encountered it before with people who know they shouldn't be eating the [cupcake, chocolate, insert other bad food here] and so they pressure you to eat it to make themselves feel better about eating the bad food, like they feel better about eating the bad food if someone else is eating with them. I'm a really shy, quiet person but that's one thing I won't let people get away with, I always just decline politely.. and decline again and again until they give up and leave me alone, hehe. Smile Toni, that sucks about your MIL. What you choose to eat is up to you and you alone. Good on you for taking your own meals. Smile

Lol, Myrna, you crack me up!

Michelle, you'll get there, keep up the good work!

Jaime, so jealous of your new dehydrator! I'm gonna have to try some of those recipes out in my oven (that, or man up and join the dehydrator club)! Hang in there, those cravings are the worst! I feel for you!

Darri - yay on the size 6's! Very Happy

Rowanfair, glad to hear the conference was a success.

Rachel, congrats on your loss. Smile Have you started on a hormonal birth control? Unfortunately, I think it's the hormones that cause the weight gain. I'm on the pill currently (have been for about 5 years now) and within a month of starting on it I had started to gain weight. In fact, now that I think about it, I would attribute almost all of my weight gain to being on the pill. I think maybe already being a low carber would make the weight gain less noticeable though. Smile

Trying to stick to strict induction is hard cause I've been a bit slack with my food (I can't be bothered measuring stuff out most of the time, lol) but I'm pretty well on track today! Having Chicken Bacon Crock Pot Chowder for dinner, gonna have it on top of some fried cabbage I think. Also gonna go rock climbing after work today - it's a really good work out.

Hope you're all having a good day. Smile

Leikoa--Yes, I'm on NuvaRing which is a hormonal birth control. I'm really hoping that since I've already started with the weight loss that it won't affect it too bad or at least after the first few weeks things will level back out.

Hi All..

This is going to be a lengthy one.. sorry about that.. I just needed to chat.. lol lol lol.. It's 10:55pm and I'm trying to wind down..Hope everyone's day was great!

Still waiting on that ticker to work..Can't never get a response when sending a message on the error message.. oh well!!

Toni.. thank you for the info for the Walden Farms - I have checked out the netrition.com site but I was a little leary of trying them. Now I have a reference.. thanks.. I can't wait to be in the 160's! You and I are running neck and neck, probably going to hit it at the same time or very close! Very Happy

Jaime.. I feel your grief with the cravings... I am at the end of day 2 ( TOM) and I had to run to the store to buy some sugar free candy.. Sad (sigh sigh) Trying so hard not to open the package.. but I can't guarantee it! lol lol lol... We will get thru this.. I have 4 more days to go! yikes..

Angie.. Girl you look MARVELOUS in your photo! So pretty, you have a wonderful glow. Brand New You! - I am so happy and proud of you! By the Way you are looking Slim! Wink

Sunkeeper.. What a great POST! I have read it 2 times.. Such strong, meaningful and worthy words! Thanks for the knowledge.. Congratulations on your weight loss.... You hung in there and I commend you.. it's hard but you did it! Very Happy

Darri.. girlie! You make me smile all the time! The first place I lose weight is my CHA CHA'S! Then the rest of my body loses evenly.. I tell you - My breast are now swimming in the cups of my bras that I can't fit anymore! lol lol lol.. they used to be soooo tight! My sister says the cups (of the bra) looks like my twins helmet! heeheeeeee.. Like Angie size 6!!! Geesh girlie! I wish.. I haven't been that small since ... hmmm I can't remember! You're doing a great job!

Rachel.. hang in there girlie!! You're here, posting and giving it your all! Lately when I'm out and about I haven't gave in .. I used to carry some type of snack with me. But haven't lately. I completely understand what you mean about the salads, and other goodies when out, I've had to resist on several occassions.. I have basically starved myself in the day and when I get home I want to eat the refrigerator! lol lol lol.. Again, hang in there on the Induction.. This week I am trying so hard to stick with it.. probably won't meet the challenge on STrict but I am doing Induction.. This TOM has me going! lol lol lol

I have an adult beverage every so often.. Quite a bit lately to be honest. The past couple weeks - Stress has been getting the best of me.. I have taken a liking to the Skinny girl Margarita or the Jose Cuervo Skinny Margarita - delicious! I love Fresca, never saw the Diet Fresca before - I just know the Fresca has no carbs or calories.. I can only find it at Target they never have it at the large grocery store I go to..

Leikoa.. your Chicken Bacon Crock Pot Chowder sounds delicious! I love Cabbage - yummy! Can you pass the recipe for your chowder?

I believe I have chatted more than I should have.. So I am going to say goodnite.. When some of you read this it will be GOOD MORNING! Very Happy

We're in this together!

Your so right BBD, we are so in this together and look at those results, wow, everyone is really putting in the effort, good job.

It's such an advantage to have others who know exactly what you are going through, the ups and the downs of all of it plus the struggles to get to each level. So many are about to make break throughs in the numbers with Jaime leading us along now that she's broken through her big one.

The 150's are looming for me (and a few others too). Thought it might happen this morning but no which is fine.

When I got out of the shower yesterday there was a person staring at me and while she didn't quite have that "hour glass" figure I could see more of a "week glass" appearing, is she in your mirror yet? I also noticed I have collar bones, who knew?

I can identify with everyone having clothes that don't fit. Yesterday I got a new pair of jeans as I'm tired of spending my day hiking up the ones I have all the time. Am so pleased to say a size 12 fits really nicely, not a 6 but hey from where I came I'm over the moon. Still a bit early yet for buying lots as I'm not done but soon, I hope.

Who else is looking forward to the shopping spree in the regular section of the store rather than the image sizes or full figure stores?

I love this group because of the support and the sheer amount of information in it. I am glad that there are SO many knowledgeable members that are here to support me as well as kick my butt back into gear should I need it.
You guys both singularly, and collectively, rock.

I'm in the full throes of PMS this week and consequently went high on sodium and calories but not on carbs so that's good. But bad because I went too high on sodium and calories. I'll do better today.

Congrats to everyone that's losing!

We are having a snow storm! Yay! I'm a southern, East Coast transplant, (I moved to Kansas from Charleston, S.C.), so snow is still a big deal to me even after being here for 7 years. I'm planning on making this soup and doing Research and Development for the rest of the day. (Research and development basically amounts to me, blending new things but I like how official it sounds to say, "R&D"Wink)

I hope everyone here is having a wonderful day. Smile

Good morning, low carbers!

Starting a fat fast today and planning on going back to Atkins Induction. I don't think the primal/paleo thing is really working for me. Although I will still eat more healthily than Atkins as I won't do sugar alcohols, industrial seed oils and such.

In April 2010 when I started on FS I weighed 220. Over the years I fluctuated and got down to about 160 in the fall of 2011 (goal was 155). I'm back up to 182 and looking at measurements. The last time I was ~180 in December 2010, my measurements were almost identical except my thighs are maybe a little thinner now (or I'm measuring in a different place LOL). I hope this time to actually hit goal and figure out maintenance. Onward!
