I binged yesterday and went way, way over my RDI. I'm not going to stress about it though and here's why. For weeks, I've had an impossible time getting anywhere close to my RDI.
I was actually entirely too low for my carbs.
I'm still holding at exactly 174.
I'm hitting a PMS week and did not have any sugar free candy.

I have come down 2 more inches in my waist. ALL of my clothes are really loose and baggy.

In other news, I took yesterday off. I am probably going to take most of today off. It's funny, owning my own business, most people think that I take as many days off as I want. I don't really. I'm far more likely to work 15 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Angie - I don't know when things shifted with my daughter. I know that it feels like we fought every day for the first 2 years and after that, the fighting stopped. We still have some disagreements but she's by and far, a much better kid than she used to be.

Rockmela - The oopsie rolls are fantastic. I don't make them as much as I used to but I remember when I first discovered them, I was making a batch every other day, and having sandwiches every single day.

Jaime - Congrats on Onederland! It feels good, doesn't it? Smile

Rachel - Get back on the wagon, girl! You know that you have us for support.

I've probably missed people and if so, I am so sorry. I'll be back later today.
- Toni

Rockmela - the original oopsie rolls with nutritional info is on yourlighterside.com website. there is a thead somewhere in our group for favorite low carb websites. You might want to get acquainted with a few of them, they would certainly answer many of the questions you have.
April - ditto on what Angie said about the low-carb sweets. You said in the recipe that you eat them by the palmful. Most humans would have multiple palmfuls and that just can't be conducive to weight loss!Smile I am sure that you are just trying to keep your family happy while you are low-carb. Hope your daughter is feeling better today.
Toni - yay baggy clothes for you! And kudos for not stressing over the 'binge'. I say take another day off from your business. It sounds like you have been working non-stop. Make today a Take Care of Toni Day. Okay?
As for me, still sticking to plan after getting back on Monday. Love that the recipes are coming back alive! It's brrrr here but sunny.

Hey everyone,

I'm a bit behind (cause I don't usually check in over the weekend) so I won't reply to everyone, but I have read all the posts. Smile

Jaime - congrats to your daughter! I know you are so proud! What a great achievement. Smile And also, welcome to Onederland! You've worked so hard to get here, well done. Very Happy

Angie - the Nameless dish you posted in the recipe section looks DE-licious! I'm definitely gonna give that one a go cause I really do struggle to get my 12-15g net carbs from veges. I've just gotta find a good dressing to put on it. I think I might try it with some kind of ranch and add some blue cheese crumbles (I've never been able to find a pre-made blue cheese dressing here in NZ. Sad)

Darri - your Mediterranean dish looks super yum too! I really like the idea of a one dish chicken challenge, will have to get my thinking cap on and give it a go.

Toni - thanks for sharing your kimchi recipe! What does kimchi taste like? (I mean like is it tangy? Crunchy? Anything you could compare it to? I've never tried sauerkraut either tho, lol) I've never tried it before but it sounds like it would be yummy.

Also, thanks MorePlease for your choccy chip recipe. Smile

Rachel - I'm the same when it comes to half-a$$ing with this WOE. I try to plan, it gets hard when you have to factor other people in and my brother's a picky eater so I have to try and make sure whatever I make he's gonna eat. I don't always log my food cause I'm lazy (lol) so on days when I'm hungry and want a snack, I'm probably going over my carbs (with low-carb friendly foods, but still over my net carbs none the less) so I'm not seeing the results that I want. It's time for me to stop making excuses and just do it. I just need to be more prepared. Now that your whole family is low-carbing, it's gonna be a lot easier for you. Smile

I stopped weighing myself every day and decided to just weigh in on Mondays. I've been stalled at 64.5kg for a while now (was 64.5kg at last weigh in 11th Feb) and when I weighed in this morning (18th Feb) I'm at 64.6kg! Okay, so 100g isn't that much in the scheme of things, but no loss/a gain for this week is a bit annoying (I've been trying to be reasonably induction strict with my foods). I know the scales don't tell the full story (thanks to whomever posted the link to that article btw! It really put things into perspective) and that I should measure myself instead, but I didn't have time to this morning so will have to measure myself tomorrow. Also, I've been doing way more exercise than I normally do so maybe I've put on muscle and that's why it's showing as a gain on the scale.

I'm doing some meal planning now, it makes it a lot easier to follow strict induction levels if I know in advance what I'm going to eat.

Hope you're all having a good day! Smile

Argggghhhhhh...I had a bad eating day. I had 1/2 slice of pizza and then I was like...omg WHAT AM I DOING? Rest of day was good...went to a concert and had a burrito bowl, asked them to not put any grains in, or beans and of course....beans and rice. It smelled so good...I ate it. Then I ate two brownies....OMG, I hope I still lose weight this week. These new percentages are HARD. Need to get back on track tomorrow. Thank you for reading my confession.

Good Monday morning LCing friends and happy Family Day to those celebrating it in Canada.

Leikoa, stalls are never fun, why do we have to have them anyway? Test our patience or is there another purpose like body catching up? Nah, can't be a logical explanation but hang in there, it'll get better.

Darri, really happy to see your sticking with the plan again. Your worth it you know, go kick butt!

Toni, so happy you took some Toni time. I laugh at people that think owing your own business is a piece of cake, they really should try it! Guess we just have to accept the fact that some people know everything, rofl.

April, how's your little girl? Hope on the road to recovery so you can get some sleep, hubby too. Never fun to have a sick child, hang in there.

Rachel, you go girl! Back at it with a vengeance will get good results quick making it so worth your while. Clap, clap, clap, proud of you.

Rockmela I mean this in a sincere way, are you really wanting to live a new WOE? You've only been at it for a couple of weeks though it seems so many of your posts are "thanks for listening to my confession" types. Is there something we can do to help you get with the program? You just don't come across, to me anyway, that your putting 100% into making your life better and you deserve that, you really do.

As for me I'm still loving all the new recipes I'm finding and I'm having such a hard time making meal plans as I want to make everything TODAY, they all sound so darn good. Went out yesterday with my daughter and got the flowers for the wedding, another job ticked off the list which now is pretty much whittled down to nothing left to do till right before hand. Got my rowing machine out of the back of the closet on Sat and have been working away on it, holy cow that's a work out and it's going to take a bit to work up to any length of time on that one. Sure does get the midriff muscles working and that's exactly what I need to work on. After only 5 minutes yesterday I could hear my heart beating in my ears, think I need to turn down the tension some! Feels good though and while machines aren't nearly as much fun as doing outdoor activities, when you live in the north and it's Feb that's the smart thing to do to ensure you don't freeze to death. My gosh it's cold, where's that stupid ground hog, bet I'm not the only one wanting to get my hands on the liar for getting my hopes up. Oh wait, what am I saying? No logical person would listen to a varmit!

Have a great low carbing day friends, be nice to yourselves, that goal will get closer and closer and closer so try harder and harder and harder to get there. You'll thank yourself for the effort when your done. You are all worth that effort.

Today is the beginning of the 8 Week Induction Challenge! I love a good Challenge and I know that I'll be in smaller-sized clothes by the time it's over. I'll be taking an updated comparison photo tonight to post in the "Share Your Photos and/or Measurements" thread. I don't feel like I look any different, but I guess we'll see Smile Sunkeeper, thank you for the mention the other day about my upcoming photo Smile

Toni, if you're like me, and I think you are, sometimes going over seems to boost my metabolism. I, too, have a tendency to eat way below my RDI for calories. Of course, in saying that, I have to add that it's not something I would recommend doing for someone just starting out. In those early days, it's so very important to stay on plan and really commit yourself to changing the way you eat, and how you think about food. I know that you have a good foundation built and you will be fine. You are determined and knowledgeable. I know you're so happy for those 2 inches lost Smile I hope you enjoyed your couple of days off! As for my teenage girls, we rarely fight anymore, but lord have mercy at the boy problems! Rolling Eyes lol

San, as you can tell by that recipe, I'm still going bonkers over Brussels Sprouts Laughing And now, one of my daughters likes them, too! I'm sure the blue cheese crumbles will be good with it. NZ has no prepared blue cheese dressing? What's up with that?! LOL! Hang in there, girl. Your body will catch up and you'll start seeing a loss Smile Make sure you're eating lots of veggies and don't forget your water! Very Happy I'm proud of you for not being ruled by the scale. Weighing once a week is best. Here lately, I've been weighing once every 2 weeks. My clothes still fit the same, and some are getting baggier, so I know I'm doing fine Smile

Rockmela, it's so easy to eat things just out of habit and without really thinking. I stuck a big bite of baked potato in my mouth the other day and thought, like you, "What are you doing??" LOL! I spit it out as soon as my brain kicked back in lol. Like Sunkeeper said, if there's anything that we can do to help support you, do let us know. That's why we're here Smile

Sunkeeper, I know you're happy about whittling that list down. And that rowing machine is a great workout! BTW, I think I accidentally on purpose kicked that ground hog the other day Laughing

My kids are out of school today and I'm sure they'll find all sorts of ways to keep me busy.. and entertained lol

Have a great day and I'll check in here later Smile

Edit: I posted in my Journal today about a dilemma I'm having and would like some suggestions is anyone has some to offer. If you have the time, please take a look and help me out if you can Smile Thanks!

Good Morning Fellow Low Carbers....today I got on the scale and did my weigh in and I am officially lighter than my husband....HE IS NOT AMUSED!!! Let the games begin! LMAO Smile

For those of you struggling...I struggled in the past....but, I decided this is MY YEAR!! I am doing this for me! I feel so much better, I look so much better, and I act so much better! I found that once I set my mind to it, the foods I "crave" are not that important to me.

You just have to mentally kick yourself in the A$$ and get on with it!

Have a great low carb day!

Just found out my ticker isn't working...I'm @ 242.0

We have chosen a path in the road...sometimes we will hit a bump, trip on a rock, miss a corner, and slam right into a mountain....but if we just back up a little, we can get right back on the path!

Sunkeeper, this is my first confessional. I had my cheat day the other day and have no problem waiting for it. I am sure many, or most, can attest that lifestyle changes take time and ups and downs. I am down 8 pounds in three weeks so I am happy with that.

Hey Rockmela, if it works for you yay. I had thought with you only starting on Jan 26 and from your weigh in history which says a 5 lb loss you were struggling which lots of the members would be more than happy to help you with. Sorry, was only trying to help but you appear to be on coarse, go get me!

Way to go Angie, kick the little varmit another time for me too!

Morning all,
I am thoroughly enjoying my mock danish this morning. I added a little bit of Walden Farms Blueberry Syrup to it - no calories, no carbs, no sugars - and it is absolutely delicious.
I worked a little bit yesterday and really spent the rest of the day vegging.
I'm pleased to say that there was a tiny bit of loss this morning. I'm not going to record it yet to see if it holds and is still true tomorrow.

Angie - I think you're right. I'm working really hard to get my RDI up and I think it's working.

Leikoa - Kimchi is hard to describe. It's definitely spicy. A little bit tangy, crunchy. There is no food equivalent that I'm aware of here in the US. Koreans eat kimchi with every meal in a variety of ways and there's a ton of different kinds. Some people say that it's an acquired taste - but I grew up with it and was born in Korea, so for me, it's a comfort food. My fiancee has loved it from the first time he tried it.

You guys are all so sweet and so supportive. I appreciate every single one of you.

Have a great day all!

Hey, Low Carbers!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted in a while...however, I have been quietly keeping up with everything.

Well, the good news is that I had to have all of my jeans taken in 2 inches around the waist. I hated to be without all of my pants for a week, but it was necessary. The tailor did a fantastic job, and she didn't overcharge me at all, so I'm really happy about that. I have 2 more pairs to take to her this afternoon...

Also, my ticker isn't working either. Although it's not a big change, I'm really at 136.5. I know that a half pound isn't a big deal, but after reading the article that Jaime posted on "why the scale can sometimes lie", I'm okay with it. (Especially since I had to have my pants taken in.)

Rockmela- Don't feel bad... Yesterday my niece turned a year old, and there were these tiny cupcakes at the party. Well, I wasn't going to have one, I didn't even want one (I don't really like pastries very much), but my sister just insisted and I felt like I'd be rude if I didn't take one. [Pastry peer pressure!!LOL] Anyway, I planned to throw it in the trash, but my sister practically hovered over me until I ate it. It was the smallest cupcake I'd ever seen, but the guilt overwhelmed me anyway.
What I'm trying to say here is that we can't beat ourselves up over these small setbacks. We have to move on. I shouldn't have to feel as guilty as I did over that tiny cupcake--that's just a wasted emotion. Today is a new day...do you know what I mean? By the way, I'm proud of you for bringing your "confession" to the group...that's what I needed to do as well. Thanks for listening.Wink

Myrna- Yeah for you!!!! How wonderful to be lower than your hubby!! If you have time, post another picture so that we all can see the new you!! Congratulations, girl!! Razz Razz

I hope everyone has a terrific day!

Toni congrats on the inches lost! I keep saying I need to measure again and then I forget to. Will try tomorrow. Baggy clothes....that is awesome! I am so happy to hear that you got some rest!

Leikoa thanks so much! I wouldn't stress over that scale. Not sure if you saw the post that I made about why scales lie but it was very informative.

Sunkeeper I keep saying I am going to pull out the rowing machine that I spotted in the storage closet (not ours but left here in this house) and use it. Maybe I will get it out today Smile

Angie I am sure you will do awesome on your challenge.

Myrna That is so awesome!! You are making changes and things are changing for you! Way to go. You are right!! This is our year!!!!

Julie That is great to have your pants all taken in!! Weigh to go!!! Wink

My ticker is not working either...I find that frustrating only because this seems to be a re-occurring problem here on FS. That is exactly what I posted in the little problem window that popped up.

Okay so had Chinese yesterday and although I stuck to the meats and veggies I know the sodium was high and probably hidden carbs too. So I will work it to try to keep my fat up today and will get my exercise in. The sun is out today so maybe it will be after work and I can get a walk in.

Planning a garage sale with my daughter and I have clothes that are too big. So I will put them in and then take what is left to goodwill. I do have some nicer suits and dresses that I will see if I can get taken in as I really like them. I put on a pair of my 'skinny' jeans yesterday. I tried them a couple of weeks ago and although they were on it was miserable. Yesteray I tried them and I was amazed. Fingers are swollen today so water water water and more water.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hello all,

Today I over indulged, had 2 lemon drop martinis. Not to many RDI's but way to many carbs. The good thing is I found an Atkins drink, vodka and club soda. Although I don't drink that often, I'll know better for next time.

Thanks to everyone who posted on the receipe link. I love having low carb receipes. I was wondering, would it impede my weight loss, having flaxseed meal (either MIM or crackers) everyday?

Wishing everyone a great low carb day!

Hi All,

Everyone on here has been very busy, so glad to see the group active.

Toni.. Congrats on the scale finally moving again and of course those baggy clothes! I know how you feel when at a standstill, you have been holding on strong and know that you are vegging like you normally do - I KNOW THAT SCALE IS GOING TO MOVE! I have faith in you girlie! Don't worry about that binge day - you know what to do.. You've already done it - back on the wagon! Where do you purchase the blueberry syrup? no cals, carbs

Rachel - GIRLFRIEND! Don't give up, come on back strong. When we have our busy life, stressors, and other things come into play we tend to veer to the left. I know you are going to do great and get back on the wagon.. Although you haven't been able to stay on plan as you "like" you have been consistent with verbalizing in your posts and that's the great! If you wouldn't have been posting - I'd be a little nervous. YOU GOT THIS!!

Leiko.. glad that you have stopped getting on that scale daily - It will have you losing your mind. Once or twice a week is good enough..

I found the oopsie roll recipe - Can't wait to try them. Hopefully they aren't too addictive!

rdrunner .. those lemon drops sound DELICIOUSO! be mindful of those beverages.. Smile Those carbs know how to sneak up on us!

Myrna.. I see the weight loss on you - looking good..

Angie.. it's time for me to share an updated photo as well.. Will try to do so soon..

It appears everyone is doing great, communicating, posting on the site, staying on plan, losing inches, wearing baggy clothes (lol lol lol ) , incorporating exercise into the daily regimen.. ALL THAT!!

Here's to low carbing and much success to all of us!

EDITED: My ticker doesn't work as well.. As of this morning, I am at 171.2! Smile

Good morning, everybody-

I just emailed the "Fat Secret Gods" about our tickers not working. I'll let you know what they say...

Jaime- Don't you mean vodka and diet Fresca?? If so, you are right--that makes a great drink!Wink Also, a friend of mine likes vodka and Crystal Light (she uses the lemonade flavor, but I think you can use whatever flavor you like best)--very diet-friendly. (Disclaimer: Always drink in moderation! LOL)

Toni- Netrition.com is the site I ordered my EZ Sweet drops and coconut flour from. Great site...really fast shipping!

Myrna- I said it before, and I'll say it again: What a difference!! You look beautiful! And so thin!! WOW!!!!!Very Happy

Well, I have a heck of a day in front of me...I have a ton of work to do, and my daughter is home sick. Poor thing...

Have a great day, everyone!

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Good Tues morning low carb friends from across the world and a great day it is, I met my first mini goal after thinking the past couple of days it was going to pass me. Changed it up somewhat yesterday and ate more protein just to trick myself, it appears to have worked, don't you just love it when that happens?

I struggled and struggled all through Jan and the first parts of Feb with the numbers on that stupid scale not hardly moving and the tape measure staying pretty much in the same place as well. A couple times I let myself feel defeated but only for a few hours before I got mad and turned it back around saying it wasn't going to happen, I would reach my goal if it killed me and here I sit 11 lbs away from that, I'm still alive! Not only has it not killed me, it's made me better, more determined than ever that the dreams and goals I have are mine to reach out for, nobody else can give them to me, buy them for me or hand them down to me, they are mine for the taking.

They are yours too, reach high, push yourself to be better, achieve what you set out to do then pat yourself on the back when you hit a mile stone. Turn on your head lights, you are the only one that can keep you in the dark but if you want to hop on this band wagon with me come on, it's going to be one hell of a ride! Life, I'm not done with you yet, far from it......
