Just had some sashimi for lunch. LOVE. No rice, just some mixed greens with a few drops of some kind of sesame dressing that looked like semen but tasted amazing. I was like, "Ew, what do I do with THIS gross-looking goo?" then I tasted it and it was great. So in my book that means it's really bad, so I just had a few drops of it.

BBD5: Well, you called your exercise bike SHE....so how about BETTY? Betty the bike...has a nice ring to it! Maybe George can send her a picture...lol

ROLLER SKATES...I have roller skates...my knee would never go for roller blades...even before I hurt it...this time...Sad

Danzaldo...That sounds interesting..the more you write, the more I think we are related! I had fried brussells sprouts with a little garlic and olive oil...and 4 pieces of bacon jerky! yum...need to make a new batch this weekend and some jerky...especially since I got my new dehydrator.

Going to go get the boys ready for bed...be back soon...

Hey all!! and welcome to all the new "faces." I still consider myself relatively new as i've only been hanging around for a couple of weeks. You have come to the BEST group on the site. Everyone here is welcoming and encoouraging...not to mention funny.

On the topic of naming our epuipment, my elliptical is Sir Rocky Road. An appropriate name for many reasons. However, my scale is simply called Sally. I talk real sweet to her in hopes she will sweet talk back...doesn't always work.

I like Myrna's name for your bike...Betty, maybe Black Betty...bambalam.

Myrna Louise I hear you about stomach not hurting anymore. That is what got me on this whole WoE back in 2010. My stomach hurt 3-5 days a week and Chris Kresser did this blog post on heartburn & gerd and suggested low carb. I had done Atkins in the 80s and it worked (until I went back to eating carbs) so I figured I could do it again. This time it is for life... and within two weeks I threw away my pills. And almost three years later I'm still happy with the choice.

Good morning, everybody!
So much chatter...this group is awesome!

I have a question: Does anybody have any good breakfast food ideas that aren't eggs (and low carb, of course)? What is your favorite breakfast?? I'm going to check the recipes forum, but I thought I'd just throw that out there...

BBD5- I don't know what was bothering you yesterday, but whatever it was you are right: THIS TOO SHALL PASS. (My grandmother always used to say that.) Keep your chin up! And congrats on the 36 lb. weight loss--that's a major feat!

Dianna- Lovin' the picture of your daughter! So cute!! Girl, you have me craving some sashimi! I've made up my mind--that's what I'm having for dinner tonight.

Myrna- Oh, sorry...I mixed that up. You have roller SKATES. (Well, I was in the ballpark.)

MorePlease- Hi, April! I'm going to try speaking sweetly to my scale too and see if that helps. LOL!

Jamie- What an innovative exercise idea: Shoveling! Talk about killing two birds with one stone. It's better than just running around the neighborhood like I do. You actually get something done!

MusicGirl7- Welcome to our group!! I'm sure that you will find our chatter warm and entertaining as well as supportive. Bring us your ups, your downs, whatever is on your mind!Smile

Rowenfair- This is a little late, but thanks for the Wheat Belly book link. I'm going to get a sample sent to my Kindle from Amazon. By the way, what is WOE??

I hope I didn't miss anybody...I'll check in periodically during the day to see what's up.

Have a great day!Very Happy

Happy Friday!! I have to read through the past couple pages of posts so I'll be spending some time over the weekend reading them(yeah!!).

I wanted to mention for those of us that eat nuts that I was watching Dr Oz yesterday and he had on someone that said if you eat nuts, they should be raw and not roasted. The roasting process alters the oils in some way. There may be more info on the Dr Oz website, but I didn't check it out. I had heard that before and thought that was interesting so I wanted to share. Ok. Gotta run and can't wait to catch up on all the posts this weekend!

Hope everyone has a great, relaxing, on-plan eating weekend. Very Happy

Good Friday Everyone! I hope everyone has a great day. I have just ventured into a 2-3 month transition into a new life. Started job searching, getting ready to finish up my last class then internship. Then a huge move back out on my own with just me and the baby. No help-AAAACK!!

I haven't been around the past week or so but as always I keep coming back. A special thank you to Dorothy for giving me a nudge and getting me back here! Although I'm not going over my carb counts I'm not getting any headway either. Which I know is probably because I have a high calorie count. I'm going to keep trying to eat healthier but I'm not going to stress the weight part of it until I'm only having to take care of myself and the bay. My parents are verbally supportive of my WoE but are not quite so supportive when it actually comes to DOING it. My mom is constantly buying and bringing cookies and cakes and then giving me a piece for my son etc. My dad has done low carb for years so he's in the maintenance stage and has added enough "off limits" foods back over time that he's forgotten that it's not okay for me to eat an apple or cookie even if it's just one. So just going to keep trying to eat healthier but get really serious about it when I'm on my own again.

YAY...off to deal with the Dept. of Human Services (child support) then internship then work! Oh what a day.

Good morning everyone. I have not been in touch for a while, maybe a week. It has been a week that it is good to get past. We've all been there I know. Anyway, considering the stress and a couple of ridiculous food blips along the way, I am satisfied, if not downright delighted, to have not seen a gain from this time last week. Now I will focus again.

Random question--when i click into the forum, is there a way to get the last page to show first instead of the first page. I tend to read backwards for some reason, usually starting with the last post and ending when I read something that sounds familiar.
It's a quirk, I know. I also read magazines that way. Always back to front (of course I read the articles correctly, just the last one first).

Hey MusicGirl7, sorry the diet didn't treat you well. I peeked at your food log and notice that you have 1-2 Atkins bars/snacks each day. That could be your problem. I love, love, love the hazelnut bars myself, but I tend to eat only 1 or 2 in a month because they stall my weight loss if I have any more than that.
My suggestion would be to go a few weeks without any and see if your weight loss starts again.
Good Luck!!

Good morning folks!!! **Well afternoon, now....been writing this post in short stints between interuptions. I hate it when work gets in the way!!

Been late checking in today, had a million things to do once I got here to work, the main one gluing the little end-cap-thingee on my heel back in. Stupid cracked parking lot outside my work tweeked it loose so I raided the maintenance guy's little room for some epoxy. Priorities.

I had an ok time at the gym. I must say the last half of this week I have been less boss-like at the gym. I need to get more rest, maybe eat smarter. Who knows. But I stay in there, work through it as best I can. Last night I saw something disturbing at the gym. I was on the gauntlet machine, you know the one woth a revolving set of stairs and those machines are against the back wall. I caught some guy taking pictures with his cell phone, of OTHER PEOPLE ON THE MACHINES!! It's common to see people take 'selfies' while working out - either for Instagram or whatever, but this guy was trying to be sly. He was pretending to text but his phone was facing away from where he could see. I saw him snap shots of us on the stairs then turn the phone and get shots of those on the treadmills directly in from of him. He wasn't there to work out - he was in wrangler jeans, some kind of quilted vest and he was just walking around. Most gyms have cell phone camera/privacy policies to protect it's members. This guys was just pervy-lookin'. I'm sorry, I'm profiling here but he just looked a little creepy and the way he was trying to be sneaky with his cell phone. I told security to keep an eye on him, other girls noticed. Not just me. Gross.

I will try to sweettalk the scale - I don't own one, I weigh in on the big gym scale. THE BOY has a scale and I used to jump on it when he wasn't looking, but I'd end up cussing it out because it was NEVER nice to me. I'm sure he thinks I had tourette's syndrome or something when he'd catch me in there cussin'. Alone. He still likes me, so I must not be THAT weird. Or maybe HE'S weird and LIKES that sort of thing. I'll stop now.

Myrna, maybe speak sweetly to your knee and it might want to heal faster and not hurt so much? It's worth a shot...?

Thanks Julie! She is pretty darn fond of her wig - we even go to the grocery store in it. Heck, I have to embrace the silly. It's too damn fun! She is all girl, my little one. Her big sister got her 5 pairs of plastic princess shoes for Christmas. 5 pairs. Another great thing that came out of my marriage - a good friend/step daughter. She is only 9 years younger than me, but she is a single mother of two and even though she is far, she calls often and is my supportive friend through it all. So, needless to say we have never called each other mom/daughter - we consider ourselves peers/friends/sisters/ding & dong (hey!!! running shoes name?)

Um, what else...I ate a cupful of pineapple last night. Ugh. I couldn't resist. THE BOY cut up a pineapple for my baby girl and I couldn't help it. Waaahh...and this morning, I had 3 pieces of heavenly applewood smoked bacon. I went in there to ask the cook for his new W4 form and the smell was sinful. He gave me 3 pieces and said "eat a cheeseburger!" when I left. He thinks plump is pretty and healthy looking. I love him. He hates skinny Smile NEVER TRUST A SKINNY CHEF!

What is WOE?

I have to get to work. They kinda pay me here, so far I've played here, glued the little rubber thing that busted loose off my heels this morning in the parking lot, taken some pictures and randon calls. Sheesh...I think I was born to be a kept woman. This working crap is the pits.
