Okay, confession time for me. I have totally quit exercising. I guess it’s kind of an experiment? I was struggling with increasing my calorie intake without really increasing my carb intake, so I feel like I just didn’t have enough to “work out like a boss” (as my daughter says). My weight has been coming down again, slowly. I miss working out though so I’m thinking of maybe starting again but with some shorter workouts.

I didn’t mean to go MIA again. I got a severe case of strep and was totally down for about 5 days. I think my family thought they had been abandoned. After I started feeling better, I was reading posts. And reading posts. And reading posts. I love how active this group is but when you get behind it gets a little bit overwhelming.

I hope everyone is having a great hump day! (Myrna, especially you who is bored at work!)

Hi LC friends, I'm pulling my hair out today, don't even have time to eat, sure wish I was a geek, anyone good out there? I'm trying to get all my contacts and what not from my old Blackberry to my new one, have been sort of successful but not completely yet though I will!

My treadmill is feeling lonely I'm sure, haven't been to see it today at all but I will do that yet too.

I really think I need to cut down on calories, I'm just not getting anywhere and that appears to be the only thing that's changed since I was doing pretty good. I upped the fat for the last 3 days and have virtually stayed the very same weight which is so frustrating. I'm going to cut them down again for a bit to see if that does anything, it's worth a try, right?

Hope everyone else is having a good day, glad your getting that knee checked Myrna, see just what's going on but stay away from the cortisone shots!

My energy is MUCH better today...I guess you could say I "worked out like a boss"! Ran 5 miles in my neighborhood, then went to the gym and did my pump class for an hour (which is a weight lifting class). I'm feeling so much better!Smile I've been trying to keep my calories up (as Angie suggested) while keeping my net carbs down. With all the recipes everyone shares, it's not too hard.

Danzaldo-I'm sorry that you're bored at work, but I just love reading your posts. That one about the birthday party yesterday had me laughing right out loud!Laughing I'm so glad you're a part of our group...we'd never "kick you out" for eating more carbs. You do what's right for you!

Myrna- Thanks for sharing your food journal with me. You're doing great! And, I'm glad you're getting that knee checked out. Let us know how it goes.

Well, I just wanted to check in quickly...so I guess it's back to work for me. Blah!

Good morning. Mostly going crazy trying to get an assignment done, but I made myself a yummy omelette for breakfast to support my efforts. Had some 91% chocolate for a treat mid-morning and here it is almost 1pm and I am not hungry at all. The DH is out late at a work conference all week so I can eat on my own schedule and I guess that train is running late today.

BACON JERKY??? Whaaa ???? If you are trying to seduce me - you got it! There is bacon jerky? Proof that God loves us and wants us to have bacon.

And, to make me even happier - my box of fabulous sky high ankle boots I stalked and practically STOLE from ebay last week are HERE!!!! Yessss!! Ebay is also proof God loves me and wants me to have shoes. I tore that boz open like it was Christmas and fist I gasped - they were even cuter than the picture - and then I got caught by a co worker hugging and swaying with it to the Talking Heads "This must be the Place"

Julie - daaaaaamn! YES, you definitely worked out like a boss! Motivation for me to do the same later today.

I thought our food diaries are open to everyone? Are they not? Can anyone see mine? Is mine showing? Buhaahahaha

I know... And I'm not offended about it at all! I realized it soon after all the talk about 20 carbs a day that I was probably not in the "right" group, but I like it here. There is ACTIVITY here. I follow more of a clean eating approach than a low carb one. I did join a few supposed Clean Eating group and there is no recent activity. Dead. I need my carbs - I hit the gym 6 days a week and I'm packing on lean muscle. I need my carbs to put in that time on the treadmill. My body is changing for the better and it's working for me. I already lost 4 lbs before I joined here, in the month of January. My progress is hard to see on the ticker, as I am gaining muscle as I'm burning fat and muscle is heavier. But I will get there, I am nothing if not patient (buuhhahaha...that was funny...)

In the next two weeks I will be reducing my carbs gradually. Yesterday was my first day cutting my oatmeal serving in half. I started with a 40-40-20 ratio of lean protein, carbs (complex and good ones timed appropriately), and good fats. I'll be tweaking it down, so don't kick me out yet!

I can explain the tortilla. Really.

Yes, Rockmela...Net carbs are Carbs MINUS the fiber and the sugar alcohols. So, if broccoli has, say, 6 carbs, but 3 of those carbs are fiber, it has 3 NET CARBS. Does that help??

You can set your food diary to count net carbs.
In induction you should aim for 20 net carbs per day with 15 coming from veges, this is very important for your health, lots of good stuff in veges!
Protein 20-30%
Fat 60-70%
Carbs 10-15%
This is my guide I hope it helps Smile

Danzaldo...they won't kick you out..otherwise I wouldn't be here...lol..hahaa...DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU! I too was eating oatmeal..I do miss it...you would think it would be healthier for you. I have not had any grain in the last month, and I find that I am not missing it...nor the spuds...strange, as I am a confessed CARBOHOLIC!

BTW: Are we counting CARBS or NETCARBS as 20g? Personally...I say we go with the net!!! LMAO

See, I do see the healthy aspect of oatmeal and complex carbs, as well as those derived from vegetables and fruits. I don't think I will ever see whole grains as bad. But that is just me. I am a carboholic, and my biggest temptation is BREAD. FLOURS - I love cookies. Frankly I can live my life without cake and be ok. I can live without sugar. But breads and good chewy cookies are my downfall. Before I decided "hey, snap out of it - stop the emotional whoa-is-me eating, get right!" I could sit down with a french baguette, some butter and a glass of wine and polish it off in one sitting...

On a totally different note - I am not sure about this exercise tool...

I love the food diary tools - the best I've tried so far. I like it beter than Nutritiondata.com. I love it. But the exercise here is so limited. No big deal, but it would be nice to log the exercise I do in the same place where I log my food intake. Or is it just operator error. I will keep playing around with it, but it would be cool to enter my cardio, and weight sets. I have an ap on my phn, but lord is it cumbersome. Any suggestions??

Danzaldo: I'm allergic to exercise!!! lol...I love to get out and walk...but I can't do it with the knee because I look like Quasimoto going down the street! I have a brand new (used once)pair of women's size 8 roller skates if anyone is interested...I will never use them again. I don't think I'll be able to trust the knee for that...

Oh, and I forget to say..congrats on the boots...we all need something once in a while that makes us feel good! For me lately it's going to a movie without my kids!

Danzaldo- Open the exercise tool. Then scroll ALL THE WAY down to the last exercise choice. It is called "other". There you can input anything you want and the calories too. You aren't limited to the choices that FS gives you. This site is really quite cool! I love it!

Danzaldo- One more thing... You must first click on "add exercise". Hope this all helps!
