It's Groundhog Day! My kids get to hear me say that every time one of them does something disappointing that they should have learned from the first time. Feel free to interpret the meaning of 'disappointing'Very Happy . News just in that Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow, hooray for Spring!
Sunkeeper - coconut butter does have carbs, Amazon has a nutrition label image. It's 2 net carbs for a 2 tbsp. serving. I haven't had any, so I can't say if 2 tbsp. is a realistic serving. I may be the only one, but sometimes when I read a label and see the number of servings per container, I wonder what planet I live on. For certain foods it seems like they increase the number of servings to lessen the sticker shock of the calorie and fat content. (Probably 2 tablespoons of coconut butter is an accurate serving.)
I had one of those dreams last night where I was eating something; I realized it was not low-carb and panic ensued. Funny how the sub-conscious works.
Have a great Saturday!

It's early yet...the day has barely begun....time will tell....waiting for the shoe to drop....lol

My diet is fine...I'm referring ito 2 days of the boys not in school and me not at work!

I'll be back later...I have to go and rescue the bacon jerky...otherwise the boys will mainline it. Thanks again Toni for the directions!

Have a fab low carb day! Myrna Out!

Oh, Julie, I'm so sorry. I'm sure that's a journey most of us have taken with a friend or family member that we love and it's a tough one. I think just being there is the most important thing. for my friends, I found it was more important to listen than know what to say or do. I'm not sure how you feel about this, but I'm am convinced prayer works miracles. I know it has in several cases.

On another note, the GG sleepwalking is hilarious to me! The body wants what the body wants! Is there such a thing as LC cereal you could buy instead? lol

Well, I was so successful on the Fat Fast (lost eight), got sick and just ate what I was feeling (gained 3) for a net loss of 5. Not bad but I'm at 149 and I REFUSE to go back into the 150s. I'm really confused. I did eat around 35g of carbs post-sickness, every day for 3 days. It's amazing how quickly the weight wants to jump back on. I'm a little sick about it. Any help on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated. Oddly, I'm still in mild ketosis. Confused Crying or Very sad

Rockmela, what does your diet look like over the course of the week? Maybe you spelled it out somewhere but I missed it if you did. Thanks!

Good morning everyone.

Julie - I am so sorry to hear about your firends diagnosis. I really, really, just HATE cancer. It has touched us all, and the only advice I have (unsolicited..) is to steer her to the POSITIVE. A positive outlook on fighting your cancer and staying positive can do so much. I's say, "Hey - you GOT this! You can BEAT this thing and I'm with you fighting every round!" XO

Julie24 - my FAV low carb chocolate: Simply Lite low carb dark chocolate. I get it at Trader Joe's. How do I attach a picture??? Anyhow, here are the stats:

No trans fat, gluten free, 1 g net effective carbs, 50% cacao
1 bar has 4 servings so two squares: 100 calories.
Total carb: 15g, but 3 g is dietary fiber, and 11g are sugar alcohols so 1 g net effective carb.
Protein: 1 g.

And it tastes great. Whenever I get that sweet tooth, I indulge and it doen't feel like I'm suffering "diet candy". I have never heard of sleep eating - mine was full fledged I'm getting up and eating something bad at 3 am because I don't care. I was AWARE I was doing it. It felt awful in the morning. Use your baby locks, stay strong and try to wake up. Subconcious self must not sabotage all your hard work! Smile

Sunkeeper - thank you. That is right, look out world I am back from the post pregnancy + divorce doldrums and I'm out to be and live well, for it is the best "revenge" Breastfeeding for as long as I did also ate up my muscle since I was so worried about losing milk supply I never cut my calories and I stayed away from the gym and my giant milk boobs (that I miss dearly...) kept me from running, not that I wanted to run because I thought it would decrease my supply. I was one of those paranoid moms who had more than enough milk to feed twins but thought she was on the verge of drying up. WEIRDO. But yeah, I am out to feel strong again and look like it.

Yesterday was Cheat Meal Friday. I ate clean all day but dinner was a Crab Feed for a local event. I must've ate my weight in shrimp & tooons of crab, yes - WITH REAL BUTTER - and it was worth every calorie. I heart Cheat Meal Friday.

I'm back at work today, and I can smell the bacon and pancakes heavenly scent wafting out of the bar & grill and into my office. JERKS! I asked Chef is would consider some healthier alternatives, like a low carb section...he looked at me like I was speaking chinese backwards.

I've been reading the last few days but didn't manage to post from the ipad. Typing long missives on phone or pad keyboards just doesn't work for this ancient touch typist. Smile Nice to see everyone doing well. I may try the fat fast thing after President's Day. I host a suite at a conference that weekend every year and it is hard enough to stick with low carb choices (and not overeat with those) without doing something really different. Getting a jump-start sounds awfully good.

Really excited about going out to lunch today to a crepe place that does all buckwheat crepes (so many places aldulterate it with wheat flour). I want ALL the crepes! LOL

When I want chocolate I do Guittard 91% cocoa Nocturne. One quarter bar (3 squares) does me just fine and is >4g net carbs.

Happy Saturday, everyone!!

Danzaldo- Thanks for the encouragement regarding my sleep eating. Like I said, I'm going to use my baby locks tonight and see if that will wake me up if I happen to try to get in the cabinet. Can you image?? Baby locks!! Geez!Rolling Eyes
I'm going to look for that dark chocolate that you mentioned. There's not a Trader Joe's around here so I'm going to see if it's available on the internet. Thanks!

Sarah- I think that a net loss of 5 lbs. is terrific!! Don't be discouraged over the 3 lb. gain. Like you told me, the body does what it wants to do, and I think that maybe your body just needed some extra nourishment after being so sick. So, celebrate the 5 lb. net loss and enjoy the 140s!! You're there, girl!!Very Happy

Rockmela- Amazing loss this week!!! Awesome!!!! Very Happy

I'm trying to make up for my sleep-induced Golden Graham binge. (Well, not really a binge...I think it was more of an indulgence of about 1 cup because that's all that was left in the box! LOL!Laughing ) I've only had 3 oz of chicken breast for breakfast and 32 ozs of water so far today and I'm not even hungry yet for lunch. I'm going to eat...just keepin' it lowwww-carb!!!

Thanks to all of you who offered your support about my situation with my friend with breast cancer. I went to the farmer's market this morning and bought her a lovely orchid. What should I write on the card?? "Stay strong?" I dunno...

Julie: You've got a friend in me.....has a nice ring to it.

Got a lot of good stuff at store...going to make the cream cheese clouds and the key lime pie...yum yum yum

When my friend was diagnosed, I looked on etsy.com and I found this really cute silver boxing glove pendant - it was tiny and delicate - with a little silver stick that said "Fight Like a Girl!", and she loved it. She fights tough, stays positive and lucky me (and all of us who care about her) she is doing great. Just a thought...

What is a cream cheese cloud? Sounds dreamy...

MyrnaLoise - goodness, my favorite time to shop is right after work BEFORE I pick up my daughter. A trip to the grocery store - or ANY store with her in tow is painful 9 times out of 10. I swear she is like 4 bad kids all wrapped into one sweet-looking little package. So I tried church with her. Tried. OMG, she darn near halted the whole thing, almost toppled a lady with a walker, threw a fit when I wouldn't let her leave the pew and so much more. As I got ready to take her to church again the following weekend I had visions of her running and tipping over the giant candlestick, igniting some of the fabric on the altar and having to put it all out by dumping the bowl of holy water to put it out, so I didn't go.

Julie - I can barely deal with the baby locks, gates, plugs, etc around the house when I'm awake, so that should really help your sleep eating! Maybe add a challenge by putting all the naughty stuff up on a higher shelf/cabinet so you can't reach it too?

Julie - Trader Joe's aparently doesn't sell their stuff online (whatever!?) but here is what it looks like and I'm sure you can find it in a store somewhere close or amazon.

Oh my...thanks for that, they sound AND look dreamy.... Will make some as soon as I find some liquid splenda. I'm sure I just haven't looked for it - it should be everywhere. I love black coffee, so I rarely even have to look for sugar unless I'm making cookies... and that will be soon - but thankfully, they are to give away as Valentine's. Whew!

I can't live without Trader Joe's... Place your order NOW - they have such a huge selection of nuts. Great cheese. And so affordable. Who is working out this weekend? I took Friday off so I'm on the hook to work out over the weekend. Who is with me?

Any Biggest Loser fans here? I am hooked on this show...been watching since the 1st season. I find it incredibly inspiring and it's the only show that occassionally (ok, frequently) makes me cry. Anyone?

OMG I am so full. I have a cheat day a week and usually gain 4 pounds the next day. By Wed cheat weight is gone. Today I had an oatmeal cookie, poutine, lasagna, chicken veggies and chicken and simplicity tomorrow and for the week!!!
I watch Bigger Loser, but it drives me crazy. It really bothers me how the contestants feel like they failed if they only lose 5-6 pounds in a week. It is so unrealistic in my opinion to lose doublt digit weight week after week.....and then keep it off once you go back to be a full time parent/employee.....I like the makeover show!!!! Well, got to get rid of all the extra carb food in the house!!!!
