LerkLeKlerk...way to go on the 2 pnds and no veggies!Smile

Rockmela: George is my bike and we can go 30 minutes now WITH a bad knee...The Aleve helps alot...gonna try and kick it up a bit tonight...maybe push for 31 minutes! lol

Toni: Jerky is fab....but I killed the dehydrator...deader than a doornail...guess it was time for a new one!

My sons are Joe (a.k.a potty mouth) and Sam...Some day I'll tell ya the long story of how they came to be...they are adopted, and they are the JOY and WOES of my life...wouldn't have it anyother way!

Now to rat out Sam: Last week I got a call from his teacher, he and about 4 of his little buddies in art class had the bright idea to cut thier hair....now for all the mothers except myself....they were horrified, because thier boys had big gouges out of thier hair....But Sam had just had a haircut, so he couldn't get close enough...you can't even tell. Just wanted you to know, neither are perfect! lol

On a really fab note...I had 2 people this morning comment on my weight loss! Yeah....people notice!! What a rush of pride inmyself...

I am giving a cup of coffee a try this morning....going for the weak stuff, but it is chilly this morning in Florida and I soooo miss my coffee!

Everybody have a fantastic LC day!

Wow I'm gone for 1 day and get waaayyyy behind. I really love reading your posts. It definetly reminds me in not alone.

Well, we took our trip to close on our house. Before we went in, I prayed for favor and a successful and easy closing. Prayer works! We found out that there were some issues with the bank on the buyers end that morning that got worked out just minutes before the scheduled closing. I am happy to report that I am now homeless....yay!!

As for food, I had my beignets for breakfast and honestly they weren't as good as I remember them. It has been so long since I've had sugar, that it tasted...well, different. However, I cannot say the ssame about the pizza. We went to our favorite hole in the wall pizzaria and, oh my, it.was.so.good!!! I enjoyed my 2 1/2 slices...every bite!

So, here I am back at home. I'm not getting on the scale until my official weigh day, Monday. So, I have the weekend to counteract my cheat day. The good news, I am ready to get right back on track. I'm not even tempted by the cinnamon rolls my daughter asked for this morning. I have had my coffee with cream and EZ-Sweet (my low carb miracle). I was a little worried I would have a hard time getting right back on plan, but I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that my cheat was planned, I didn't just "give in."

Whatever, the reason, I'm just glad I'm able to jump back into it with no problem.

Very pleased to see no gain this morning. Yesterday was very stressful, I was sleep deprived and I only walked about 3000 steps instead of my 10k goal. Even so, I weighed in 176.2 this morning after 176 yesterday. Yay! Looking back at my food diary, I see that I really did keep the net carbs down and maybe that was enough.

Anyway, I am just so pleased with a 9 pound loss in just over three weeks that it is all I can do to keep from grinning madly all the time. That, plus a beautiful sunshiney day, and I am feeling good.

Now I am off to Whole Foods to buy some more healthy edibles.

Have to keep this short since I have got to head out for a walk and then off to run errands.

In scanning through a few pages of the recent postings, I noticed several references to trying to eat enough coconut oil but finding it disgusting straight off the spoon. After consuming as much of it as I have, I wouldn't call it exactly disgusting but still not especially appealing What IS appealing is coconut butter. I have just recently discovered the joys of this stuff. It is basically just coconut flesh that has been whirled up a bit and put in a jar. It is absolutely delicious both as an ingredient and straight from the jar. You may have trouble finding it locally. The only place I have found it on the shelf is at Whole Food. However, you can get it through Amazon, at Swansonsvitamins.com and probably from the Artisana brand site.

Hmm. Before I push away from the computer, perhaps I should place an order for a good supply. I'm guessing that once folks realize what a resource this stuff is, there will be a run on it!

Have a great day everyone and thanks for all the warm words of welcome!

Sweet! I like this board... the others had super old posts, no activity.

A little background on me, since you all seem to know each other pretty well:

I am a single mother of one amazing 2 and a half year old little girl. She keeps me on my toes! I stayed home with her for a little over 18 months and just went back to work 6 months ago. I am facing the challenges of balancing it all, home, motherhood, work AND trying to get fit. It's hard to get it all in in 24 hours, like most people.

My goal is pack on more muscle, lean out and begin to see the old me pre-pregnancy. It is definitely a challenge since I do not always have the time to hit the gym as long as I would like. Luckily my baby LOVES the kids room at the gym and sometimes when I do not feel like going, she asks to go play at the gym. It is also a challenge because I had become accustomed to eating pretty much what I wanted - and I love food...GOOD food. I am a suchi addict and if that is wrong, I don't want to be right Smile Scaling it back is definitely hard for me, but I am hanging in there.

I'm not following a specific diet. I just try to keep the carbs good ones, and the more complex ones in the morning when I'm most active. I pair it with protein and try to keep the fats GOOD and the overall calorie count steady. I'm eating 3 meals plus 2 snacks. It works, but the prep work sometimes slows me down.

There. Me in a big nutshell. Great to "meet" you all and I look forward to checking in and reading your posts.

I took today off from the gym. I was just too sleepy... and I have way too much to do tonight after work. The best thing I can do is eat clean today since there will not be any exercise. Trouble is, I work at a private golf course, with FABULOUS KITCHEN/BAR & GRILL!!!! I brought my lunch, so I have nooooo excuse to go in there. Aaaargh.

Hey guys, terrible headache now, and I have so much to do today. I had barbecue sardine for breakfast, which was great. Got some calaloo from a neighbor, so I will have that for lunch.

Nice to know u better danzaldo. My baby girl just turned two last month and she has me on the ball too. I was home with her all this time and looking forward to go back to work this month. I hope I can adjust to the working world again. As Myrna said we r like family. I am so glad I joined this group, it makes eating healthy so much easier.

Have a great day all.

How do I get one og those cool tickers at the bottom?

Terrible headache? I get those sometimes... what helps me is IF I suspect its due to really low carb intake, I put a tablespoon of almond butter on a half slice of ezekiel bread, or trader joe's daily bread - flourless kind and it gives me some relief.

Lyn - thanks for the info on the coconut butter. I'm definitely going to order some. I'm ok with the oil, doesn't gag me, but you make the butter sound so creamilicious (not a word spell check). I made the bark with just the oil and cocoa powder with a little ez-sweetz a while back and it was satisfying. I had completely forgotten about that until just now. May make some tonight.
Myrna Louise, my cat licked the bottom of the bowl I had used for my pork rinds snack. I was like, Lil D you ain't gonna like the hawtness in that. I thought of you. hehehe
It is cold as the dickens (mainly the wind) in NC today. Hope everyone in this hemisphere is bundled up and warm. I'm pretending I'm with Linda.♥

Darri, I'm pretending I'm with anyone south of the Mason Dixon line today! We've got cold and we've got snow, got completely dumped on yesterday but the sun is out now and it's a beautiful Christmas card out there. Nice to look at but I'll stay in for now.

I made some coconut bark yesterday and loved it. Gave DH a piece last night and he loved it too but was not pleased when I told him he couldn't have any more of it, it was mine, allllll mine. He only got a taste to see this new way of life isn't so bad if he'd only hop on my train with me. I sure do hear all the angry words from the rest of you about husbands making bad bad choices. I think sometimes they were put on this earth just to drive us nuts and boy they do a good job of it.

Bit of a gain today, 1 1/2 but what can you do. Seems I lose a bit and gain 1 back but maybe tomorrow it'll be gone again. Not going to sweat the small stuff, it'll come off when it's darn well ready and screaming at the scales did nothing so I guess I'll keep quiet.

Hope you all have a really great LC day. Weekend coming and for those of you that find the weekend hard I'm thinking about you. It's your choice though, stay fat and die young or do something about it. What's it gonna be??????

Oh, my!! I miss one morning checking in and look where it's gotten me! So much to catch on...Wink

I finally figured out how to read posts from my iPhone, but when I'm mobile I can't take notes so if I miss anyone, I apologize!

Myrna-Thanks for being my own personal cheerleader!!Very Happy Isn't it wonderful when others notice a change?? Also, go easy on your son(s)...they grow up so fast and then you don't know where the time went. I have a 16-year-old daughter, and now I long for the simpler problems of a 7-year-old. Can we talk??Laughing Enjoy your time with George! Nothing like the way you feel when you exercise...or is it when you can finally stop??

Tiffany- I went to Walgreens to look for those Russell Stover sugar free candies, but the ones I saw had 26 carbs!! HECK NO! I must not be looking in the right place...

Back2128- I sure hope that you feel better soon! Something's definitely been going around here...

Danzaldo- Welcome!! You will just love this group! Everyone is so supportive.

Leikoa- Thank you for the link to the jello pie! I don't care for lime, but I'll make it with another flavor. And, thanks for explaining frankenfoods. I know what you mean about hidden carbs--no more frankenfoods for me! I have learned that I have to read everything.

Linda- Don't you just love those quiet mornings reading posts with a cup of coffee? I do it before my daughter gets up and all the daily hub-bub starts...

Lealiash- Yeah for the 2 lbs!! And with no veggies! You rock!!

More Please- Congrats on your house!!

LynCaro- I have to ask (and this question is for everyone), why the coconut oil and coconut butter?? What does it do? Is it for the fat fast?

Sunkeeper- Hang in there! Remember that as women, our hormones may have a lot to do with an extra pound or two on the scale. Just keep on keepin' on!!

As for me, PMS has turned into full-fledged TOM and I don't go near the scale. It's too depressing. I plan to weigh in Tuesday morning. That will give my body time to get back to normal. But, I'm staying low-carb and not letting it get me down.Very Happy

Have a beautiful Friday night, everyone!!!

I think I hear fireworks down in Texas. Happy Freaky Friday First of February to our girl Angie; she made goal!
(Of course she will make a new one, but this was a big kahuna!). Love you Angie, you kept me here!

Thank you Darri for posting this! You are absolutely right WAY TO GO ANGIE!! She is the ultimate reason why I stuck through the first couple months. I absolutely love watching her progress and she has done an amazing transformation! Even while you're not here you are missed and we've still got your back!

Darri...I can top that....my cat just stuck his head in my glass of soda water...Anyone want a really beautiful, obnoxiously, sweet, pain in the butt cat? Lol....

I had a busy day and all I ate this morning was 2 ounces of extra sharp cheddar cheese...yum...so was def hungry this evening...had a sirloin on the foreman grill and a cup of Brussels sprouts with smart balance! Yum....steak was bigger than I am admitting it was!!

Coffee bothered me just a tad today...I think if I weaken it down (which means no more extra bold) then I can go back to coffee...

The woman I work with is trying to be better about what she eats also...in my down time I go in and read the posts in here and I answer them out loud....I even read them aloud to her to take her mind off things...i think she'll be joining us soon....she lost her husband a year ago...she needs a lot of support!

I am giving George the night off...I have a lot of work to do in the morning...moving furniture and stuff...so going to take some aleve and go tto bed and rest the knee.

Goodnight my friends! Low carb dreams to all!

Good Sat morning to you all.

LerkLeKlerk, good for you joining a challenge, more incentive when you know your not alone in your journey for a better you.

Myrna Louise, sounds as if you have both hands full. Enjoy them now, they grow so darn quickly. Write all this down to hold over them later! Poor George, you stood him up and left him all alone on a Fri night. Hope for the poor dude's (I know, I know, he's only a bike) sake you've got a Sat date with him. Resting your knee a bit isn't a bad thing though, might be good, less drugs down the road. Hope your friend joins in, more ideas, tips and tricks for everyone. Seems we all have little things that can help each other in this quest, the more the merrier for sure.

MorePlease, so happy for you now that your homeless, rofl. To have a few "treats" now and again is good for you, it's how your going to have to live the rest of your life. The good part is knowing it's not a way of life, just the odd special gift to yourself. Not a darn thing wrong with that at all and I certainly don't view you as a cheater, far from it in fact. Your living the way the rest of your life will be, the odd not so good for you thing but right back at the healthy way once you've had something. As long as it doesn't become a habit who or what are cheating on?

Lyn, how many carbs would be in the coconut butter? If it's ground coconut I would think it might have a few which the oil doesn't have. Me and my friend Google have been searching but can't really find a good comparison of the 2 other than it saying Coconut oil is to peanut oil what Coconut butter is to peanut butter. Geesh, right now all of them sound good to me! Be interesting to get the facts right off the jar if you have them. I can't stomach coconut oil off the spoon, it's like eating lard but I absolutely love it in my coffee, gives it almost a Bailey's taste.

danzaldo, sounds like your life is busy. Great to "meet" you too and good luck with your goal to get fitter and trimmer. Look out world, here she comes.....

Lealiash, hope that headache left and your back to feeling great ready to tackle the world. Adjusting to the working world again is like adjusting to the new eating, it just takes a bit of time and you settle in to the routine. Hard to leave little ones though for sure.

Julie, stick with it girl and by Tues weigh in you'll be doing the happy dance hopefully. Heck do the dance anyway, it'll burn more calories. Spend the weekend dancing then for sure Tues will be a great day!

tenkilos, how was dinner? For a while there it seemed so many places had South Beach items on their menus but now that's fallen by the way side, or at least round these parts. Darn them, don't they know about FS and all of us and how we could use a list of good things to eat on menus?

Busy day here with all my kids coming home. 3 of my 4 grandkids have birthdays within 3 weeks of each other so today is birthday day, 1 big celebration, oh and my son in law thought he should get in on the kids action so he has 1 too. The kids always request cheese cake for their birthdays. Yesterday I made a regular 1, a gluten free 1 (daughter has celiac) and a low carb 1 so I'm prepared, providing of coarse they don't all eat the low carb strawberry one before I get any. I added a teaspoon of sugar free strawberry jello to the cheese for fruit flavor. Had just a teeny tiny taste last night and it's gooooood.

Today is a new day, hope all have a LC time of it and enjoy being good to yourselves, you all deserve to be healthy, happy and losing those pounds!

Good morning, everyone!

I don't know where I'd be without the support of this group. You see, for the last three nights in a row I've been getting up in the middle of night and eating Golden Grahams (my daughter's cereal) in my sleep! I don't know why or what to do. I know it happened the other two nights because the cereal was out when I woke up in the morning and I'm the first one to get up. Last night, I actually was half awake so (1.) I remember it, and (2.) I was able to stop myself and go back to bed. This "sleep eating" is killing me and keeping me away from my goal. I have baby locks for the kitchen cabinets, so I plan to use them tonight, but I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else...Crying or Very sad

Anyway, the plan today is to try to look forward, eat low carb, and exercise without looking back.

Sunkeeper- Thanks for the encouragement. My running shoes have a date with a treadmill...that's the way I "dance". Smile

But, there are bigger issues going on in the world other than my sleep eating. I just found out this morning that a close friend has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I'm going to buy some flowers and go see her today, but what does one say at a time like this??

Trying to keep my head up,
~Julie~
