Are you doing everything that you are supposed to do but still stalling? Fat Fast may help you out. Here are a couple of links to check into:

Just wanted to edit that Fat Fast is also mentioned in the Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution so it does fall in line with Low Carb.

My Thoughts on the Atkins Fat Fast

If you're going to do it make sure to read up on it. Several of the ladies here have posted very good, very thorough and informative links about it and trust me when I say that you will be better off for having read them.

Second, no, you do not have to eat only cream cheese. You want to shoot for 90% of your calories coming from fat. This includes but is not limited to: avocados, macadamia nuts, bacon, pepperoni, sour cream, heavy cream, brie cheese, olive oil and so on and so on.
Variety really is the key to succeeding with the fat fast.

I am now on my 10th day and I can say the results are spectacular. I lost all cravings for sugar and chocolate, I'm in deep ketosis and I lost even during PMS and TOM - which, for me, is extraordinarily rare.

But, while it isn't 'hard' because you aren't hungry, it also isn't easy. For me, 200 calorie mini-meals really didn't work so I changed it up a little bit for myself so that I could have a larger meal in the evening to eat with my family. And it still worked.

All in all, it's definitely do-able. I will be doing it again in the future.

Toni - that has been the biggest struggle for me the mini meals versus a regular 'type' meal.

Another question, as far as I can see there is no fibre in this fast... does that cause constipation issues?

Linda I tend to be on the constipated side and have to take three stool softeners a day (as instructed by my physician a couple of years ago). I have had no problems on the Fat Fast...the only problem I had was the normal issue that I have when TOM comes around.

Just wondered, sometimes I need psyllium on low carb, mainly if I'm slack and don't eat enough fibre/veges... but I guess if you are eating a lot more fat it might not be an issue?

Anyone else?

Linda - All I did was instead of having 200 calorie mini-meals, I had slightly larger meals and snacks. That seemed to work better than the mini-meals. For me, at least. I still kept the fat ratio at 90% and I did everything else basically the same.

As far as fiber, the fat really does work like a laxative. And I had no issues with voiding at all.

Today was the 3rd day on fat fast. I got on the scale and lost another 2 pounds, 3 total in 3 days. So far it's working great.
I did have more protein today than usual so I'm only at 75% fat. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Also, I noticed when I do have less fat, I'm still hungry but once the calories are up over 1000 - there's not much you can eat. I too have constipation problems - all the time. I thought today was different but here my daughter put miralax in my coffee this morning. Oh well it worked but I hope it didn't impede my weight loss.
I heard when you start eating low carb again you gain some of the weight back, I hope not. 3 pounds is not enough loss to gain weight back.

Even on fat fast, I can not get any further than moderate on the ketosis stick. And, that goes back to slight pretty quick. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Rdrunr - I took a peek at your food diary. You aren't really doing the fat fast the way that I understand that it needs to be done. Your calories are too high and your protein levels are too high.
The fat fast is 1000 calories with 90% of your calories coming from fat sources. You really want to keep your carbs super low. After 3 days of fat fasting you should be turning the ketostix really dark purple. The reason you aren't is probably because of the protein and carbs.

Thanks Atriel2 - I just made sugar free jello with whipped heavy cream for tomorrows fat fast. That should keep me in the 90% fat catagory. I need to get some things like macadamia nuts and avocados. Is the celery stick with cream cheese ok. That should not have the carbs go too high. I find it hard to think outside the box. Any food recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for your response.

No problem. Smile
I pretty much ate the same thing for 10 days, when I moved up to 1200 I just upped the portions.
For breakfast, I had an egg scrambled with a tbsp of butter and a teaspoon of sour cream. Lunch was 2 pieces of pork bacon and 3 ounces of avocados. For dinner I had 4 ounces of ground beef with 1/2 an ounce of avocado and an ounce of brie cheese - but you can sub cream cheese for the brie, if you'd like. For the snacks, I had 1/2 an ounce of macadamia nuts and 8 pieces of pepperoni, not at the same time.
The celery and cream cheese should be totally fine.
If you haven't looked at the links that are posted above, do check them out. There are some great ideas for food.
I'm happy to help. Smile
