Hi! How long does it take for posts to appear here after vetting - or am I not accepted as member? I wrote my "introduction" about 5 days ago Sad

Sorry you feel left out. Go to daily check in.. that's where all the action is. We rarely look here, oversight on our part. (I should say I rarely look here... there are a group of gals who are kind of like the moderators of the group but they have been away some lately.) I'm pretty sure everyone is accepted here... it's kind of a "come as you are" group. Go post on the daily check in and you will feel welcomed! Glad to have you.

Thanks! When I'd finished writing and clicked post, it did give me a message saying that the post would go through some sort of vetting first - perhaps that's the delay.

So it happened again when I tried to post to the Daily Check-In:

Which board did you post on? Here or on the "Daily Check In"? The only post that's never posted that I wrote was one where I had posted something from another source (some recipes). It's still out there wandering around somewhere, I guess, because it's been a week and still hasn't shown up. I hate for you to be left out.

Hi, I posted here, on the daily check-in, and another thread. All just stuff I wrote right here. Nothing shows. Probably not even this one...

Whoops. I didn't see this "Introduce Yourself" thread until I had already posted the following to the "Daily Check In," so, at the risk of being repetitive, here is that post again:

Hi LC people. This is my first day to sign up for the group. Here is a bit about me.

I am a 5'4", 63 year old woman who is on a low carb regimen for the second time. The first time was about four years ago when I weighed about 195 and was puffy, tired and achey all the time. I bought a body analyzer scale. a treadmill, and a program called WeightMania, which did a lot of the things that FatSecret does but was glitchy, not at all intuitive to use and expensive. I recorded everything that I ate, kept the calories down to around 1200 or so a day - as I recall, the records were lost in a computer failure - and really kept the carbs down. I also started walking and eventually built up to being able to walk at least six miles a day. To my great surprise and delight, I lost thirty pounds in about three months. Over the next few months, I lost another ten. I was down to 155, my body analyzer numbers were great and I felt better than I had in decades.

Two years ago life threw me several serious curve balls and, gradually, I fell off the diet and exercise wagon. Stress and injury are no one's friend. Anyway, as of Jan 7 of this year, I was back up to 185 and, need I tell you, not feeling very good at all. I came across this site and the LCHF challenge and signed up in such a hurry that I inadvertently entered my starting weight as 180 so the challenge shows me having lost 3.2 pounds. Actually, as the overall Fatsecret records show, I have lost 8.2 pounds in 23 days. Yay! That is better than I thought possible. Of course, it was the first five that came off so quickly. Since then it has been aggravatingly slow.

Hopefully, we can help each other stay the course and reach our goals. Best wishes to all.

Nice to meet you LynCaro. We seem to be quite similar age and weight wise and being new also maybe we can help each other along this path. I too have done LC previous, need to keep at it for the long haul this time and with so many new recipes I don't see it as being a big problem any more.

Determination will win this battle, I'm sure of it.

Hello everyone!

I have been a part of this group for a while (the silent stalker type, LOL) and have gained much encouragement from reading your threads. It is so nice to have people on here to talk to that all understand what this journey is like. I don't know why I haven't jumped into the conversation yet, but I would certainly like to. I am a part of groups on the atkins site, but nobody every really engages in much conversation (I have become the lonely poster, LOL). Anyways, I was hoping to jump into the action on this site. I'm just going to post my bio as an introduction:

My name is Jennifer. I am a mother of two beautiful children, a wife to my high school sweetheart, a full time employee and a full time student. Just like everyone, I allowed my hectic life get in the way of being fit and healthy. In 2010 I did Atkins and lost 41 pounds (woohoo). I have since gained back a few pounds but my weight gain wasn't too bad since I kept some of the good habits I learned with Atkins. As of January 2013 I am back to finish what I started... as of this point, I've got a good 50 to get back to where I want to be. I know it's going to take a lot of hard work, but most importantly... I KNOW I CAN DO IT! I look forward to meeting my goal and making a few new friendships along the way. Wishing the best to us all!!! ♥Jennifer♥ Goal 1 met!!!! Lost 10 lbs- 1/24/13

hi Dll38 and all our newbies, firstly welcome to our group! I am very happy you found us, we are a very active and motivated group, and have lots of postings daily. We are a low carb group but everyone is very welcome.
A little about how we work here, we have a special topic for daily posts, everyone drops in there every day-sometimes more! It's called 'DAILY CHECK IN HERE' this is for everyday posts-how you are feeling, what your goals are, weight loss/gains, questions etc... we use the same topic/thread so that we can all read back-catch up, and that means no posts get missed. to find it go to group forum-daily check in here-then go to the last page for all the most recent posts.
We have other topics of special interest, like recipes, and for example we started a new topic yesterday called Fat Fast, because there is allot of interest in the subject, anyone interested in it can read up on fat fast there-it's all in one place. See you in the daily check in! Linda

Hi everyone,
I just joined the group, great to see all the support here. I started low-carb on Feb 4, 2013 at 237 with a long-term goal of 140. I lost 7 lbs on induction and nothing since. So disappointing because I was comparing to my previous experience with Atkins when I was 32, not 47, and had half the weight to lose, and not near the stress I am under now.

Anyway, I started tracking, weighing my food, and checking all the numbers which only confirmed that I AM doing it right. The book suggests then that the problem is probably stress and hormonal imbalance. Well I am taking care of my Dad who has brain cancer and can't do much about the stress...

However, I am free from compulsive eating, cravings, and that bloated miserable feeling that carbs provide. I know that I am eating so much healthier and getting more exercise. I know my blood sugar is lower because the eye doc said my nearsightedness improved by 40%!

So I guess I will just keep on going and maybe someday I will lose more weight.

I look forward to chatting with yall. Smile

Hi! I'm Sia and I've been trying to lose these 20-25 kilos which make my life difficult. I just discovered fatsecret.com and found it really helpful with tracking carbs and calories.
Unfortunately, I'm a compulsive eater, I crave for carbs the "difficult" days of the month...I was on track for 2 weeks, feeling marvellous with my carb-free diet but now as these days have come I can't stop eating...
Luckily I lost all the kilos I put on during my pregnancy but have plenty more to lose..
I hope I'll achieve my goal soon and that we'll help each other..
Thank you
