Good morning, group!

Jaime- Thanks for the advice...I took my measurements and wrote them down. Of course, I don't have anything to compare them to now, but I will next time!

Myrna- Yeah, I've been reading about the breath issue online. Luckily, it hasn't happened to me yet, but I have noticed that I am using deodorant now when I never had to before.Doubt I guess it's 2 showers a day for a while for me!

If one does get ketosis breath, does anyone know how long it goes on for? I've heard its only temporary....

Have a wonderful day, everyone!Smile

good morning everyone. today is my birthday! So, I've decided to give myself a gift this year... and get back to the weight where I feel comfortable, about 25 pounds less than I am now. Start tomorrow. I'm actually going to get the strips today and this time no more goofing around with this. I'm going to have ketosis breath with the rest of you and can't wait. I know this will work for me because it has before. Is anyone still doing the intermittent fasting, also, because that seems to work for me, as well, and I wondered if anyone was still doing that. Otherwise, I'll do that part alone. Hope you all have a great day and I'm looking forward to being a real loser this year! Smile

Happy birthday Sarah and welcome back.

Just checking in.

Not to much going on toady. I did go over a little bit today but nothing to get upset about. Actually I think the Akins book said to stay around 20 or 25 grams of carbs it's been awhile since I read the book.

Is anyone else having problems going to the other pages to see the previous comments, because I have been and it is driving me nuts.

I would like to see what's going on with everyone so I can communicate everyone.

My weight

Jan 29 : 219 lbs
Feb 5 : 212 lbs
Feb 12 : 209.2 lbs

Mini goal : loss 6 lbs a month

Long term goal : Get down to 160 lbs by the end of summer and to be able to keep it off.

👍 to everyone who completed their journals, good or bad it doesn't matter, because you took the time to keep track of it. That's the first step to success.

I hope everyone had a good day 😃

Good morning all, ketosis breath for me was for about 2 weeks, it does come back every now and again.... not the best side effect!
Happy Birthday Back!!!! Have a good one, I hope you have some lovely low carb desert planned!
vcravener, I'm ok here, I can get to the other pages okay..

Sunday am here, Jordie (my dog) has not been well for a while -old age, heart etc, on med's, has had a bad night, might have to visit the vet today...

Other than that all okay 71.9 this am! upping my carbs for variety and moving up the ladder.

Good morning, group!

Welcome, Sunkeeper! I'm not only new to the group, but I'm new to low-carb living as well. I know you'll find this group to be as helpful and responsive as I have!

Started my day off right- breakfast of 3 egg whites, 1 whole egg, and coffee w/ cream. Now I'm off to the gym!

Happy Sunday, everyone!Smile

Good morning all! Took the boys to a movie yesterday...first time with no popcorn! Snuck in a beef and cheese stick and a diet mnt dew...didn't bother me...I thought it would! I weigh in in the pants are loosening up! Have a great day everyone!

I have also learned how to add a meal to my food plan...and then edit that to exactly what I ate....I may be lower on the carbs than I actually thought....I could have eaten more carbs! BUT, I don't think I missed them!

Hey Linda...I managed to survive the birthday party by taking small portions. Due to my work schedule, I didn't have time to eat before we left. Dinner didn't get onto the table until about 10 or 11pm, at which point I was pretty hungry. The menu? Pulled pork on rolls, boiled-potato salad, and cornbread, with ice-cream cake cut by a somewhat inebriated birthday girl.

Somehow I got through the night without putting on any water weight & aside from a glass of really nice red wine with the Husbeast last night (and a COUPLE of the fancy-pants chocolates that the in-laws gave us for Xmas), I kept the carbs low yesterday.

I was hoping to break even, but today I'm down a pound.

Needless to say, I'll be making sure I stay on track today!! Smile

Myrna: My mother used to sneak little bags of cooled, made-at-home, air-popped popcorn into the movies in her purse when I was wee. I figured out at that point that this is why we carry around such large purses. Just make sure that if anyone is so uncouth as to ask to check your bag, that feminine hygiene products are near the top! Wink
(not that this is likely to happen. Most people are flat-out scared of The Purse)

Sarah: Happy birthday! From your goals, I see a mani/pedi is at stake. I'm sure you'll be enjoying that soon Smile

Welcome, Sunkeeper!

I've never been called on having horrid ketosis-breath, but I live in Canada, where we're all too polite to take the last after-eight mint (except the husbeast. He's mercenary).

Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday (or whatever day it is wherever you are! ) Very Happy

Hi chaps, hope your all well.

Its been snowing like crazy here the last two days, feels like the whole city is being cleansed. Sadly in contrast, i feel miserable and gross!
I have had a disastrous 2 weeks in terms of low-carbs. Essentially just went back to eating how i was. Really need to re-focus.

I'm finding it hard for a number of reasons. Firstly i'm just struggling a bit with will power. Secondly, i don't have a settled home at the moment and live between 2 places, i never seem to have the food i need in the place i'm staying! I go shopping, buy in what i think i'm going to eat then i'm off somewhere else and.... well i don't have enough money to be buying every time i'm in a different place!
And if your in someone else's house, its hard to be in control of your food.
I find myself going along with a bowl of pasta because that's whats on offer and i'm hungry!
Oh well, i know its not an excuse, i'm just finding my enthusiasm has failed the last two weeks. Back on in the morning tho.
I'll go have a bath and re-focus myself i think.

Thanks for listening to me rant (or reading)!

New to this group but been doing low carb since November. Lost 25 lbs fairly quick, but weight loss has really slowed down. Sticking to the plan though!

Hi Everyone.. Checking in for the day.. Sunday morning and it's off to a good start. Got my workout in, took my 2yr old grandson home, and the twins are having a good morning.. I shouldn't speak on it because next thing I know they will be in full force!

Anywho! Glad to see everyone is doing good.

Back2128: Sarah, Happy Belated Birthday Girlie! Where you been? Haven't heard from you in a minute or two.. Glad you're back and well..

Linda: I hope Jordie feels better.. I know that when the pets get sick - the whole house is in disarray.. Feel better Jordie!

Julie & Sunkeeper: Welcome to the group! We are a great group with plenty of information, support and motivation Smile

Vcravener: Hang in there.. You have been doing great! I know how it is when you go over the carbs you start thinking all kinds of thoughts.. You will be fine.. YOu don't do it all the time..

Yzorah: Good job on surviving the birthday party with smaller portions and you were successful this morning with your weight in! Those types of situations are so hard to survive if you aren't prepared or willing to starve until you make it home/ to your safe haven.. As for the ketosis - I get it every once in a while.. It's dread awful but at least you know you're body is in the ketosis state!

Squigrat: hang in there.. and know you aren't the only one who rants and rambles.. I'm guilty of it! lol lol.. I actually enjoy listening.. Smile

Everyone have a great day!

Wow! What a beautiful day it is here, a nice change from the past week and a half! We started our day with a great church service and then lunch at BWW. I knew that I would be able to eat low carb there and I enjoyed every bite! But, I just logged my food and I am blown away...I have already consumed MORE than a days worth of calories. All I had were 12 wings!!! I hadn't been keeping track of calories until I found this site, now I'm wondering if that's what's been holding me back.

Hello MorePlease...This site and this group are a true blessing! I knew I was eating unhealthy, but I didn't know exactly HOW BAD IT WAS! Now I know and I am better off for it!

Scale time in the morning! Giggle! Giggle!

Hey guys, my weekend was great, except for the headaches, I managed to eat well today. I picked turnip leaves from my garden, had that with fish for dinner, which was great. Church w lovely yesterday, we had fasting and prayer, went on a speed boat for the first time last night ( that thing was scary fast). Loved it, hope to do it again.
Hoping to get some fresh veggies this week, cause I am out, have to be scavenging for veggies.

Welcome to the gang Sunkeeper, hope u find us to be fun.

Squigrat- one day at a time, you can do it, .

Big welcome to all the newies!

I did read all the posts today, for those who have done well/resisted temptation well done, for those struggling, don't give up!

Jordie is much better today ... thanks BBD, just a matter of time though, heart failure, and very old age, we'll keep him ticking for as long as we can...

upping carbs, starting to include a few more carby foods, no cravings yet, I'll weigh in Friday.

Yzorah you crack me up as usual x

Good morning, all!

Squigrat- Good to hear that you didn't gain any weight!

More Please- Don't beat yourself up...learn from it and move on. I don't know much about living low carb (that's why I'm here, to learn from everyone and make some new friends along the way...), but I've been a calorie counter all my life (which is counter-productive in the long run). You need your calories up sometimes or your metabolism slows down. And you definitely don't want your metabolism to slow down! So continue to log your food, watch your carbs, and keep an eye on calories and hidden sugars and you'll be fine. (If anyone thinks I'm wrong about any of this, feel free to call me out. I'm here to learn from all of you!Smile )

Tenkilos- Just wondering: When you up your carbs, how high do you go??

Have a great day, everyone!

My Weigh in Report
You lost 6.4 lb (2.4 %) since you last weighed in on Monday 14 Jan 13.
At that rate it will take you about 3 months to get to your goal weight.

Rome was not built in a day, This body wasn't either! lol....Happy dance!!!! Have a fabulous day!
