Started low carb about 20 a day atkins intro. Lost 11 pounds so far. 6'2 333lb male 48 years old. Have been getting muscle cramps in ribcage and back. Happen to anyone else?

Take a calcium supplement and magnesium. If you are drinking all the water you are supposed to do not reduce your salt intake because on Atkins it flushes out of system. Make sure the food you eat also has potassium.

Was already taking calcium don't know about the magnesium, but I added a multi vitamin and that seemed to help. Thanks Good luck

The other suggested remedy is potassium but it is one that I think one should not fool with since it is so easy to overdose. Multi-vitamins don't have much potassium so I would just eat some potassium rich vegetables. I think that the cramps come as your body is switching from burning sugar to burning fat and after a couple days they go away fairly naturally.
