ok... When I go to a supermarket... I tend to just shuffle through searching for things that will fit this plan... I've found only a couple of things that we can use.. If you have found items that are IP appropriate please share them here! Smile

Spices
Mrs. Dash - all msg and salt free! Very Happy

Beverages
4C Totally Light drink mixes- in togo packs and canisters- these have 0sugar 0carb 0cals and are sweetened with Splenda which will not affect Ketosis Smile yayy! (be careful with the lemonade mix though! it has sodium)

Random
Broccoli slaw- comes bagged ..just pick out the carrots.. its a great snack..and its also great to throw in a soup broth or make a fakecoleslaw with for a bbq (WF coleslaw might be good for that)..great in lettuce wraps aswell! Smile

unsweetened premade lemon tea- just great!

Stevia- sweetener that is permitted and also not bad for you! all natural! Very Happy

frozen steam veggies- five minutes and you've got your 2 cups done

I don't know if this seems a little too silly.. but I noticed that Gerber makes "fruit puffs" ..like munchy cereal for babies probably similar to cheerios... and the nutrional info for one serving falls under the unrestricted requirements... so If any phase one-ers just want to put something in their mouth besides lettuce.. or maybe add a little taste to a salad (i'm thinking croutons) I think this might be a winning product...or I am going crazy.. either way I might just try it Smile

Be careful what you deviate to that is not on the recommended food list provided by IP... you are allowed anything that is 0 carb, 0 fat, 0 sugar. I noted your intake yesterday was under 1000 cals but your fat and carb intake is what is causing your slow weight loss. the program is designed to keep your carbs under 30 grams/day (25 is the optimal daily goal) If you really want to drop the lbs fast restrict your diet to unrestricted foods only. that means no bars or IP snacks. by doing this it will cause your body to burn fat stores faster.

I lost on average 3.5 lbs as week,... most men lose 4-7 lbs. I was at a slower weight loss average as I deviated from the program but I STAYED within the menu choices.

Keep it up... don't let the slow average get you down... we found that one week would be great... next slow... in fact my wife gained 0.5 lbs in one week and she never cheated... your body will adjust and plateau but stick with it .. I guarentee you will drop the lbs and inches if you stick to the program.... I lost 40 lbs total on this program so I know it works.... i hover around 37 to 40 down from where I started...

One more thing that kept me motivated was I educated myself on what is happening with my body during this process and thus learned how little it took to kick me out of ketosis.... good luck and keep us posted on hour progress!

I became really stressed and stopped following the program for about a week. I gained a good 4 pounds Sad .... so I am back on IP .. cutting out the bars.. sticking to the vanilla pudding, crispy cereal, omelets, and chocolate drinks. Thank you for making it clear about the under 30 carbs! I had no idea that was the ideal number! ..... but... I am pretty sure my veggie servings alone have 30 carbs for a day.. and I know the packets have carbs, sugars, and fats already in them.. so how do we avoid going over 30 if its in our food?

I have been using Stevia as a sweetner.. and TC beverage mixes to get all my water in... Do you think this could also be holding me back? Do you use any Walden farms, alternative sweetners, or zero calorie drink mixes?

Sorry to ask so many questions but you seem to know whats going on.. and I want to see better results

I found a substitute drink.. now I know you said not to deviate from the program.. but this protein drink is cheap.. and If if I can have one a day instead of a breakfast/lunch IP packet then I can save 19.25 a week.... thats major!

The drink I reasearched : AdvantEDGE Carb Control shakes (Chocolate fudge/French Vanilla)
Chocolate: cal 110 calfromfat 25
total fat 3g
cholest 20mg
sodium 280mg
potassium 540mg
carbs 4g
d.fiber 2g
sugar0
protein 17g

the vanilla one has 2 carbs ..thats the only difference between the two flavors

these shakes seem to be a great alternative... but if they are going to keep me away from ketosis then ..fahgetaboutit!

No problem... I received help and encouragement when I was on the program..

When you go on the program, you should have recieved a list of approved foods. it advises you what vegitables you should aviod as they are naturally sweet. (hence the no friut thing).. your substitue drink looks ok, however.... i looked at your intake for the day and you were less than 400 cals.... this is bad! what happens when you take in soooo little cals , your body goes into "starvation" mode and will imeadiatly turn everything you take in into fat... the magic number seems to be around the 950 cal/ day mark....

ketosis is a delicate balance as you need a small amount of sugar and carbs to get your own fat burning furnace going.... 30 grams of carbs is a good target ... yes your veggies have carbs but things like corn and carots for instance has large amounts of carbs where lettuce and celery don't. refer to your IP food guide.....

steevia is fine... I used to use beverage mixes but forced myself to drink water straight up... hated it at first but now dislike juice mixes... I find them too sweet....

have fatih... stick with it and you WILL achieve your goal.... and quickly too!

Good luck

Jeff
