In Week #1 we need to find our what our ideal healthy weight is and how many calories per day will result in weight loss. There are many websites that will give you this inforamtion for free. Please share with us if there are any others you know of.
This site can help with the calculation:

And please remember to check this out with your doctor to make sure the numbers are right for you!!

My ideal weight according to the calculator is 110 - 145 pounds. 145 is my goal. The amount of calories I need per day to lose weight is 1440. These numbers confirm what I already knew, so I feel comfortable about them.

Next step......figuring out my menu plan.

I am going to do the breast cancer diet to help my sister. 650 calories for two days a week and then 1000 calories a day for the other 5 days. Dreading it really but I'm gonna have a go.

It comes from the study of breast cancer and is a recommended diet by the society of 650 calories a day for two days and then .... and this where I have to go and check... its either 1000 calories or 1200. It was recommended to my sister by a nurse. anyway I'm going to use it to kickstart myself and then will either switch to 1000 calories a day, not including fruit and veg which is reasonable or I will go back to weight watchers.

I started off yesterday very good with a 40 min walk in the morning...but the longer the day went on the more I wanted something with sugar. By evening I cracked and had sherbert an some large gum drop candies. Thank goodness today is better, trying to stay focused.
Cheerios and lowfat milk for breakfast, greek yogurt mid-morning. Turkey, lettuce and honey mustard small sandwich for lunch with a small lowfat milk. Not sure what dinner is yet but I will do my best.

Keep going happihart. I had breakfast and lunch as late as I could and I changed my dinner slightly and had chicken with a little potato all cooked with ginger, garlic, and chilli and a huge pile of lettuce leaves and spinach and tomatoes (green one, black one and a red). It ws very yummy. I got through the day with 678 calories. There's still a few hours to go till bedtime so I will have a piece of fruit if I'm desperate. Until tomorrow. byee

678 calories.......I may get brave one day and try it. Tomorrow I have a birthday lunch at work. I don't know what is on the menu. I am hoping salads and I'm sure there will be cake. Today there was another birthday at work...cake & cookies all day long going around. Being at work is sometimes the hardest but I know that it will eventually not phase me....can't wait until I get to that point!!

Yesterday I tracked everything I ate and stayed within my calories of 1400....but I am still trying to figure out how many carbs I should be eating each day. Your tomato dish sounds good, like a BLT without the bread. I'll have to give it a try. I don't see any where on FS to track you daily water intake (unless I am missing it) so I am going to just add it to my daily menu tracker. Water is on the food list with 0 calories and can be tracked.
