Is it possible to add new barcodes? How? If not, is this a planned feature? I ask because I'm Italian and all the products I scanned till now are not recognized, so I would add new ones my-self.

When you scan a barcode and it isn't found, then you add the nutritional information yourself, does that barcode get stored locally on your device or does it go to an online database for everyone to use? Or does it get lost forever...

For me, only some times Sad actually very few times. Sometimes it learns and then after one day it forgets.

Sometimes I will scan and the information reported is not accurate and does not match the package description. It is usually the right company/brand name, but the description and the calories, fat, protein is usually off-not always a lot (calories will report 110 and the pkg says 90). Not a big deal, but i am not sure how to re-enter the information correctly

Based on the behavior, when you scan a barcode it looks for an "exact match" in the food database. You or another user would have entered it or matched it up already.
If it doesn't find the UPC code to make an exact match, I think it still uses the bar code to get the manufacturer and product name and use that to do a search. Instead of a specific item you get a list just as if you typed in the manufactuer and product name into the search box. If you find a match you can select it and click a button saying so. If you don't, you can click a button to enter a new food. You can also edit an existing food if you find it's incorrect.
In all, I think it's very nice. I am amazed at how often it works. This is a huge database thanks to how easy it is for us to update it.

So when we update without the device there's to put a UPC on the full FS site?

I haven't had any problems with the bar code. If the info is not there, I add it, and "share" it. I'm also constantly syncing my phone, so maybe that may have something to do with it....? It was a choice between "now" or "never", and I chose yesterday!

I have usually just added in the product info myself on my phone when it doesn't scan itself. A little time consuming, but we gotta do what we gotta do to drop those pounds!

Scan the barcode. When it doesn't find a match, search for and select the product. Sometimes it works great, sometimes less so. Problems are opportunities to use our innate capacity for creative thought to mold the universe to our liking.
