I've done fabulous this week, with the exception of one meal out, but I've run across a few things that I'm unclear on.

First, are pickles okay on induction? I know cucumbers are, but haven't seen pickles on any list.

Also, Atkins have a snack bar that states on the box that it's okay for all phases made with coconut filling (tastes just like a mounds bar), but no where can I find where coconut is an acceptable food. I was hoping to find a low carb recipe for macaroons, but when is coconut "acceptable"?

Any other suggestions? I've done this before years ago, but neglected the veggies and felt miserable. This time, I'm trying to do it RIGHT!

You did do awesome this week! I don't like pickles but I checked them out on the food list and it says 1 large dill pickle has over 5 carbs so think you better stay away from them while you're in induction. I don't think coconut is acceptable until you're in maintenance. In my opinion, Atkins bars are just a way for them to make money because they actually stall a lot of people. Try not to use them until at least phase 3. (Maybe by then you won't even want to tempt yourself!) Smile
Best of luck to you! Keep on being a "loser"!

Dill pickles are ok, just count the carbs. No sweet pickles unless they're the no sugar added kind, but still count the carbs. In fact count all carbs in any condiments or relishes too. As for Atkins bars, for most people they should be an occasional treat, not for eating every day since they do contribute to stalls, but you'll have to judge for yourself in your own body.

According to NANY, coconuts are nuts and are added in Phase II, OWL. 1/4 c. shredded, unsweetened coconut has 1.3 net carbs. I use coconut flour sometimes in baking. Just remember to use unsweetened coconut.

Coconut oil is acceptable for Induction.

I found that Atkins bars stalled my weight loss so I gave them up. Some have problems with them, and others don't.

I only have the bars very occasionally, say if I'm going out and may stop for coffee somewhere, I don't want to be tempted to eat the wrong things like CAKE LOL If I have a bar in my bag I'm fine.
I use coconut flour too for cooking, and coconut milk or cream in curries/soups, just check the labels as some brands are lower in carbs.
