Group Forum: New to group - my progress

Glad to find this group to share our experiences with the 5:2 regime!
I started it on the 5th Jan and 11 weeks later I've lost 23lb, so I'm pretty happy so far Smile
I'm hoping to lose another 6lb over the next 7 weeks so that I'll be under 12Stone for my holidays.
That's the plan anyway!

I found it difficult to begin with, but now it's not so bad. I do tend to eat and drink whatever I like on the 5 normal days (wine and some take-aways, cakes, chocolate etc) which has made it such a great diet (in that I'm not on a diet most of the time!)

A typical fasting day
No breakfast
Lunch - a couple of boiled eggs
Dinner - Cheese (a "single" ) and ham toasted sandwich (3 slices of white bread)
And I do drink white coffee regularly during the day (I know the diet says it should be black, but I use semi skimmed milk and I find it gets me through the day better).

Sounds like you're doing fantastically well - I'm sure you'll easily get to your goal in time for your holidays. Keep us posted - it's inspiring!

Well - my update on the diet so far since my start at the beginning of Jan..
I was aiming for getting under 12 stone for my hols (started at 14st 1 lb, but actually managed to get to 12st 1 lb and I was amazed at that result actually - really pleased...

But the holiday came and went and the diet only started back up again after a lapse of 5 weeks. I've been really eating loads, making the most of the weight loss and enjoying the BBQ's over the few nice days we've been having, plenty of red wine and fruity ciders too!!!

Anyway, it was time to get back on track and the diet started again. Now, after a couple of fasting days (non consecutive of course)I am 5lb heavier then my best weight was(ie 12st 6lb) - I don't feel too bad about that gain over 5 to 6 weeks, especially with the amount I've been enjoying myself!

Anyway, the next holiday is booked for 19 weeks time (I find it an amazing motivator to have a holiday as a goal as I know how pleased I'll feel when I'm just in swim shorts and looking soooo much better)- so now my target is to get to 11st 7lb...compared to how much I lost last time that goal should be quite achievable - but PLEASE WISH ME LUCK!!

GLA with your own goals. I'll update this thread before I go on hols to see what I've gone down to (or UP God forbid!)

Sounds like you're really on a good roll. I'm about 1lb off my goal weight of 72kg - about 11st4, but now that I'm nearly there i feel like setting a new goal of 70/11st or just under. Haven't weighed that for about 22 years! I'm not sticking to the fasting all that well any more, but find that the whole diet thing has just made me so much more aware of what I eat and drink, so am constantly eating and drinking much less - but then feel able to enjoy a meal/night out when I want to. It seems to be the best of all worlds!
