Only had 20 pound to lose and lost 10 and then stalled and then crashed in the gym . Was gaining strength and suddenly hit a wall and could not move .

Took a week off and then on the advice of a gym trainer increased my calories and reduced my exercise . Thats a leap of FAITH .

Currently 5 foot 6 and 159b in weight about 24% fat . Goal is 147b at around about 15% fat

Has starting making substantial strength gains and is now carb cycling and eating between 1700 to 2300 calories per day . Exercising with heavy weights 4x a week .

AM GAINING WEIGHT ! But gym instructor says as my body adapts over the next three months then i will up my metabolism and gain muscle mass and the fat will slip off .

Yes a leap of FAITH . Have you followed this style of weight training . did it work out ?

Personally, doing it that way of trying to add before reaching weight goal has never worked for me. A strict very low calorie diet with few carbs until reaching goal weight and maintainng that for a few months THEN adding weight trainung to build muscle works best for me.
Good luck though and maybe it will work for you.

I know this was posted some time ago, but just joined the group. With my spine issues heavy weights is out of the question. But I have great success with low weights...firms and builds lean muscle, works as cardio at times. Using 3 pound weights and resistance bands, as well as a Pilates machine and treadmill. Occasional use of a stationary bike adds in. I have not used LCHF strategies as research shows could be harmful and does not support long term gains and am no longer an athlete to justify using carb cycling. Wondering at this point if you have seen progress as the weight trainer suggested. I watch calories as strategy.
