Hi all, Im 44 and have been trying to lose 10lbs since i turned 40!! Ugh! Anybody else have this problem?

Yup, I reached my goal weight in August of last year....blew it during the holidays and now I just can't seem to stay on track and these last 10 are again bothering me....

I am 41 and I have about 10 lbs to lose too. I just started taking a spin class at the gym. What a great workout. I would highly recommend it. I was just working out and not keeping track of my workouts or calories and did not see much improvement. Now that I am keeping track I am not cheating as much on the food. I read an article that said if you bite it or drink it write it down. It is so easy to get carried away with calories. I know I always say I worked out hard I deserve that desert. Good luck with your goal.

Yeah, I am 41 and have been on a yo-yo of trying to lose between 8 to 10 lbs. I can't seem to get on the right set of mind. Seems I can keep track when busy with work and children but somehow lose the motivation when alone. I believe having this support group will help ;0)

it is possible Smile I finally did it. at 42 Smile I was forced to be in a cast last year so I was also forced to really cut back on my intake to stay thin. I ended up losing 10 pounds. Yes some is muscle but in this time I finally figured out that 40 somethings can not eat like 30 somethings, Eat less but no weird fasts,starvations (tried all that ) I eat everything now but small portions.Mybmi is ok , bloodwork good ect..... Do Not over-excersise and think you can eat more. I did that and gained the 10 pounds when I turned 40. YOU CAN DO IT We are mature and wise enough to know it takes time .

Yup. I'm right there. for two years I've been tracking (off and on) and I've been working out 4/week. Still staying the same and feel like sometimes I should just quit and eat what I really like. But then I hang in there and drop a 1/2 a pound every two weeks.

Remember in your twenties when you could lose so easily?

Me too! I used to gain a few pounds on vacation or over the holidays and they'd come right off. Now they stay. And invite their friends.

I too am 44 and have just about 10 pounds to lose. I am 5'2" and weight 133. I have been on a very strict diet since November and nothing seems to work. My husband and I gave up meat for lent and I have finally seen a little movement on the scale. I gave up soda and eat mostly vegetables and fish. I just want my waist back!!! I run/walk several times per week and am pretty active all the time - aging is not fair. Any suggestions?

I am 49 UGH, so I just made it in this forum but must say I still feel very young. I constantly battle with 10 lbs and have been since I was about 43. My job has changed and I sit at a desk all day instead of waitressing so that seems to have caused my problem with weight. I was on SB about 4 years ago and it worked great but then I drifted away from dieting. I tried the new Atkins and had much success on that too in the beginning. When you cheat on Atkins and then go back to it, it takes way too long to lose any weight again. They diet works great the first time, after that, its a very very slow process and I missed my carbs. I came back to SB a couple of months ago. Lost a few lbs in the beginninng and now it's a slow process but I love that I can have pasta, crackers, oatmeal, etc. I do notice when I increase my exercise I tend to drop easier. Unfortunately time flies during the week and its hard to do anything except on the weekends. I have made a great effort to make sure I exercise on Tues and Thurs nights along with the weekends starting this week. If I could just get down to 147 so that my body can adjust to that as my "comfortable" weight I would be happy. Seems that the same weight at 39 is not in the same place as the weight at 49.

Hi, I am a 43 yr old Mom of two young boys. I had my boys at 37 and 39 and I was so unprepared for what was to happen when I turned 40. Not only did I start gaining weight but it was WHERE I was gaining it....I tried WW and the gym when I could and doing my own exercises. I am happy to say that there is now a twinkle in my eye about the pool this year where it has not been. I have lost 10 pounds since Dec 3rd and have kept it off- I still have a few more to go and to get rid of some flab but I am doing this right this time and Felling terrific! I have been doing the beachbody program. I started with a challenge and loved it so much I am now a Coach!!!!!
