Hi All,

I need a little boost! I'm doing great on my diet - lost 6 lbs. in two weeks, and really feel committed. I still have a long way to go. A co-worker today made a "compassionate" comment about my weight. You all know how that makes you feel. Mad

Encouraging comment appreciated!! Thanks. Smile

People are very thoughtless. She obviously has plenty of issues of her own and that little 'compassionate' comment wasn't about you, but to make herself feel better.
We've all got a long way to go and every pound is one more stop up a very tough mountain and should be celebrated. I think 6 lbs in two weeks is an amazing accomplishment! Keep at it! You'll get to the top of your mountain and can firmly plant your victory flag for every to admire! Be remember, the fact you started the journey is as important as finishing it! Be proud of yourself and ignore morale gremlins Smile They're just jealous you're headed in the right direction.
We all say we'd do anything to lose weight, but what we mean is we'd do anything but eat better and exercise to lose weight. We are all looking for fix to a long term problem

Boothacus,

I disagree. People aren't thoughtless, they hate fat people. The world hates fat people. It's a fact I've had to come to terms with, and if I choose to be fat, then I will be discriminated against, whether it's conscientiously or not. The world, especially Americans are concerned first and foremost on how you look, and nothing else. It's the way it is.

Well, for heaven's sake, what a jacka$$. This is when the old line about "I may be heavy, but I lose weight. You're ugly (clearly inside AND out) and that's a shame" would be great to use, but you're probably too kind for that.

You know what, you are already an amazing person. You decided to take control over something and you seem to be doing it at a very healthy manner; you know you need support right now and you have the courage to ask. You made yourself vulnerable in a place that you knew was safe. I say, ROCK ON and good for you. Whoever she is, she's stuck there. Too bad for her.

Everyone - you are wonderful! Bless you. I feel so much better after reading your kind words of support. I can never understand why some people feel they have the right to talk with others like this. Well...all they need to do is wait a few months and see! And I'll wrestle with a comeback along the lines of "Yes, I've lost a significant amount of weight...I see you're still judgmental and insulting. How's that working for ya?" Wink

Thanks, all. You are all incredible people -- looking forward to sharing the "good fight." Please add me to your buddy list if you'd like.

Have a great weekend!

ditto BoothacusSmile well said. I used to have a friend that would always say "Poor you!". She was a twig and thought that I was miserable at my weight but really, I wasn't. "Skinny doesnt equal Happy". I want to lose weight but life is still great! She still has lots of insecurities and is a miserable person so really "Poor her". Sounds the same with this person. You keep going, your doing great....every little bit is still progress

Thanks, aliB71. She really is a dysfunctional person, so I've "kept the comment in the moment" and have moved on. I've been skinny - and no, skinny does not equal happy. I feel better every day, both physically and emotionally, by taking better care of myself, and that is what should matter to ALL of us! Smile
