Hello! I'm Sarah, 44 from New Orleans. I'm still trying to figure out how to use a forum, but basically I blew up to 250lbs from Prednesone and eating too much sugar as my comfort food - daily. I'm now finally under 200 after many years and am sticking to a diet that I put together from all the diets I'd ever tried, read about etc. And it seems to work for me especially in the sense that my cravings are only 10-20% of what they used to be. Having an easily upset stomach has also helped, but not in a good or healthy way. I'm eating better so I don't have such a disagreeable stomach, too. I am trying to get healthy as well as lose the weight. I want to be able to maintain my weight loss after I reach my goal. So it'll be nice to be getting to meet you all. Good luck everyone!

Has anyone else suffered from Prednesone weight gain and if so how did they take off the weight?

I spent a year on and off high dose prednisone (60 to 80 mg/day) 20 years ago. I was pregnant, had quit smoking, and had just developed asthma and every time I got off the prednisone, I was right back on. So I ended up gaining around 80 pounds. It was awful. I then spent the next 10 years losing a few pounds, then back on prednisone and gaining it back plus more.

I now have my asthma under control, have not been on prednisone in several years and am finally losing the weight. I regret not doing it earlier, but we can't go back in time. Low carb is working for me. I'm very happy eating this way and I'm thrilled with the loss. I've lost 29 pounds since March 5th. I have a lot more to go, but I know I'll get there.

That great OhioCat! I am trying to wean off the last 2-3 mg of Prednesone after 7 or even more years of the evil stuff and what it did to my body and self image was so not worth it. This time, I'm never going back on it again no matter what! I also think it makes me super super emotional and that makes me eat and cry. Thought not at the same time. Smile
Keep me posted on your weight loss!!!
Best of luck, Sarah.

Hi Sarah, nice to see you here! I am also no stranger to dieting. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 12/14 and back to a size 22 three times in my 48 years. I have not taken Prednesone, but I have taken Celexa for depression after the loss of my parents, and that made me eat like a maniac and also put on an additional 30 lbs. just from the meds. I am now off all meds, feeling better, and lost 12 lbs. in the past month. Determined to get and stay healthy. You are doing GREAT! It's a pleasure to share our experiences via FS. Smile
