Hi! I'm brand new to this group. I am a 41 yr old mother of two young children and married. Since getting pregnant with child #1 in 2002, I gained about 75 pounds and have been up and down in weight(20-40 up and down) and have been at 220 lbs for about 4 yrs now-not a fun place to be for me. Recently I had to get an ablation done then 2 weeks ago had a gall stones attack and had to get my gall bladder removed. I have been the picture of health my whole life until now and this last surgery really beat me into submission in regards to my health and morality and how being overweight may cause future health problems. I want to be alive and well and ablr to keep up with my little ones, and feel comfortable with my body with my husband so I;m committing to a healthy lifestyle and am hoping the health scare gives me a healthy fear and keeps me motivated to lose weight...so far so good!!!Razz

I had a health scare in late Oct 2011...I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes...which freaked me out, my grandmother died at 47 from a diabetic induced heart attack...found out that everyone on my mothers side has developed the disease, and a few on dad's side as well...so when I was told that I had it, I was scared straight...immediately changed my eating habbits, and so far I'm down 47lbs (not since Oct, but since last January) Anyway, it's too bad it sometimes takes something quite serious to get us to see what we are doing to ourselves...I still have quite a bit of weight to lose before I feel I am at a healthy weight, but I'll get there...and so will you, just stick to it...you only fail if you quit trying!! Later.
