I am new to the group - and I have a it okay to do cardio everyday?

I do cardio everyday and I think that is a really important aspect of loosing the weight. I think resistance training with weights and core strengthening exercises are important, but for me right now I just want to get the fat off my gut so its all cardio me so far. I do plan on buying some dumb bells for upper body and arm work out and have starting doing an 8 minute ab work out to, but its almost all cardio everyday for me.
