Hey, just want to encourage you and I know the ankle ligament problem. I tore a couple of them from the bone several years ago and the doc said it would have healed quicker if I'd just broken it..I wore the boot for what seemed like forever. It will pass though. It just seems like forever.
Dieting is not easy, but it can be done, even without exercise. I haven't been able to exercise either lately, due to illness and severe pain, but hope to get my meds adjusted and be back able to soon.
I was a single mother (with only one child at the time though) and it can be really tough. I feel for you there too.
Thankfully, now I am remarried and have a great dh of 15 years now. I have 2 children, both girls.
I have lost over 30 lbs. on medifast, and although my doc says I need to lose about 30 more, I feel 15-20 would be enough. 2 of my friends actually said where I am at now looks fine, don't lose more. I do want to lose some more, but it's not as pressing as my current medical issues.
I plan on getting back to it seriously after the holidays and my meds are all stable, but in the meantime, I REALLY don't want to gain anything back, so I'm watching carefully my intake on this website and logging in all my food. Thankfully, I still have medifast and wonderslim foods I am using to supplement my meals as needed. It really helps to have some low calorie, high protein food laying around the house. Especially, when you don't feel well, or can't get around good to cook it makes it so much easier. I've found some great bars and shakes just at the grocery store that are similar in caloric/protein count as those foods as well. Easy to grab a "shake" or bar quick when you need something.
Feel free to talk anytime. Good luck!

Have you tried swimming? Even with a kick board for just 30 mins... This is one thing a PT would recommend for your ankle to improve anyways.. Just a thought..
Good luck and hope that it is not too painful.
Kids love the water - Maybe the local Y?
