 Summary:

Simply put this is the what I have learned from a dietitian who was my nutrition teacher in college. This is healthy diet that depending on calorie intake can help you lose, maintain, or gain weight. For me it's lose so I'm eating only 1200-1500 kcal a day. With exercise this is a great was to reduce your risk for disease.

 How To Follow Healthy Eating - The Diet for Life :

Try to be consistent and eat treats in moderation. An example today I had pizza roles. The rest of the week, however, I will be on track and eat healthy. I have a sweet tea or a coffee from time to time. The extent that your restrict yourself is up to you. I try not to have have coffee everyday because I learned it makes it harder to lose weight.

1.Learn how to read a food label! Eat small portions and remember this is not healthy is you are eating it all in excess! To lose weight try a lowering daily kcal intake.
2.Avoid saturated fats and trans fat.
3.Watch daily cholesterol intake. Limit to under 300 mg a day or less.
4.Consume added sugars in moderation.
5.Limit sodium intake to under 2000 mg a day.
6.Replace margarine/butter with extra virgin olive oil.

About / History

I took nutrition last semester and am going back over everything I have learned. I am by no means a great role model of the healthy lifestyle. I am educated to be but for me it's learning consistency. I am currently in nursing school and this is what has inspired me to start eating right and exercising regularly. I am ten pounds down and hoping that with consistency I can keep losing!
