Alkaline diet

 Summary:

Our body pH is very important because pH controls the speed of our body's biochemical reactions. It does this by controlling the speed of enzyme activity as well as the speed that electricity moves through our body.

All biochemical reactions and electrical (life) energy
are under pH control.

pH is behind the body's electrical system and the way our bodies utilize enzymes, minerals, and vitamins. That is why pH is one of the first things to be looked at if you are experiencing unbalance in your body in any way, shape, or form. Since our body's pH level is a direct result of what we eat and drink, anytime we are experiencing imbalance, we need to look at what we have historically been eating and drinking because this impacts our pH.

What we eat and drink is directly tied to the functioning of our digestive system. From our mouth through our small intestines and through our colon, that system plays the most important part in our physical well being. This system, what we feed it, and how it impacts our pH, is the essential core that determines whether we have perfect health or not.

cuke's top tips

1.Test urine easily by measuring urine pH. Ideal is 6.2-6.8.
2.Eat a variety of foods to ensure a proper balance of vitamins, minerals, carbs, fats and protein.
3.Protein is over rated. Too much protein is extra work for your kidneys and promotes bone loss. Vegetables and grains provide enough daily protein intake. Read work by Dr. Russell Jaffe, MD, Ph.D.
4.Always eat breakfast.
5.Detox happens naturally on this diet. Don't be surprised if initially you feel worse. You will feel fabulous!
6.Effective diet also for digestive complaints, chronic pain, headaches, and inflammation.

About / History

The alkaline diet has been around for some time and I didn't give it much thought. Common sense would indicate that a diet high in nutrient dense fruits and vegetables and low in refined sugar, flour and meat would be healthiest. But then I came across the research of Russell Jaffe, MD, PhD and was impressed with his findings on the alkaline diet for weight loss and disease.
