3 meals per day, no limit on amount of protein but carbs are limited to 60g or less per day. Legumes, brown rice & quinoa permitted, but white rice, pasta, noodles, potatoes are not. Legumes are higher in carbs, but the fiber does offset the carbs and will help keep you regular (unlike on the Atkins diet where you are having to take supplements or drink laxative type tea). This diet was recommended to me by my doctor (rice & legumes are not favorable but do help keep me filled up so I am less hungry and less inclined to snack or cheat. I find that I only loose weight if I stay at 1300 kcals per day or less. This diet should not only help take the weight off slowly, but should help to stabilize blood sugar, cholestoral and lower blood pressure (as long as you watch the sodium intake as well).
